Why do they need to spin them 360 degrees as they put them in the water?

Treating for parasites. It’s just to allow time for the solution to get all the way through the wool to the skin to ensure proper treatment. This allows batching them relatively easy instead of one at a time in a straight trough.

I think they meant before they go in the water. The people handling the sheep spin them around once they enter the pen thing, before putting them in the part with the water.

Sheep are dumb but not so dumb that they don’t recognize the water/edge. Turning them around and pushing them in is less hassle.

Looks like going butt first also keeps their head above water. The treatment might not be ideal in eyes or ear/nose holes, as well as to not induce panic if their face goes underwater

At the end they actually push the head down into the water before the sheep leave, it is safe for their face. I would assume the backwards thing just helps guide them in with less pushback.

Have you seen the Australian video where the contraption cages and completely submerges a bunch of them at the same into the dip, holds them under “water” for 10/15 seconds before letting them out.
