I made everything in Krita and then put the clips together in Kdenlive.

I was wondering if it is possible to circumvent this behavior. Let's say that I have a video loaded, and that i want to put one video to the left, and another one to the right (moving them by the exact project width), just outside of the viewport, and I want to nest them in a sequence so that, for example, when I scale them I could scale the entire sequence so that those clips become smaller and all appear in the viewport. Is that somehow possible? Right now, when I try to do this, the clips that were outside of the viewport before nesting, cannot be brought back in, I've tried using the transform and position and zoom effects.

I'm also curious about the title clips, because, there are instances where I want my text to go outside of the viewport upward and downward, and I don't want to use the built-in animation to move text because I want varying speed of the text movement, but the same issue applies. I've also tried increasing the viewport size to 200% and scaling down the frame to be 1080p via the transform effect, but the detail is lost. I hope that my wording was clear. Thanks in advance.

I wish to edit a video and give it a visual style similar to the video game "Kane & Lynch 2 Dog Days". It is a very peculiar style that I have not seen before, I think it is supposed to be reminiscent of online videos around 2005 when HD wasn't a thing yet on the internet. You can see that the developpers have added digital artefacts that you would see when the connection wasn't to good while trying to watch a video.

I have no idea what is the name of this style, if it even has one, are there any tutorials available online to help me mimick it with Kdenlive?

Guys im not good with editing ao i installed kdenlive to simplify things. I want to upload my contents on Instagram but just like other streamers( their cam is at up and their gameplay is in bottom) and i cant find what i want on internet i just need to learn this, nothing els fancy.

Hi im kinda a independent content creator for fun i got a 7700xt and i use windows 11 for most of my stuff kinda couldnt be used to linux im too novice for it and when i import my video to kdenlive it ask me to transcode but i cant use my amd gpu on windows and i wonder how can i enable the setting for use my gpu and have audio and video on it without forcing my CPU. any help is welcome

i just downloaded kdenlive earlier today to edit gaming clips with it, and it seems good but it keeps crashing when i try to add videos to timeline.
literally i can only add like 5 clips at a time, if i do more it wont let me do it and instead either freezes and stops responding for abt 5mins or crashes.
windows 10, newest kdenlive version from the official website idk how to check it but i installed it like 10h ago and it has crashed around 20 times and frozen 100s of times.

With the latest flatpak version 26.08.1, I have the issue that after some time using time remapping data is lost. It is still in the file (time_map entries) but not used when kdenlive loads the file. In the end I had to revert to a native version of kdenlive on trixie (version 25.04.3). Also with both the old and new version of kdenlive I have the situation that after some time saving stops working despite changes having been made.

Anyone else having these issues? I was also going to check the bugs page of kdenlive but that appears not to work (bugs.kde.org shows an error page).

I need to move the sprites I made for characters around the screen so im using the transform tool, but every time I do it ends up removing a few pixels from the image (if I wasnt using pixel art im sure this wouldn't be an issue) but is there anyway to stop this?

I'm on the standalone windows version 26.04.3 (if I got a bit confused and this isn't the version number I'll fix it in an edit)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to open a discussion to see if anyone else is running into a couple of very specific edge-case crashes in recent builds. For context, I’m running Kdenlive on Windows 11 with 32GB of RAM., I9 Processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. Outside of these two scenarios, the software has actually been incredibly stable for me during active editing, but these two triggers consistently cause the interface to go completely unresponsive. Only using the latest release version of Kdenlive, no beta

I plan on submitting formal bug reports, but I wanted to check in with the community first to see if these are known quirks or if others can replicate them.

1. The Mixed Framerate / Profile Switch Prompt

The first crash happens right at the start of a project. When I drop a mix of clips into the bin, Kdenlive does its job and detects that the first clip doesn't match the current profile, prompting me to switch the default frame size and rate.

If I am mixing 29.97 fps and 30 fps footage without pre-transcoding, interacting with this automatic profile-switch prompt frequently causes a hard freeze. I know I can disable this prompt entirely in the settings, but when working with mixed media, it's a helpful safety net, when it doesn't crash the UI.

1. UI Navigation During Proxy Generation

The second issue is a classic thread/UI lockup. If I import a large batch of footage and Kdenlive starts generating proxies, the UI becomes a ticking time bomb. Specifically, if I navigate through subfolders within the Kdenlive Project Bin while proxies are actively generating, the interface completely freezes.

My current workaround is literally "don't touch the interface." I've learned to just go grab a coffee while the proxies bake. Once they are done, I can click around safely again. It feels like a race condition or a UI thread blocking issue when the Project Bin is being updated simultaneously by the proxy worker and user navigation.

Is anyone else seeing this behaviour on Windows?

I'd love to know if this is a known bottleneck with the Windows build's thread management or if there are specific environment tweaks I can test before I gather the logs for the bug tracker.

I noticed that the MLT framework seems to recently have added adjustment layer support along with functionality for OpenFX, and that the both of them are implemented inside Shotcut; we know that OpenFX is coming to Kdenlive, but what about Adjustment Layers?

Could anyone potentially have information about this?

It would be a very nice to have feature

For example, in the first image. The top of the image in the sequence is cut off.

As a result, when I use that sequence as a clip in another sequence. The top is cutoff as well.

It will be really inconvenient to have to resize every asset used in the first sequence to make it all fit. So I want to ask is there a way to just resize the boarder to make all the images fit instead?

So recently I updated to Kubuntu 26.04 LTS and when I opened kdenlive it just... Wouldn't preview video? Audio works fine and it seems like it plays when I press play, but its perpetually a gray screen... Any ideas on how to fix this?

I recently switched my camera to 10-Bit Log recording and use technical LUTs and primaries to adjust and color grade.

My research into the workflow using Kdenlive led me to a bunch of posts saying that Kdenlive doesn't do any 10-Bit operations, and everything (when using effects) is instantly converted down to 8-Bit. Is that still true?

If so, what do I need to look out for and do I even benefit at all recording in 10-Bit Log?

im working on a better kdenlive version with all the features missing from premiere , for now i already added shutter angle effect , and and captions animation editor is working perfectly on this version , i will add an adjustment layer , what other features u want that are missing ? all the kdenlive team is ofcourse free to take my code and use it for the official kdenlive version
