LOL Loopgear SK06 mini still too long? Introducing the SK06 Nano

Ever felt then the SK-06 or even the SK-06 mini was a tad too long? Well there's a solution!!

Introducing my latest mod, the SK-06 Nano edition! Powered by a 70mah LIR2032 li-ion coin battery, its now only 45cm in length and lasts maybe 3 minutes on high before needing a recharge!

Main LED, green laser and UV are all fully functional (except the sidelights as well.. they are no longer there, instead, you get glow stickers which do not drain the battery!)

Even USB charging works and even the power bank feature works for some reason

Only downside is the magnet in the tail had to be removed as it was too close to the magnetic ring and interfering with the mode selection.. I couldn't find a tailclip short enough so it'll have to go clipless for now until i can find something

Have a good one everyone~

TIL rechargeable coin batteries exist.

yeah I found out about it when trying to make this work, i know 3v coin batteries exist but 3.6v li-ions exist, so I had to get it and what do you know, it actually (somewhat impractically) works!

I would say it works.

50-70mah the best (18350 is like 1100mah now), probably going to die after 20 or 50 recharge cycles though

probably. If you keep it cool and don't punish it, it may last a while.

I've only seen them in solar powered watches, but I think those are a different chemistry that is more suited for the low drain and recharge of a solar watch.

The ones on motherboards are usually non rechargeable.

Worked in IT for 20+ years and have never seen a rechargeable coin cell battery on a motherboard. Almost always a plain ole dirt cheap as possible 2032.

So unpractical, I love it!

yeah its like your crazy loudener, except in this case, I'm trying to make the flashlight with the most features with the shortest runtime possible, maybe i'll try a lir1632 instead

Run time just long enough to find your phone after dropping it between the car seats.

or losing the light itself also

Oh that was awesome. I was so intrigued, so curious, going through the pics one by one, then I got to the pic of the button cell. LMFAO.

It's all on me that I thought this was cool. It still kinda is too. I think I have issues.

yeah i just love doing things like this, crazy impractical, but works

back then when the MT-G2 came out, I made what I believe was the smallest ever MT-G2 light, a thrunite t10t with 2x 14250 batteries and a zener modded 10mm driver, that was nearly 10 years ago, and it still works :D

Oh man I love my Cuktech 10. Crazy fast little bank.

4

u/antighosting 13h ago

yes! crazy fast power bank that can do 165w and recharge my macbook mid-flight in minutes, one of the best every purchases

I drained it once just to see if it could really charge itself as fast as claimed.

It did it. I sat there watching the percent go up so fast it felt unreal. Love that thing. It’s also really easy to pocket in a hoodie.

Love the Cuktech 10, originally bought it on sale to power a soldering iron because of the 100W output in a compact size but use it frequently for all sorts of things. Sad to see the price has gone up

It’s the cutest baby SK06 I’ve ever seen! Should post it on r/adorableflashlight πŸ€—

u/antighosting 13h ago

or cute things, just wondering how long i can use it and recharge it before the battery gives out

Man, I’d love to lose one of these in my house as soon as I take it out of the box

This will have the same fate as 10mm sockets. They'll gain sentience and teleports to another dimension, never to be seen again.

not that small, probably have a good personality

Think you meant 45mm in length, 45cm is one and a half foot.

Runtime aside, cool mod!

2

u/antighosting 13h ago

well didn't want to waste the broken light so i "fixed" it and there comes the mod

Does this mean the sk06 mini works as power bank?

Nearly made me thinking this was some new production model and I was about to leave a comment bashing Loopgear for clearly having no idea what a grown human hand is like.
