-I found two debian apps recommended, APTLY and REPREPO that could be a reasonable solution for non-expert users with some willingness to use the terminal. Would be interested in any experience with them
-Flatpaks: are cool, when provided but this is not always the case and I can't create flatpaks on my own.
-Deb-Get nearly killed my WINE setup, a very critical app for music production, not trying this again.
-VMs are an option but rather slow and too encapsulated for a.e musical apps requiring access to many system parts.
-Distrobox/docker: I just got a basic mint container working, that might be a path (?). It's a bit expertish for me as all goes by terminal, but once I understand how I can get a desktop icon from within my mint starting an docker VM with the target app, that actually could be a path to get such apps under control and bundled in a single place.
-Yep so welcome further insights into how you guys manage 3rd party apps, keep them upgraded and maintainable in an efficient way.
