Sometimes I feel these announcements are only for investors and not even for B2B sales.

I agree there is an investor dimension to these developments, but that's just the state of the tech industry as of present. All big bad things serve AI, and AI needs endless capital, so developments are framed in terms of enabling AI to attract more investors. It's circular, but this is still a real advance in the pluggable optics, that it is, in theory, possible to piggy-back off of.
