If AI is so good, why do they always want to hide that they’re using it.

What's the benefit of the tag? It seems to be it serves no purpose other than to be a lightning rod for ideological, rather than technical, discussions.

The merit of the code stands on its own. The responsibility of the code goes to the one who submitted it. I don't see any benefit to this tag.

If the code is bad, it is useful to know whether it comes from novicehood or from AI - someone who submits bad code needs advice to fix it, and the nature of that advice is different depending on where the badness came from. If someone doesn't know what a semaphore is, they can learn, but if the code was AI to begin with and the person barely knows C at all, they're unlikely to be able to learn usefully so it is not worth wasting the effort trying to teach them.

We're still in the early stages, so I'd say it should keep the tag, to generate more scrutiny on generated code. This might also help pick out plagiarized sections, or copyrighted code that the AI is pasting in that would cause issues with licensing down the line, when we finally get some regulations on AI.
