This is a wild goose I have bonded with over the past year. I named her Peggy.๐๐ชฟ I have never saw a goose that looks like her before around where I live. She has orange feet and a little pink and orange nose and I love them๐๐๐๐๐

Do most folks in this subreddit keep geese as pets or as livestock? I ask because I really like the fact that geese are graders, but they seem to bond strongly with their mates, so wouldn't harvesting them traumatize their mates. The flock?

She says 0/10, not tasty. A fashion faux pas.

The boss charged and yanked on my pant leg. It was amusing.

Hello, we are planning to get two Roman tufted geese this next spring. We are not new to having poultry in the garden, but we will be new to having geese. The plan is for them to free range in the security yard during the day and be locked up secure at night. We have so much grass in our yard. I have felt confident that the geese would be happy with what they have to forage on, but it has occurred to me that during the heat of the summer, our grass goes dormant. What are other peopleโs experiences of allowing their geese to free range in their yards and their feelings about the quality of feed that their foraging can provide for the geese? Do the geese become extra destructive of other plant life in the yard when and if your grass goes dormant temporarily? We are talking about a pretty large yard space and only two geese so Iโm not worried about them killing all of my grass. I just know that foraging is important for geese and I want to be sure I am preparing adequately for them.

I was in a rural creek near a highway (read: bfe no where, southern USA) looking for rocks when I saw this goose SCREAMING swimming back and forth in a very small area, obviously distressed.
*There are NO other waterfowl in the area*
I walked through the water to her and picked her up.
She (?) didn't bite, hiss, or do anything. She mostly just sat in my passenger's seat for the hour long drive home.
*I checked local farms in the immediate area, no one had geese
I have two options:
1. Keep her, and try my best to give her a decent life
2. Take her to a local duck pond area where people feed ducks and geese all the time and where people regularly leave domesticated waterfowl, including other geese.
Someone suggested she may have been hand raised from an incubator. I assume she has no survival skills judging by how she was in the creek. She was hungry and thirsty when I got her home.
If I kept her, I'd make a stall for her in our barn with a baby pool, and let her out when I can supervise her, take her swimming, and probably get her a harness and take her with me places since she seems to enjoy car rides.
But that's not a natural goose life. We lease, so I can't give her what I want to which is her own massive enclosure with a true pond to swim in.
I have no idea what to do. I also worry bringing her to the duck pond area, she'd be hurt or harassed by kids who chase the ducks/geese since she has NO fear of people.

Chat gbt said it was likely a domestic farm goose cross breed with a Canadian goose.
Has anyone else seen or know about this?
