Photo Panting
I just adopted this little guy- approximately 4 months old from a rescue. He is panting all day long 24/7. I took him to the vet he doesn't have a fever. Is this normal for this breed? He was also shaved down before I got him so he's not hot from his hair
Edit- Thank you everyone!! I feel better now!!

Advice/Help Shampoo/Conditioner Recommendations
Winnie Cooper is a 10 year old GP/BC mix who describes herself as “gorgeous” and “aging gracefully”. I’m struggling with her undercoat right now and noticing how dry her fur and skin looks. She is prone to hot spots so I need something sensitive for her skin.
Does anyone have suggestions on shampoo/conditioner for this lovable pile of fur?
Thanks!!

Discussion Is it common for pyr and pyr mixes to whine or yelp very rarely?
I have a 6+ year old female pyr mix. Her other mixes are also lgds. She basically never whines or yelps even when she obviously gets hurt. She's a bruiser, she's clocked her head on tables, doors, hurt herself running around outside and never a peep. Step on her foot by accident? Nothing. Only noises she makes are barks and awoos.
My last dog was a mega mutt mix, no real what she was and she was a whiner. If you startled her she'd yelp like you had beaten her. Total night and day.
Is it a breed thing? A confidence thing? So curious to hear what might make a difference in how often your dog whines or yelps

Anyone else have a Pyr with very fine front teeth? Chloe is 4 1/2 and has some teeny tiny toofers in the front…
EDIT: Thank you all for easing my mind and showing off all those beautiful Pyr’s ❤️❤️❤️

Rescue/Shelter dog in need My girls glow up
We adopted her a little over a year ago and here’s her transformation since then… she was super unhealthy and was malnourished when we first got her, ppl would give my family dirty looks in public thinking we did that to her but we didn’t, anyways now she’s perfectly healthy and sooooo much happier. She’s a completely different dog 🥲

Discussion Does anyone else grill for theirs?
Whenever I grill I make a plain hamburger patty for my buddy. I usually season what I’m cooking with garlic so I can’t give him a piece of mine.

Advice/Help Tips and advice on adopting a Great Pyrenees
Title kinda says everything. I've recently been looking for another dog to give my smaller female dog company (39 lbs) and myself company. I have five cats as well including my brother, sister and parents.
I recently applied for adopting a four year old male Great Pyrenees.
We have a three story house and a fenced backyard. I've been doing research online but I feel getting answers from genuine owners instead of websites would be more beneficial for me.
Are Great Pyrenees good with cats, other dogs kids etc? Someone is always home so he won't be alone often unless we go on a vacation and even then I have friends who check on our animals.
Do they resource guard or anything like that?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Photo We said goodbye to our boy today.
I posted here a few months ago about our boy Apache getting diagnosed with cancer. Well, after spending the last few months taking him to all his favorite places, eating all his favorite foods, and celebrating one last birthday, we decided it was time for him to cross the rainbow bridge. With him getting kicked by a horse and breaking his jaw, twisted stomach, numerous allergies and finally cancer we were so lucky to have 10 wonderful years with him. He was a resilient and stubborn boy that was loved so much and will be missed even more. I will miss him yelling at anything that ventured passed his yard and dragging me around town ro all his favorite spots. Anyway just wanted to share with people who understand just how special this breed is. Here is our sweet boy Apache. 😭🤍
Picture 2 is him with his sister Nakoma, that we lost to cancer on 7/31/25
Picture 4 is him with his sister Tundra, that we lost as a puppy unexpectedly on 4/13/26

Discussion Training an adolescent and off leash dogs
This is a rant regarding off leash dogs and trying to train a pyr or pyr mix. My guy is 18 months, thick of adolescence, semi reactive when he's overstimulated and excited about seeing another dog. For this purpose I had found some secluded hiking trails and parks that were rough enough that the average dog owner wasn't there and close enough to my house as to not be an issue. They've been great for months. Weekdays I'd do a 3-4 mile hike in the early morning, weekends we'd do a much longer trail. Now? Every one of those locations is overrun by people as early as 7AM. They come with their dogs, tiny and huge, off leash, go hiking, my dog gets overexcited, and then I'm leaving trying to find somewhere else to do our long hikes. Some weekends we're in the car for over an hour just trying to find a safe place to walk. Then we find one only for someone to show up, release their dog, and get offended that I'm trying to leave. I don't care if your dog is friendly, if your dog is on a "recall device", if your dog's recall was trained by a navy seal (real excuse I heard from one of them). I'm trying to keep my pup under threshold and work him up to being calm on trails. He's huge. It is important. Leash signs are posted everywhere. No one follows them. Can we just talk about how hard it is nowadays in some places to train a giant dog when options for safe outdoor spaces are becoming more and more scarce in some places?
