Quit weed, GERD gone

I had been smoking basically daily for 20 years and have had terrible reflux the entire time. I never once connected it to weed. Two years ago I had to have my throat enlarged because all the reflux had caused it to close up and I was put on Prilosec 40mg a day for the rest of my life

Three weeks ago I decided to quit weed for unrelated matters and my GERD has nearly completely subsided. I even stopped taking my Prilosec with no issues (mainly because I started forgetting to take it because I had no symptoms anymore).

Anyways, just my experience but I’m never smoking again, GERD was ruining my life and now I believe it was mainly caused by the weed.

Oh, for reference, I would mainly vape but I’d also have time periods where I’d smoke.

Smoked for 17 years, had reflux my entire life as well. I am over 16 months sober now and while I had reflux issues basically all the time, I can probably count the times since quitting on one hand.

While smoking definitely plays a factor, I started smoking cigarettes again (fk me) and the issues still didn't come back. I am pretty sure, at least in my case, that it was mostly connected with stress and anxiety that the weed caused in my life..

I am still having some GERD issues but it's crazy how much better it got once I quit smoking

Same, I have to remind myself I basically never get heartburn anymore off of weed whereas it was a daily thing while smoking.

Ugh struggling with GERD now, and I’m pretty sure it’s THC related:(

Were you eating at night like after 8? Maybe not smoking you're not snacking before bed?

If anything I’m eating more now because my throat is giving me less issues. I had gotten to a point where it was difficult to eat in general because my throat was so inflamed I couldn’t swallow.
