It took quite some time making the entire quickshell and yeah a lil ai is used cause i ain't that good at frontend.

this rice is specially for hyprland it is yet to be compatible with niri and other wm so if you are plan on downloading it use hyprland.

I get intermittent ~1 second freezes of the whole desktop on Hyprland with two monitors. Audio keeps playing. It’s easiest to trigger with Twitch and YouTube open in Firefox plus fast mouse movement. After a lot of A/B testing, it looks like the freezes only happen when the two outputs run at clearly different refresh rates.

System

• Arch Linux, kernel 7.2.9-arch1-1
• Hyprland 0.56.2 (Lua config), Aquamarine DRM backend, Wayland
• NVIDIA RTX 3050 8GB, nvidia-open-dkms 615.78.08, nvidia-utils 615.78.08
• Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, MSI B450M-A PRO MAX
• Monitor 1: BenQ EX2510, HDMI-A-1, 1920x1080 @ 144 Hz
• Monitor 2: Fujitsu Siemens E19W-5, DP-1, 1440x900 @ ~75 Hz
• VRR is off on both

Test matrix (same workload every time)

Each monitor is fine on its own, and the pair is only smooth when the rates are nearly equal. Even a roughly 2:1 ratio (120 + 59.89) freezes, so it isn’t enough for the rates to be harmonically related.

Things I ruled out

• Hardware cursors: freezes still happen with cursor:no_hardware_cursors = 0
• Firefox hardware acceleration: already disabled
• CPU, RAM, and SSD: low CPU pressure, ~11 GiB RAM available, iostat shows low utilization and almost no iowait during reproduction
• Individual monitor, cable, or DP link: each works alone
• Logs: no new NVIDIA/DRM errors in journalctl -k, and hyprctl rollinglog shows nothing freeze-related, so it looks like a stall with no reported error

Hi guys! I switched from Nobara to CachyOS about 10 days ago. I've been using KDE for a long time, so this is my first attempt at ricing Hyprland (I know it's still pretty basic!).

I've customized my wallpapers, added my monogram wherever I could haha, changed the color palette, created custom cursors (which was a nightmare since I was working with an old .ani cursor file), changed fonts, modified a Spotify theme, customized the VSCodium environment, and even programmed a simple Matrix-style animation that displays lines from Dante's Divine Comedy in the background (I saw everyone here using cmatrix, but I wanted to make my own).

I'm looking for tips and good resources for animations and custom icons. Any recommendations are welcome!

Every morning I open the same three windows in the same arrangement, and every morning I rebuild it by hand. So I made a tool that saves the arrangement once and rebuilds it with one keystroke.

What the GIF shows: empty desktop, I press SUPER+SHIFT+T, the apps launch and the windows land exactly where I left them — position and size, one by one.

A few things I cared about: - Missing apps are relaunched automatically (launch commands are captured from /proc) - Geometry is stored as percentages of the monitor, so the same layout works at any resolution - You can also define a layout from a screenshot: a local vision model detects the window regions and assigns apps to them - Works on any Hyprland, no cloud, MIT

A small update to the wallpaper picker I published recently separately from my rice. It now has two new options, firstly is whether to play videos in preview or not and whether you want an animation of the selected card or not.
Previewing a video uses a considerable memory but it was a requested feature so I added it as well as for the animation it was added because why not :). Also added an update section for those of you who already have my wallpaper picker installed.

The thing I'm proudest of is the boot: I log in on a tty, type `karin-shell`, and Karin assembles herself out of glyphs before Hyprland starts (first pic). It's a tiny Python script))

I've finally made Hyprune public. The idea started with a simple question: what if the computer itself were a place you could explore? Some background first. This started when I was playing around with and contributing to Hypr3D by Samine. If what you want is your windows in 3D inside Hyprland, it's a great plugin and you should go check it out. I'll keep sending Samine fixes and anything I think will help. I started my own project because I wanted to go in a direction that clearly isn't what Hypr3D is aiming for. I wanted complete worlds, plus the whole system around them: a compositor plugin, a Quickshell shell/HUD, an SDK and CLI, a versioned world format, and Nix/NixOS/Home Manager kits so it installs as a whole session. Your workspaces live somewhere in the world. Your terminal sits on a desk in one room, your monitoring kiosk in another, and you walk or warp between them. Humans are really good at spatial memory, and keeping a project in its own room helps me focus in a way a numbered workspace never has. The long-term goal is a world you can work in and also take a break in by exploring it, with adventures and missions coming later. Or you can build your own worlds that are actually more efficient to work in than a regular tiling layout. It's an early preview targeting Hyprland 0.56.2. There's a Minimal kit (one quiet room, light enough for iGPUs) and Lumen Reach, the first full world. Everything is MIT, and world content is CC-BY. I'd love feedback, bug reports, and especially anyone who wants to make a world.

Does anybody know how to set up full mouse controlls from keyboard? Like, I saw in the wiki the API for controlling the mouse cursors position, but I would like to replace mouse entirely, cause it broke and trackpad sucks and I need to work with portable laptop.

So does anybody know how its done?

I tried setting up wl-kbptr for jumps and its kinda good but like ... it still doesnt provide scroll.

And before constructing a francensteins monster of an AUR app per action I wanted to ask here for help.

I BEG YOU PLEASE DONT HATE. Alright? Okay. So essentially I was trying to start off with the docs for qs but I found it was really like reading a wall of code. Mostly from all the examples… it felt like a big load to read.

Then I found this guide. It made some pretty crazy claims… so I bought it, for $67. It said it would give me the groundwork for said rice.

I fell for snake oil, okay? I should’ve just read the docs. But I want to know if I should use it (I calculated the total course content to be about 12 hours minus the fluff) or just use the docs… I already spent money.

finally, after 10 gruelling hours, I got the expandable panel working 😭😭

Been searching about this for some time, nothing is coming up. I would love to go to the terminal and type in xkill and point at the window to kill it.

Yo guys I am no new to hyprland but since I haven't use computer for a while so I decided to completely delete hyprland and reinstall it . But in the process I go to hyprland environment variables but I can't see the nvidia variables and xdg specific variables can you guys tell me which variables I choose . I have laptop Asus tuf A16 5070 mobile I use arch Linux . That's it . If you willing to help me I appreciate it thanks I am not very good English but I tried

Blur is enabled globally and for swaync, both the control center and the notifications themselves. It happened after a recent global update, reverting swaync alone didn't fix it.
