Question Maglight

Post image

I have a question would it be better for me to change the halogen bulb in both of my mag lights to LED or keep them original

Personally, I'd say keep them original but use NiMH batteries instead of alkalines. If you need a dedicated flashlight for doing flashlight things, even with an LED bulb a Maglite is still going to seriously lack in capability. At least with the halogens you'll maintain that beautiful, nostalgic light quality.

I think Terralux was rocking 1000 lm drop in back in 2008. If you had to walk through a poorly lit bad neighborhood at night, like I did, you can bet those compact flashlights were awfully unappealing.

100% this. I have switched mine over to NiMH batteries and they seem to do well. Tenergy sells a “lite” version that may be worth checking out.

Lumencraft has a neat drop in pushing 4,800 lumens that I’m considering as well as Malkoff Devices. I have an old Mag that’s been in my family since the 80s and I want to keep the legacy going. I just converted an old 80s Surefire 6P over to LED with the Malkoff Devices drop in and it’s awesome!
