Support iPhone Acts Weird When Getting In My Car

Post image

For the past few days, my phone has been acting super weird when I get in the car. I drive a 2026 Chevy Equinox. What happens is, I’ll get in the car, and after a few minutes my phone will close and give a pop up with “Activation Required” and then acts like I just updated it to a new version, giving me the Hello in different languages. It doesn’t let me back into my phone until I get a WiFi connection which I typically don’t have in the car. This is a huge problem because I lose access to music and the phones map app for GPS. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Contact your carrier. Seems like an issue on their end, where some towers don't know you.

Do you happen to live in an area where reception is weak?

What happened is that your phone deactivated itself

Not really. I don’t understand this

Basically, your phone either disconnected from the network briefly enough to believe it connected to another and prompt re-activation (usually because it's SIM-locked).

This shouldn't normally happen because the only other way to trigger this is plugging into a computer and manually deactivate the device.
