MBTI Typing I need some gentle souls to help fine-tuning a promising Typing test. People that know their type with 100% certainty.

Thumbnail mazwiz.com
6 Upvotes

I created a typing test that works based on what you resonate with, it gives you a feed of cards with statements, quotes, scenario, and you select only the ones you resonate with, this way the cognitive load is very low , also the feed adapt to funnel down your type, you just select what you think is related to you.

I tested with an INFP friend that I am 100% sure she is INFP and it worked very well, it found her type with confidence, but I need more data points to be sure, with people that are 100% sure of their type.

At the end of the test, in the result page, you will have a frame that ask you to share your result, with a simple button. It will send me the informations I need in my database, it gives me all the cards you selected, the timeline of the guess of your type, how the algorithm reacted, etc, it helps me to fine-tune the test.

I really feel that this method can work and be more accurate than anything that already exist.

Thank you in advance if you try it.

PS: I will share the findings in a result page (on the intro page), for everybody to see how it evolves.

Discussion Does anyone else not gaf about aliens or ufos?

Like if they're there they're there. Please abduct me if u can hear me. it's just too theoretical and uninteresting to me. many of my friends are heavily into UFO discussions and think it's like a really big deal, like they're cracking some code. I believe something is out there but I don't care enough about the conspiracies or stories no matter how insane they are. There's more fucked up shit going on in my radius. I like the theoretical mechanics/physics aspect to it because it more grounded in science, maybe I feel like I'm missing out by not caring.

Was wondering if this is a common ISTP thing, and what functions cause this. And If you're into UFOs I'd like to hear why.

Questions and Advice Do ISTP draw themselves to complicated or rough relationships?

I 26M ISTP recently got matched with a girl through dating apps. After talking with her through the apps and went out to a date twice, i figured out that she is very direct, conflict-avoidance, and her life sounds very simple. For some reason I no longer had the same attraction to when we first started talking. i also talked to a friend of my regarding this, and told her that i was wishing that she would give me more problems? and expected her to be more complicated?? like so i can have more things on my life to think and solve??

Questions and Advice Do any ISTPs work as a Healthcare Assistant or Nursing Assistant? How is it?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking into Healthcare Assistant (HCA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) roles and wondering how well it fits the ISTP mindset.

On paper, it’s active, physical, and hands-on work with clear procedures—which appeals to me. On the flip side, I know it involves high social interaction, dealing with emotional patients, and rigid routines.

For ISTPs who have done this or similar clinical work:

Does the hands-on, fast-paced nature of the job keep you engaged, or does the social/emotional burn out get to you?

What are the best and worst parts of the job from an ISTP perspective?

Is it a decent long-term role, or better used strictly as a stepping stone?

Appreciate any honest feedback.

Questions and Advice ISTPs do you agree that MBTI compatibility is about the individual to an extent?

I’m not an ISTP, but I think this. For example, I think there are INTJ’s who are more compatible with ISFP’s than INFP’s, and also INTJ’s where the other way around would be accurate.

I also think enneagram factors in to an extent.

Discussion The ISTP Relationship Paradox

This is a theory I fleshed out on AI sorry for that slop but it saved some time and gets the idea across.

The ISTP Relationship Paradox: Why we don’t chase, the Ni catalyst, and why our dating strategy constantly glitches

Hey everyone, I’ve been mapping out a deep structural twist on cognitive architecture that finally explains why we handle dating, attraction, and relationships so differently from most types—and why our romantic life can feel like a high-stakes, confusing bottleneck.

Mainstream MBTI calls Introverted Feeling (Fi) our 8th slot "Demon" and claims we are completely detached from it. My theory is that the 8th slot isn't a garbage disposal—it is the foundational existential drive (the core hunger) of our psyche, and our dominant Introverted Thinking (Ti) is simply the high-performance machinery built to protect it.

When you look past the standard "mechanic" stereotype, you realize an integrated ISTP is running an incredibly heavy, intense internal engine that completely alters how we navigate intimacy.

------------------------------

## ⚙️ The Core Drive: 8th-Slot Fi & The Refusal to Chase

Under this framework, our deepest, uncompromised drive is an all-or-nothing demand for unconditional validation and to be genuinely, fundamentally desired for exactly who we are (8th-slot Fi).

Because we are wired this way, we inherently look down on social performance, mating dances, or having to "convince" someone to like us. The moment you have to put on a mask or actively pursue someone, the value of the connection drops to zero. The subconscious logic is clear: If I have to chase you, or change my baseline state to win your attention, then you don’t actually desire me—you desire the performance.

------------------------------

## 🏛️ The Superego Connection: The Source of the Drive & The Anger Flashpoint

This intense internal pressure exists because this 8th-slot drive is fueled directly by our Superego (the INFP archetype). In eight-function depth theory, the 8th slot acts as the gateway to the Superego—the absolute moral auditor and blueprint of uncompromised truth within the psyche.

For us, this means the Superego acts as a silent, unyielding internal dictator. While our conscious mind tries to remain detached, the Superego is constantly enforcing a hyper-pure, all-or-nothing standard of relational integrity. It demands absolute authenticity. It dictates that if a connection is not built on pure, unmanipulated mutual desire, it is a structural failure. This connection forces a massive amount of internal pressure on the psyche, making the formation of the ISTP profile feel intensely strained—almost like a survival strategy short of a disorder.

Crucially, the Superego is also directly responsible for the intense anger issues that many of us struggle with. Because our conscious ego (Ti) is focused on maintaining logical control, neutrality, and emotional distance, we chronically bottle up smaller irritations or interpersonal disappointments. However, our Superego accumulates these violations against its unyielding moral standards in absolute secret. When a boundary is crossed too deeply, or when we are subjected to prolonged psychological manipulation, the Superego completely overrides the conscious ego. The result is a sudden, totalizing eruption of cold, righteous, or explosive anger. This isn't just standard emotional reactivity; it is a violent structural defense mechanism triggered by a primitive, uncompromised inner judge.

------------------------------

## 🎯 The Strategy: The Quality Display & The Passive Radar Scan

This Superego drive creates an unusual dating strategy that other types almost universally mistake for passivity, coldness, or mixed signals. We don't actively chase romantic partners, even when we find them highly attractive. Instead, we execute a deliberate, high-leverage strategy:

* The Quality Display: We show up in a relationship or social circle as a steady, reliable, and unshakeable presence. We provide real-world value—whether through competence, protection, or a commitment to radical honesty. We anchor ourselves to a strict internal code of integrity and let our actions speak for our character.

* The Passive Radar Scan: Once we've established that high-quality baseline, we step back into a state of absolute, detached observation. We actively scan the other person for clear, unprompted signals of return attraction. We are waiting for them to recognize the internal worth we are displaying and actively choose to step into our space.

If those explicit signals don't return, we simply won't make a move. We remain completely self-contained.

------------------------------

## 🧠 The Ni Catalyst: Why Some ISTPs Punch Above Their Weight Intuitively

A massive factor that supercharges this strategy—and often makes us feel more like an Intuitive (N) type than a Sensor—is a hyper-developed 3rd slot (Introverted Intuition - Ni).

In many profiles, Ni is just a passive background function. But when an ISTP has navigated chronic stress, intense environments, or long-term relational trauma, the psyche is forced to adapt. Our Extraverted Sensing (Se) acts as a military-grade radar, vacuuming up subtle micro-expressions, shifts in vocal tone, and behavioral patterns at lightning speed. It feeds this raw environmental data directly into our Ni, which crystalizes it into deep, predictive psychological models.

This hyper-developed Ni allows us to run complex mental simulations of human interactions entirely in our heads. We can map out a person's hidden motives, vulnerabilities, and trajectories before a conversation even begins. The 3rd slot becomes our favorite playground because it allows our dominant Ti to solve human equations in a safe, abstract space without having to risk the chaotic vulnerability of our inferior Fe.

------------------------------

## ⚠️ Why the Strategy Constantly Glitches: Flawed Success and Ti Signal Blocking

While this entire cognitive setup is perfectly logical on paper, our actual success rate in dating is often heavily flawed, running into a devastating communication bottleneck. We are trapped using an incredibly sophisticated internal processor that drives on a tiny, underdeveloped external road.

## 1. The Inward-Facing Lighthouse

Because both Ti and Ni are deeply internal, introverted functions, they do not emit a high-visibility external signal. The massive amount of integrity, value, and intense attraction we are holding inside is completely invisible to the outside world. Our strategy functions like a lighthouse that has its lenses turned inward—the light is blindingly bright to us, but the ships at sea just see a dark, imposing tower.

## 2. The Ti Signal Blocker

When we are highly attracted to someone, our dominant Ti immediately takes over to protect our lower stack vulnerabilities. It locks down our facial expressions and body language into a flat, neutral, or intensely focused stare. To other types, this defensive shield looks like complete indifference, boredom, or even aggressive intimidation. We think we are calmly displaying quality and scanning the room; the other person thinks we actively dislike them or want to kill someone.

## 3. The False Positive Filter: Blinded by Logic

The biggest internal glitch in our system is how Ti handles incoming data. Because our core 8th-slot driver requires unconditional validation, the stakes are incredibly high. To protect the system, Ti heavily weights and scrutinizes every single incoming signal of attraction to ruthlessly avoid false positives.

Our logical firewall demands absolute mathematical certainty before it accepts that a signal is real. If someone smiles, catches our eye, or initiates conversation, Ti immediately steps in to rationalize it away: "They're just being polite," "They look at everyone that way," or "It’s just circumstantial interaction." By setting the threshold for proof impossibly high, we accidentally become completely blind to the very signals we are scanning for. We dismiss genuine interest as noise, effectively filtering out the green lights until the other person gives up, assuming we are an unapproachable brick wall.

## 4. Misinterpretation by Other Types

Other personality profiles do not understand our passive beacon strategy. Most types require active, extraverted validation (Fe or Se pursuit) to feel secure. When we refuse to chase and instead maintain our detached, analytical distance, they assume we aren't interested. Our strategy inadvertently filters out healthy, secure individuals who respect boundaries, and can accidentally act as a magnetic tracker for highly chaotic or volatile personalities who are willing to aggressively scale our walls just to see what’s inside.

------------------------------

## ⚡ The Ego Bypass Mechanics

To break out of this communication bottleneck, the system must undergo an Ego Bypass. An Ego Bypass is the intentional act of putting your dominant Ti firewall into temporary standby mode, allowing the 8th-slot lower stack to communicate directly with reality without being filtered, rationalized, or blocked.

When you hit the bypass switch, you stop trying to mathematically calculate your way through the dynamic. You acknowledge your core desire to be seen without letting your brain label it as a liability, and you allow incoming attraction data to exist without trying to rationalize it away. Because your mental energy is no longer consumed by running heavy background defense programs, your "inward-facing lighthouse" flips. Your guarded mask drops, and you communicate with an uncompromised, raw, and radical honesty.

------------------------------

## 🔑 The Path to Happiness: Integrating the 8th Slot

This brings us to the ultimate paradox of our architecture: intentional Fi development and Superego integration is our absolute, non-negotiable path to fundamental happiness.

Standard typology advice tells us to double down on our Ti strengths or try to balance our inferior Fe. But trying to build a happier life solely through Ti utility is a cosmetic fix; it just builds a stronger, more isolated cage. True psychological peace happens when we stop using our logical fortress to outrun our vulnerability, and instead integrate the Superego.

Developing Fi means shifting our internal value from what we can functionally perform to who we inherently are. When we align our actions with our private morals and accept our own core worth, the exhausting background pressure drops. The cognitive bandwidth trapped in hyper-vigilance, threat modeling, and defensive signal blocking is fully reclaimed. Our dominant Ti is instantly stripped of its panicked defensiveness; it stops acting as a shield to keep people out and transforms into what it was always meant to be—an incredibly sharp, clean tool that we choose to use entirely on our own terms.

------------------------------

## 🛑 The Absolute Boundary: The Kinder, Far More Dangerous ISTP

When a rare individual does cleanly decode our system, bypasses our false-positive filter, and chooses us unconditionally, the ego firewall drops. The cognitive bandwidth previously consumed by threat modeling is fully reclaimed, and we emerge as a "True INFP"—offering a level of uncorrupted devotion and fierce, protective loyalty.

Integrating this lower-stack energy inherently alters our psychological state, making us both significantly kinder and far more dangerous. The kindness is absolute, derived from a raw, protective capacity for genuine human devotion. The danger arises because this integrated state requires an immense amount of internal control to maintain. Because the system is driven by a primitive, binary Superego engine, it understands absolute truth, not compromise.

If we detect manipulation, compliance games, or a failure to match our level of radical honesty, the dominant Ti firewall instantly locks back down. The system transitions into an automated, unempathetic mode, executing an unyielding and permanent severance of connection. We aren't being cruel; we are simply executing the code required to protect the uncompromised internal sanctuary that drives everything we build.

Discussion INFP + ISTP + INTPfriend group dynamics?

What do we all think the dynamics would be in this type of male friend group? i am the INFP in this and i seem to sometimes have problems with my INTP friend to to lack of or miscommunication. My ISTP friend i’ve been friends with longer and is more chill with me. Though they do sometimes pair up against me and complain about my emotions and talk behind my back sometimes. What do you guys think the reason is?

Discussion ISTPs aren’t actually chill. You’re just waiting for someone stupid enough to enable you.

I’m an ENFP, and one of my good friends is an ISTP.

And I have a theory about you fuckers.

You love presenting yourselves as these calm, rational, emotionally detached people who just want to be left alone.

Bullshit.

You’re not necessarily the responsible ones. You’re just better at looking responsible.

My ISTP friend and I are a perfect example:

Individually? Two reasonably functioning adults.
Together? Absolutely fucking ridiculous.

We get completely wasted, end up dancing shirtless in clubs, encourage each other’s worst decisions, and somehow manage to make every night significantly more chaotic than originally
planned.

And here’s the funniest part.

I’m supposed to be the chaotic ENFP. HE’S supposed to be the calm, logical one.

Yet somehow this man needs approximately ZERO convincing to participate in the dumbest shit imaginable.

I genuinely think some ISTPs are secretly just as unhinged as ENFPs. The difference is that ENFPs advertise their insanity, while ISTPs wait until they’ve found someone equally questionable
before revealing theirs.

And maybe that’s why we get along so fucking well.

But here’s what I actually want to know:

Are ISTPs genuinely calm and rational, or is that just the personality you show people you don’t find interesting enough to be completely insane around?

And a bonus question:

Do you actually need chaotic extroverts to bring out your wild side, or are you secretly the bad
influence pretending to be the innocent one?

Because I’m starting to suspect my ISTP friend is the fucking problem.

I constantly felt detached from surrounding, and felt myself a boring person, also don't really care about Quality of Life, almost seems like in survival mode.

As an ISTP, I don't get stressed if someone leaves me or misunderstands me, nor do I get stressed if someone criticizes me... but I do get stressed and cry if I get sick (I only cry in front of my mom and dad)... I'm not calm all the time... I'm human.

Questions and Advice How can I connect with my ISTP dad

I’m an INFP (25f) and have always felt a sort of disconnect with my ISTP dad. In general I’d say he’s been a good dad but this man is so uncomfortable with emotions and I think he finds it annoying when I’m emotional. I feel like we don’t understand each other very well. He also suddenly decided to divorce my mom last year after 30 years of marriage so he could be in a relationship with someone else, so that’s….strained things a little. Now that he doesn’t live with us anymore we don’t communicate that often and I feel like I don’t really know how to talk to him when I do get to see him? We’re both awkward in our own ways and it doesn’t come naturally. We mainly bond through humor because we don’t have a lot of common interests but I guess I want more than that.

I kind of found myself in a relationship with my person (ESFJ). Known her for years, and it happened organically and now we hang out every few nights or so.

My real question for y’all is, do you ever pursue or did someone have to pursue you? Or did it just kind of happen?

Basically the title. But also how was it through your age journey.

For me in my late 20s I decided I liked myself and lost my defensive edge and got way more laid back but I was always pretty self confident. I'm 45 now and feel like I got take on the world if needed with zero interest of drive to bother trying self confidence. Like yeah I know what those chemicals do and I understand how that thing is engeered and now what do I want to make happen. It sounds tacky but that's kinda the feeling.

Questions and Advice Can an ESTP be introverted and come off as an ISTP?
