Soo... Story time !

A while ago I was very anti-furry, despite being pretty open minded otherwise.

I realised recently, thanks to a friend, that they're just a specific type of cosplayers.

The way that happened is that my friend took me to a convention without telling me what it was exactly, and as a surprise. He was a furry at the time (still is), and he wanted to show me how it really was so I can stop being brainwashed by what the loud minority of internet haters say. At the start I was very angry and disgusted. But it only took a few hours for me to realise this convention was actually super nice and people there were actually not all predators (yes that's what I believed). Also finding a community that is super accepting of LGBT people really made me feel more comfortable. (I am gay and come from a very conservative family so this wasn't something I was used to encounter)

Anyway we had a lot of fun and during the day we spent there, I really changed my views on furries.

And this lead me down a rabbit hole of realisations, where I realised I was kinda both jealous of them for doing their favourite hobby soo openly, and considering that I may have acted like my bigoted great uncle in the eyes of my friend.

Anyway, I didn't become a furry but I learned a thing about hating people without knowing them. And I think that on my long list of potential hobbies, this may not be the last thing I'd try anymore.
