For everyone that's confused about this light, like me, it seems to be a T4 that is utilizing the T8 head and reflector.

Wonder when the big T6 will be released, he said he was done and it’s in production a few months ago

The T6 looking light with 18650 and bigger head

Only in orange. Interesting choice.

I think you mean the best choice.

I think you mean The Best choice.

2

u/qpwoeiruty00 Jul 25 '26

It's not the best choice, it's Spacer's choice!

6

u/itsok2try2bpositive Jul 22 '26

Yeah if I'm not trying to color code or make some sort of theme, orange is always my first choice. Really just so I can find it either amongst the foliage or amongst everything else that's tactical black.

If you're wanting something other than orange, Simon just released tan and black.

Ooh I’ve been thinking of upgrading the emergency T3’s in the car to T4’s but I’ll probably get this instead

Where L21c?

5

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

Perhaps you might be interested to learn that Simon's working on a 56mm 1 degree TIR, which might fit the L21 series. He mentioned it last month, so it's probably going to be a while before it becomes available, but still, sounds interesting.

u/tjcarbon9 Jul 22 '26

Thanks for the update. Personally I dislike TIR optics (I’m one of the few people that dislike the L35 V2). More so looking for a L21c for onboard charging.

6

u/Affectionate-Dream33 Jul 22 '26

I’m the same, never really understood the TIRs. Love a good aluminium reflector

Little bonk first! Then big bonk

Ok took me a bit to realize that was not a poster for a different kind of tool or some kind of parody about flashlights. 😅 "Bigger head, longer thow.. larger head for better long-range performance... Long, Durable, Reliable, Adventure" Mr. Freud would be having a field day with this advertising.

u/the_ebastler Jul 22 '26

Still only 1A from Eneloop :(

2

u/RockTristann Jul 22 '26

I'm sorry, I'm obviously missing something, why not get 14500 cells with 3A+?

6

u/the_ebastler Jul 23 '26

Mainly because I want a decently bright light that can stay in the car during summer. Leaving LiIons in a hot car is really pushing the limits of the cells.

3

u/timflorida Jul 22 '26

That is why it is a dual fuel. Either or. I like to use NiMh batteries sometimes - such as in a light that lives in a car. Or just because.

The T9 pulls 6A w/14500's.

1

u/RockTristann Jul 22 '26

I guess there's no arguing with "just because". Haha, flashlight on!

4

u/timflorida Jul 22 '26

It's my 'always undefeatable, can't argue with THAT !' last resort.

But seriously, options are always good. Some people have all kinds of NiMh batteries that they use for other things around the house so a dual fuel light fits the bill for them. No need to buy new batteries or a new charger. I just like the variety of it all.

1

u/RockTristann Jul 22 '26

Yeah I'm a huge fan of the 14500(it's what most of my lights are) if only because no matter what every drug store in the world has a cell that will make the light turn on no matter what.

Now if only we had another good supplier of 10A 14500's...

2

u/timflorida Jul 23 '26

Vapcell has always had the corner on that market for whatever reason.

*the 14500 market.

1

u/RockTristann Jul 23 '26

Yeah but Vapecell is just a rewrapper of cells and I guess there was a snafu on the production side with the H10's so they aren't available anymore and now we're supposed to be happy with the K10 which is just 8A but I've heard they don't even do that too well.

5

u/FalconARX Jul 22 '26

NGL, a part of me was hoping he would throw out a T8 with an 18350 and USB-C port.

3

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

He hasn't released an e-switch 18350 light yet, has he? It jumped from the T7/T10 up to S21E. At least we're going to get an updated buck driver for the S21E soon.

2

u/FalconARX Jul 22 '26

I don't recall any. All the shorty S tubes are tail switches, and the first jump for an e-switch is to the S21 lineup.

2

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

Looks like there is an e-switch 18650 light, the S9, but it's pretty ancient. Has on-board micro-USB charging, and can't take an 18350 body. I wonder what driver it's utilizing, considering the size. It has the same standard e-switch UI from the looks of it.

Must....resist....

I really dont need another flashlight.....

Good luck brother. [Add to Cart]

I needed an excuse to get a couple reasonably priced K10 to replace the h tens that I just retired after seeing that post the other day. Plus I would like to try the W 5050 SQ5. Plus I can load it with lithium primaries stick it in my wife's glove box so she doesn't have to use her cell phone as an emergency flare when she's pulled over on the side of the road. Three excuses I guess it's going into the shopping cart today. Yeah I need to hold off for a couple weeks

4

u/youy23 Jul 22 '26

I can appreciate the flared base.

3

u/Wormminator Jul 22 '26

So its a T4 with the head of the T6 without having to buy both?

3

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

T8 head, actually.

2

u/Wormminator Jul 22 '26

Interesting.
One more on my list.

2

u/DaveNumber7 Jul 22 '26

I like that T-6 stone wash copperhead.

3

u/RockTristann Jul 22 '26

Get the glossy, trust me.

The stonewash feels "cheap" compared to the glossy.

2

u/DaveNumber7 Jul 22 '26

Thank you, good to know, i like that one too, the brass really pops.

3

u/johan851 Jul 22 '26

Well this is pretty sweet, now where's that 18650 + T8 head I've been waiting for?

5

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

2

u/SpaceCadetMoonMan Jul 22 '26

He said a few months ago it was in production, wonder what happened

1

u/johan851 Jul 22 '26

Yep, this one. Hopefully it's next after the T9?

IMO the thin tube + thick head of the T9 is not as compelling as the slim T4. This 18650 tube + T8 head seems like a better proportional match.

2

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

There's a lot of stuff that's in the queue, so who can say. I'm still waiting on that AA/14500 headlamp. It took him about a year and a half to get the M21K and M26E out since he first mentioned the hosts.

2

u/Designer_Toe_8105 Jul 23 '26

Talked with Simon, he said he can't give a tentative date on when it will be released.

3

u/ejan0448 Jul 24 '26

darn you people, now I have 3 more lights headed to my 🏠

4

u/uhntzuhntz Jul 22 '26

What are we thinking here as far as emitter choice?

10

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

It's all personal preference. SFT-25R or W5050SQ5 if you want round and throwy, and SFT40 if you want higher lumen output (or that sweet, sweet 3000K high CRI).

2

u/ZippyTheRoach probably have legit crabs Jul 22 '26

Gah, that's the same problem I have with buying the T8. Can never really get on board with the SFT-25R or W5050SQ5 and I've already got so many SFT40 3000k lights

2

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

I'm always down for more SFT40 3000K. However, I prefer single cell lights, since I'm not a fan of dealing with matching batteries.

7

u/calvinistgrindcore Jul 22 '26

This is a great host for the 5050SQ5, because its high Vf won't cause the driver to drop out of regulation at lower battery levels, as the driver is seeing 6-8.4V from the series pair of batteries.

6

u/uhntzuhntz Jul 22 '26

Well I don’t have any lights with the 5050 yet so that just means I HAVE to order one, right? Right?

Thanks for the info.

6

u/timflorida Jul 22 '26

I just ordered one w/SFT40 in 5000k. Plus a couple K10's.

2

u/RiskMoney6996 Jul 22 '26

same dimensions with T4? what's the difference, deeper reflector?

3

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

T4 body with a T8 head. I added a screenshot in another comment.

2

u/RiskMoney6996 Jul 22 '26

then the diameter of T9 would be wrong, can't imagine 27mm hosting a 26.6mm reflector

1

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

Eh, perhaps Simon changed the design a touch after it was originally drawn up. Won't know unless ya pick one up for testing.

1

u/MaikeruGo Rusty Fasteners™ Jul 22 '26

Definitely going to have to get this one as a backpack light. Though I'll have to see some beam shots with the different emitters.

1

u/sailorsapporo Aug 03 '26

Any reviews yet?

2

u/oceanic84 Jul 22 '26

Forward or reverse clicky switch? *(momentary on is so important)

3

u/CookieDave Batteries go in, light comes out. Jul 22 '26

Convoy mechanical switch lights all come with reverse clicky. Trying to program them with forward clicky, while doable, is a real pain. I do like that the two-switch lights come forward clicky though, and certain models support a "tactical forward clicky" tail cap, like the S21D and M21H.

2

u/-nom-de-guerre- Jul 23 '26

i program them with another tailcap. or before i switch the switch
