Kinda off-topic: dunno how I feel about AI usage in general and the ethical, environmental, societal, etc impact. Sure there are benefits, but I just dunno... I suppose it will later on be just like e.g the slave labor used in the manufacturing of our electronic goodies where it's just accepted?

I hope things work out ok for all involved.

Perfect is the enemy of good. You can still criticise the use of child labour in cobalt mining even if you use something with that cobalt in it. Enough of the pointless purity testing

No one is asking for perfection.

The AI horses have already bolted from the stables, and there have been basically no regulations and guardrails implemented. The organs responsible for these have been systematically dismantled and gutted, all in the name of 'efficiency'

The real-life financial and health effects of this have been seen already in e.g some communities...

I hope things work out ok for all involved.

Absolutely agree. It's frustrating to see especially in open source communities where people have moved away from working together on a common solution to individually going off and vibecoding the same solution in different fonts.

I'm grateful that at least my workplace has effectively banned it unless approved by a governance board. So far the use cases are few and far between because a lot of it has just boiled down to "this has security risks/this is a waste of money/this is a dumb idea, do xyz instead"
