Discussion Nobody told me that Logan was going to make me cry… Spoiler

My BF has been wanting to watch this movie, but because wolverine origins was ass I put it off. Last night we decided to pull the trigger, and I don’t think I’ve ever been as touched by a superhero movie. I cried harder at the end of this movie than I have for any other movie of any genre. I guessed pretty early on that Logan would sacrifice himself for Laura, but I just didn’t think it would work on me so effectively. I was already starting to cry when I knew Wolverine was going to die, but when Laura held his hand and called him daddy…. I started bawling my eyes out.
“So this is what it’s like.”

This movie instantly made my top 12 movies of all time. Since I finished it I can’t stop thinking about it.

Discussion Not enough people talk about the best scene involving a phase-1 character post-endgame.

Post image
• Upvotes

Okay this might be just a very strong opinion, but as a huge Bucky/winter soldier fan, I think this is the best scene involving an OG character in the MCU since phase 3. Hulk's scene in BND might come a close second.

Though I'm overall not a big fan of how little Bucky had to do in the whole movie after this and the scene where he ties them up, but his entry on the motorcycle, and him pinning down the convoy with the rope using his arm was just *chef's kiss*.

Also is it just me or did that whole sequence feel more like a Russo brothers style choreo? It had some major TWS vibes to it.

Discussion Greater Level of Anticipation for Endgame or Doomsday?

I've got a fun question for everyone. In your own opinion, which of the following would you say was/is greater and why?

A) The level of anticipation that you had for Avengers Endgame before its first release

-or-

B) Your level of anticipation for Avengers Doomsday

Question When could've Captain America had a kid?

Sorry if this is a stupid question guys but when could've captain America had a kid? In Avengers Endgame Steve went back to Peggy and I'm guessing that scene is like very fresh, that was the firstish time that they'd seen eachother. In Avengers Encore there was an extended version of that scene where Loki comes and --im guessin-- recruits Steve to help fight against Doom. So am I misinterpreting this scene and Steve and Peggy were actually together for years and had a baby?

Discussion What if Doom's biggest weapon is the fact that he looks exactly like Tony Stark?

I've been thinking about how RDJ as Doctor Doom could actually work in Doomsday and Secret Wars, and I feel like there's a way to make it much darker than just bringing him back for the sake of nostalgia.

What if Doom took Tony's original idea way too far?

Remember the whole "suit of armor around the world" idea? What if Doom is a Tony variant who took that obsession with protecting everyone to its absolute extreme?

Imagine a version of Tony who genuinely believes the Avengers will never stop creating new disasters, no matter how many times they save the world. In his mind, emotions, free will and even heroism are what keep leading everyone into the same cycle of destruction.

So what if he deliberately erased people's memories, separated different realities and isolated himself from everyone else?

Not because he lost everything, but because he actually planned it that way. He believes the only way to save existence is to take complete control of it, without anyone being able to interfere.

"You were fighting the wrong enemy."

This is where I think things could get really interesting.
Imagine Spider-Man, Strange or Thor coming face to face with Doom and recognizing Tony's face. Then Doom reveals what he's actually done.

"Thanos wanted to balance the universe because he believed it was the right thing to do. I simply realized that none of you were ever capable of saving yourselves. So I erased your memories, separated your worlds and let you believe you'd won. You were too busy fighting the wrong enemy to realize who was actually controlling everything."

Imagine what that would do to Peter, especially after everything Tony sacrificed for him.

The guy who gave his life to save the universe is now standing in front of him, wearing the same face, claiming that everything the Avengers fought for was pointless.

RDJ's face could be Doom's greatest weapon

Honestly, how do you even fight someone who looks exactly like the man who died saving you?

For Spider-Man, that would be a completely different kind of nightmare. It wouldn't just be about beating Doom physically. It would be about accepting that the person he looked up to could have become something like this.
And that's what makes this idea so interesting to me. Marvel wouldn't even need to rely entirely on CGI battles or multiverse cameos. The psychological conflict would already be there.

How I'd end his story

I also wouldn't want Doom to simply get beaten in the end.
I'd rather see him slowly realize how far he's gone when confronted with what the original Tony actually stood for. Not some sudden redemption where everything is forgiven, but a moment where he finally understands that protecting people and controlling every aspect of their lives aren't the same thing.

That could lead to Reed Richards rebuilding reality and bringing the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the same universe, while Doom's story ends on a genuinely tragic note.

I don't know if Marvel would actually go in this direction, but I think it would give RDJ's return a real purpose instead of just relying on the audience reacting to his face.

What do you guys think?

Would you rather see a Doom who's genuinely convinced he's saving the universe, even if it means taking away everyone's freedom, or do you think he should just be straight-up evil?

It’s kind of funny because Xochitl Gomez was 14 when she filmed for the movie and her character was 14. Meanwhile Tom was 20 years old playing 15 in his first appearance.

Discussion The MCU doesn't need more cameos. It needs places where characters can keep running into each other.

One thing I think the earlier MCU accidentally did really well was give characters reasons to share physical space.

Avengers Tower wasn't interesting because it was a cool skyscraper. It was interesting because Tony could be working downstairs while Steve trained, Banner wandered into a lab, somebody raided the kitchen, and suddenly characters who normally belonged to separate franchises could have a five-minute scene together without the universe needing to be in danger.

The same thing works whenever Marvel commits to a location for more than one project. The Sanctum feels like somewhere people can actually show up. Wakanda has specific rooms, streets and institutions that we recognize. The TVA worked because after a while you knew what it felt like to walk through those hallways. Even Knowhere becoming a proper home for the Guardians made that group feel more like people with a life between missions.

I think that's something the MCU could use more of now.

Crossovers have become so event-driven that two characters meeting sometimes feels like it requires an announcement. But imagine if there were two or three established places in the MCU where heroes naturally crossed paths. A medical facility where injured heroes actually go. A headquarters with a kitchen and training room. A weird neutral bar where Wong, Jennifer Walters, Clint, Kamala, Yelena, whoever can plausibly appear without the scene screaming CAMEO.

Then you don't need ten minutes explaining why Character A is in Character B's project. They're just there.

And the little interactions are often what make the big team-ups matter later. Tony and Bruce casually working together made their battlefield partnership feel more real. Steve and Natasha talking in cars and hallways did more for their friendship than another giant action scene would have.

I'd genuinely rather get three recurring locations and let characters bump into each other there for the next five years than get another dozen surprise portal entrances.

What existing MCU location would you turn into the main shared hangout, and which characters would be the funniest people to keep accidentally running into each other there?

Discussion I think the MCU feels most connected when one movie leaves behind an ordinary problem that another character has to live with

When people talk about the MCU feeling connected, the conversation usually goes straight to cameos, post-credit scenes and characters crossing over.

But rewatching some of the older movies made me realize that my favorite kind of continuity is much smaller than that.

The opening of Homecoming is probably the clearest example. The Avengers save New York, the giant alien invasion ends, Tony gets shawarma, roll credits. Then another movie basically asks: okay, who cleans up the alien spaceship embedded in somebody's office building?

And that mundane question gives us Adrian Toomes.

Same with Sokovia. The important consequence isn't only that another superhero appears later and says "remember Sokovia." It's that governments react, people lose family members, public opinion changes, and eventually you get the Accords because normal institutions are trying to respond to a world where six people can accidentally turn a city into a battlefield.

I miss that chain reaction.

The MCU now has such enormous events that I sometimes find myself wondering what happened on the boring Tuesday afterward. Who insures a building damaged by a sorcerer fight? Does New York construction code have a category for enhanced-human damage? Are there entire legal firms specializing in Blip disputes? Did half the world's universities have to invent rules for students returning five years later? What happens to a mortgage when one owner disappeared and the other legally sold the house?

I don't need a Disney+ show called Marvel's Insurance Adjusters.

But one scene acknowledging those things can make the universe feel enormous in a way that another portal or cameo doesn't.

Imagine a future Spider-Man movie where Peter is dealing with a landlord who casually mentions that the building's insurance excludes "enhanced incidents." Or a lawyer saying a case is delayed because half the evidence belonged to someone who vanished during the Blip. Nothing needs to become the plot. It just tells you that this world remembers what happened.

To me, that's what made early MCU connectivity work so well: one hero's spectacular victory could quietly become somebody else's boring headache.

What's your favorite example of an MCU project actually dealing with the ordinary consequences of something that happened in another movie or show?

Discussion In Spider-Man: Brand New Day Frank should have been immune to Jean's mind control.

We saw in the Punisher's one shot that Frank has severe PTSD. This condition should have made him essentially immune to Jean's mind control as there is no way she could tolerate his constant suffering for a moment.

I think it would have give Frank a much stronger reason to be in BND and an actual benefit other than being a safe hide out.

With how all the Marvel properties are finally coming together, theres a pretty unique opportunity for this kind of movie to be possible and I thought it’d be cool to think about. All we need now is a Black Cat, Rhino, and Electro. Btw I know Black Widow in the game isn’t Yelena but if this was going to happen it’d likely happen with her unless they bring back Natasha after Secret Wars

Discussion I miss seeing MCU heroes actually maintain their equipment between fights

I was rewatching Hawkeye and realized how much I enjoy the fact that Clint's arrows are actual physical objects he has to keep track of.

He can be an Avenger who's fought aliens and saved the universe, but he still has a limited number of arrows. He needs to recover them, replace them, figure out what he's carrying and occasionally improvise when something isn't available.

It's a tiny thing, but it makes his superhero life feel like an actual job.

The first Iron Man had a similar quality. Tony spends time building things, testing them, discovering they don't work properly, and making adjustments. The armor isn't just something that materializes whenever the plot needs it. You understand that somebody had to make this stuff.

And I really liked seeing Peter work on his own suit at the end of No Way Home.

It made me think about how rarely we see the other side of superhero equipment.

What does Sam do when something on his wings breaks? Does he have spare parts? Who maintains Rhodey's armor now? How much of Kate's time is going to be spent replacing arrows and repairing equipment rather than actually fighting anyone?

I'm not suggesting we need ten-minute scenes of people tightening screws.

But I'd genuinely enjoy the occasional quiet moment of someone sitting on the floor of their apartment, repairing a damaged glove or trying to get a piece of equipment working again.

There's something satisfying about a superhero being incredibly capable in a fight and then having to deal with the same annoying practical problems as everyone else.

I think it also tells you something about the character. Tony would probably redesign an entire system rather than tolerate one irritating flaw. Clint seems like the kind of guy who'd keep using something until it completely fell apart. Peter would fix the same thing six times because replacing it costs money.

Maybe that's why I liked the early workshop scenes so much. The equipment felt like stuff these people actually owned and used, rather than something the costume department handed them five minutes before the fight.

Does anyone else miss that aspect of the MCU, or would showing more of the practical side just slow the movies down?

Discussion (More in Comments) Do you guys think Stephen remembers casting the spell to make everyone forget Peter? Also something I thought about regarding Peter’s story post BND

Post image
3 Upvotes

The thing is, it’s hard to say how much or what exactly got erased. I’m sure they remember Spider-Man going up to space and becoming an Avenger, that’s why Stephen seems to recognize Peter as an Avenger still despite memories of him being erased.

But we’re reminded that he still remembers Spider-Man, as does everyone else. The thing is surely Stephen would remember casting the spell at all? Maybe he just wouldn’t remember that it was exactly Peter Parker who he made everyone forget?

It’s interesting because when Spider Man does show up for Avengers Secret Wars, the other Avengers will recognize him as an Avenger still.

Spoilers for Brand New Day but I wonder if Ned remembering Peter at the end will be significant for Avengers Secret Wars when he appears again, and what happened that broke the spell. Would he go to Stephen again to ask if he knows what happened, assuming the spell broke for others as well? We don’t know exactly what happened that caused it to fracture for Ned’s memory, but I wonder how they plan to rationalize that, and if by Secret Wars people will start to remember him again. I’m so curious to see where they go with that.

Discussion i know Tokon is a thing but, im more so making my own concepts

One of my favorite parts of the mortal komabat and injustice is the tower endings that detail the character doing stuff usually related to the final boss, but in some like MK1 just canon events that happen after the story told to the player

Assuming its the former instead of the latter, in a marvel fighting game with a tower equivalent what do you think they'd do- i have my personal idea similar to MK11 they'd get the thing the bad guy was using maybe the stones, i like that option because maybe you could draw more attention the infinity circuit, just a concept i thought was decently fun to throw out there
