4 years old Mobile dev wants to swtich careeer to other path. BUT HOW?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been working as a Mobile Developer for the past 4 years (iOS / Android / Flutter), but I’m feeling burned out/ready for a change. I’m looking to pivot into a new role or specialization, but I’m not sure what the smoothest transition would be or how to actually make the jump. Also AI can do most of my job pretty much perfectly with a good prompt. Either way I will be laid off within 2-3 years in best case scenario
A few quick details:
- Current Stack: Flutter
- Strengths: UI/UX implementation, API integration, problem-solving, project management, Communication
- Interests: Product Management
For those who have successfully transitioned out of mobile dev:
- What roles did you pivot into, and how transferable was your mobile background?
- How did you handle the transition? (e.g., internal transfer, side projects, certifications, networking?)
- What tech stacks or skills should I focus on bridging first?
Appreciate any advice, resources, or personal experiences!

definitely saw some flutter guys move into product management. with your background you already understand the pain of bad requirements and impossible deadlines so half the job is just not being the reason devs hate planning meetings
the UI/UX strength is unique cause many PMs come from marketing and have zero clue how actual screens get built. i would focus on that angle instead of trying to learn some new backend stack overnight
in my company we had one mobile lead who just started showing up to customer calls and taking notes nobody asked him to. after like 6 months they made him product owner for the app. basically invented the role himself

I am actually from Bangladesh. Here career switching is very difficult. I tried applying to almost 100 PM jobs. Got zero response.

AI is changing dev work, but your experience still counts. Product management could be a natural move with your Flutter background try getting involved in product decisions before making the switch.

I wanted to become a cyber engineer and I also did CTF on hacktheBox and tryHackMe but unfortunately here in bangladesh the number of job opportunities is very low.. Such a bad country it is 💯
