Development Flathub just reversed its AI-generated content ban, but developers still need to say they used it

Because every product larger than a single dev team has ai generation. Using Ai to just generate some boilerplate counts as ai generation. Hell using copilot's auto complete counts too

There's a mountain of difference between something containing ai generated code, and being vibe coded too

I agree, and we shouldn't focus on the declaration of AI but rather adherence to quality standards - which in itself filters out improper and negligent usage of AI tools, better known as 'AI slop,'.

My rule of thumb is if you can tell something has been generated with Ai, then you need to disclose it

If the quality is high enough that it's obvious that it's indistinguishable from typical code that's all fine to me. It means someone has tweaked whatever the ai output was, or used it in a limited supportive capacity

Actually this is the way most developers who care about use AI, from what I see. People “vibe coding” either don’t know what they’re doing from the start or just don’t care about the product at all. It’s the new “Chinese cheap hardware that breaks after a week” but for software.
