Rule 9 in force effective immediately

Hi all, its me again. We're introducing Rule 9 effective immediately. We've seen certain individuals on this subreddit requesting users to DM them or requesting GH support on this subreddit and we just want to make a couple things clear by implementing this rule.

  1. GH support is not permitted in this subreddit in any way, shape or form. That's why you will never see them, and if somebody contacts you or comments saying they are, they're lying and will likely be permabanned anyways even if they were GH support as GH support is banned from participation here.
  2. Requesting a user to DM you is not only suspicious, but can also be done in an attempt to circumvent our rules, in particular with Rule 7 in contravening GH's Terms of Service which we do enforce here. You do not need to DM anybody, and you do not need anybody to DM you. If you need mentoring etc. do it publicly where everybody can benefit.
  3. This rule allows us justification to punish those who randomly DM users on our subreddit with malicious intents. We didn't need a rule to justify it, but it certainly helps. Scammers etc. exist everywhere, especially when money's involved like it is here. Don't fall for scams, don't accept random DM requests from this subreddit or about GH and you'll be fine.

I hope you all can appreciate the reasoning for this rule coming to be, and thank you for being part of our community. Please continue to report rule-infringing posts and comments and they will be reviewed.

You can discuss and post about your monthly earnings here. The low-effort rule does not apply within this thread, but all other rules still do. You cannot post about your monthly earnings anywhere else but here.

Was i in the wrong here? I had to cancel an order after waiting for 20 min

I'm a driver and was assigned two orders to pick up. i picked up the first one with no issues just fine, but the 2nd one the doors were locked giving me the impression the place was closed. but i could see on the window that they were open until 10 pm and it was only about 8:50. Also it was one of those ghost kitchens where multiple food vendors make orders there for pick up. I called the restaurant and told them the doors were locked which he sounded surprised and told me to wait a minute while he tells them. so i hung up and waited maybe 5 min and got no call back or anyone answering the door still. So i called them again and yet again i had to explain that the doors were locked and i could not go in and pick up the delivery. they said ok just wait 2 more minutes... 5 minutes pass and other drivers start showing up and they are also locked out. I call up grubhub help, explained the situation and they attempted to call them but this time the vendor didn't answer them. They told me to wait 5 more minutes and then cancel. I waited about 20 minutes total (15 just waiting out there after they told me to wait plus 5 more after grubhub help to me to wait a bit longer) and i also sent the customer the stock message about the 'restaurant is still making their order'. i got fed up and decided to cancel the order on my end because i still had a 2nd delivery to do and worried about it getting cold.

So i went on my way but about midway on my way to deliver the other order the customer calls me asking what happened. i calmly explained that i was waiting for 20 minutes outside and the doors were locked and i had another delivery to do and that another driver would pick that up for her. they sounded annoyed but they said they would call the restaurant which i was fine with. so i just about reached the destination for the other delivery when they call again and tell me the restaurant had her order ready but i cancelled. i explained that the restaurant lied to me because they said they would have the order in two minutes and instead i waited there almost 20 along with other delivery drivers wondering why the place is closed too. Apparently because i cancelled that means the order altogether was cancelled. but she didn't accept that answer and said she won't be getting her food and hung up on me.

I guess im not sure what i could have done there. the restaurant kept telling me someone would come to give it to me but it didn't happen. and i had the other delivery to do which was getting cold by the minute. Was i wrong here? What would you have done?

This is how you know this stats is based on last week.

On my last delivery I was at 79% on time diner. And the last four hours before updates this is my current. And I now end up at Pro. This update at 10 is BS. They should just change it to update it at 12 midnight.

These new violations are so fake

I’ve been doing GH for nine years, delivered probably 12,000 orders, why am I suddenly ‘getting violations’ for my picture quality? This is BS.

Done with Taco Bell

Who else has had it with Taco Bell? You can’t get anyone’s attention, they are slow and we as drivers get penalized for their slow service.

Grubhub zooming the map allll the way out and freezing it so you can’t see where the locations are, and giving out account violations if you unassign once you’re able to see it???

Grubhub giving out account violations for unassigning offers after not allowing us to see where we are going!! What’s your take on this????? Is it time to prioritize the OTHER food delivery apps over GrubHub like DoorDash and UberEats since GrubHub is trying to bamboozle and compromise their own drivers??

I feel bad cause Five Guys restautant left out 1 milkshake, 1 soda and the extra patty I asked for. When the driver pulled out the bag zi was so puzzled cause having only 2 burgers snd a fry in it I thought the milkshake and soda wasnt in there...

So I asked if the order was for me thinking maybe it was someone else's and a different driver for a different restaurant. But it was mine. I felt bad cause I asked if he happened to have an extra bag but he didnt which meant the restaurant left something out (the first time I ordered from Five Guys they gave me someone else's order from Post Mates.)

The point being I feel bad cause I didn't want to give the driver the impression I was gonna complain about HIM. He was great. I just hate asking at the door thinking if the restaurant left something out. I'm just not gonna ask if there's an extra bag cause I dont want to scare the driver.

I gave the driver 5 stars and hoped drivers could read the reviews to know I was happy with him as a driver but I read they can't. I just feel bad being super empathetic. Anyway.. I gave him a $15 tip for less than a mile cause it was raining. I usually tip $10 for less than a mile. I used to tip $20 since its different from when I order from across the street but people in this subreddit said I wasn't too bright. 😂

Sorry for the typos: I type too fast.

Major Prop 22 System Glitch on Grubhub: 40 Active Hours Recorded as 2.5 Hours! Missing ~$400 (Sep 21 - Sep 27)

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a critical issue I'm currently facing in California to see if anyone else has experienced this or found a quick resolution.
For the week of September 21 - September 27, I completed around 40 active delivery hours. However, when the weekly adjustment was calculated, the system only recorded 2.5 active hours.
Because of this massive calculation error, my Prop 22 minimum earnings guarantee adjustment was underpaid by roughly $400.
What I've done so far:
1. Opened a support ticket via the driver app (got a generic automated response).
2. Replied with full proof (attached complete trip logs showing 40 hours and the faulty adjustment statement).
3. Escalated to driverpayment@grubhub.com and compliance emails — still no resolution or response.
Has anyone else seen this specific active hours glitch recently? Is support manually fixing these when escalated, or am I going to have to file a formal wage claim with the California DIR (Labor Commissioner)?
Screenshots attached with personal info redacted for proof.

Grub hub is over!

My account was deactivated for late deliveries but they’d send me to places far away so kool but even if I made it to a place on time, the order still wouldn’t be ready or id be in a long ass line. Got told I was misusing the not ready feature. Orders was already terrible! I’d get sent almost 50 bad orders in a row! I’d probably get one or two high paying orders a day which was like 12 dollars for 5 miles and then wouldn’t even let me finish that one before continuously sending more low orders

Is $4.20 tip good

Post image
2 Upvotes

I got charged per the photo, but added a custom tip of $4.20 bringing my total to about $25 and some change. Wish they'd give that $8 delivery charge to the driver and not have me tip, I'm sure most drivers would take an $8 tip.

I've been seeing the same screen for nearly 2 days. I spoke to the customer care and they said my account is fine but I am unable to schedule any hours. Is anyone facing the same issue as me?

Quick Question - begginer

Hi community, I’m new to this platform and feeling a bit frustrated because my first week was great. I got really good orders and averaged 3–4 orders per hour. But now, in my second week, I’m getting just one an hour, and the offers are totally ridiculous. Could you please give me some advice? Thanks.

What's up with drivers texting asking for the 2 digit code before drop off?

I've found the past few times I ordered food from GH the driver will ask for the code before they put it at the door (I usually say leave it at the door as the drop method). Thing is in the text I get it always says "**Please do not send your delivery code until you’ve confirmed where your food is." at the end of the text, are these drivers doing it wrong? I always just text the code anyways cuz I never had anyone try to steal my food, but I'm confused by these instructions.

Got a promo +$50 for a delivery!?

After a long long time waiting, grubhub finally had a spot for me. I log in for about an hour each week, with not a single order coming through. However, I believe I just got a promo for +$50 if I do a delivery. The notification was pretty cut and clear, I just do at least one delivery and I will get a $50 bonus. I screenshotted inside of the app to compare this crazy new incentive vs what there regularly normally is. It is a shame that I can't seem to get a single order though. 😅 Should I stare at my phone for a few hours and try to see if an order will pop-up to try to get the $50? This is pretty freaking crazy haha!

Edit: It was real! Drove 16.2 miles for $8.82 (plus $50)

I didn't keep the food. They're one of those people who have a sign charging for a door knock

Account reinstatement due to updated license

Hi. I recently turned 21 therefore they needed my updated license. They suspended my account on Sept 19th after I failed to get it to them since I didn’t have it yet. I sent in a deactivation appeal in their system on Sept 23rd with pictures of my updated license and saying I would like reinstatement. It has now been almost 2 weeks and I Replied to the initial email response saying they received my appeal and they said allow up to 7 days with a re-upload of my license and stated that I appealed on said day still no response . Anyone know when I could be approved again, or why it is taking so long? I’ve lost a lot of money and opportunities from not being able to do Grubhub for this extended period of time.

Last week I had 222 reviews from my deliveries it refreshed and now I have 217? Wth do they fall off when a customers account gets cancelled? Or do costumers go back and delete them? I’m lost also the ones that got deleted were 5star reviews all others remained the same.

Well GrubHub it's been fun but, it's about time you go back to your decrepit little hole.

And anyone who know's what this is knows its placed right where the grass is greener, and still growing. GrubHub reminds me of a haunted house with spiderwebs and dead plants everywhere.

Or it's like being in a tumultuous relationship, leave and just say **deuce** ... and then never look back.

*edit*

Ok. I was wrong. Here I am all ready to hit the road and work. I log into ubereats. My lord the slop is immense!!!. 5 bucks for 11 miles. 4 bucks for 16 miles. I even got 1 dollar offer for 5 miles. I clearly stand corrected.

Deactivated account

So back in September I was working all month long but then on the 25th I received an email that said my account was deactivated or blocked due to 3 account violations. Ive only ever received 1. I submitted a appeal to get my account reactivated. Few days later I received an email saying there was a mix up and a bunch of accounts were given account violations and deactivated in my area and that they were going to remove them and reactivate my account. Almost 2 weeks later my account is still deactivated and ive been calling and waiting but this is my main source of income and I've been getting by on my savings but thats starting to disappear and I need my account reactivated. Does anyone if there's a way expedite this process ive been calling i keep getting the same "Im sorry but your appeal is still under review and will need to be patient ".

It makes sense, now.

I was watching a video earlier by GEN. He was talking about delivery apps and for the most part the experience people have now. He brought up a quote from Grubhub's former head of innovation, Collin Wallace said during Covid-19 "...Delivery platforms are not in the business of delivery. They are in the business of finance. In many ways, they are like payday lenders for restaurants and drivers. They give you the sensation of cash-flow, but at the expense of your long term future and financial stability. Once you "take out this loan" you will never pay it back and it will ultimately kill your business."

Ouch. I've seen plenty of videos that talk about gig apps. But damn from one of the former employees.

As his statement it continues...

"In the case for restaurants, these platforms slowly siphon off your customers and then charge you to have access to them. They are simultaneously selling these same customers to your competitors across the street, but, don't worry, they are also selling their customers to you.

For drivers, they are banking on a workforce that is willing to mortgage their assets like cars and time, well below market value, in exchange for money now. They know that most delivery drivers are simply not doing the math on actual cost of providing delivery (time, gas, car maintenance, payroll, taxes...etc). If they did, drivers would realize that they are actually the ones subsidizing the cost of delivery."

It is worth noting Collin states the food delivery technologies he invented are used for "evil." It does kind of make it more worth cherry picking. I know some might say this is pointing out the obvious or any number of things. But to hear such things from an actual former employee definitely hits differently. It's like my last hourly job my supervisor was upfront with me. He told me things used to be better, he's been there 5 years and has not got a pay raise and even more is that "they changed everything only ones who'll make good money is managers." I kind of told him based on information like co-owner in an active lawsuit... might be time to jump ship. This set of quotes just hit that same chord.

How often do you get such or better offers ?

I stopped & even deleted the app out of frustration after getting sick & tired of getting low pay/ long distance orders.

Re-installed & opened the app after a couple of weeks.

and then this... was it luring ? - because the rejection game started immediately after that...

Did this happen to you like finding a needle in the haystack?
