Check-in 1-Week Fast Journal (Day 2)

• Upvotes

Hey fellow fasters!

I am 171 cm male currently weighing 83 kilos. Just wanted to keep a journal and share my experiences while taking accountability.

Last time (2 weeks ago) I did a 72 hour fast and lost 4 kilos, only to regain the same weight within 10 days.

Anyway, today is day 2 of my fast (36 hours) and I am feeling great. It is strange how my mind is so clear and energy levels so high when I'm fasting. And it only gets better with time. Yesterday, I went to the gym and did some light running (3km in 25 mins) and some cardio. I am planning to keep doing some light cardio during my 7-day fast. Hopefully, it will not have any adverse effects.

Although I have confidence that I will be able to keep the fast, what worries me is my behavior after. I have been a stoner for over a decade and although I usually just smoke a small joint at nights, the munchies I get later are irresistible. In a way, fasting is not just a way for be healthier and lose weight, but also stay away from weed.

Anyway, I will try not to get too worried about what comes later and focus on now. Cheers and happy fasting!

Question 20k steps on 7 day fast

I'm 24 hours in to my 7 day fast. I've done multiple 5 day fasts but this is my first 7 day. I average 10k steps a day when I'm not fasting, so I wonder how sustainable 20k a day would be during this fast. What's been your experience with it? Is it better to know it all out at once or do it in parts?

Check-in Lost 22 in 19 days

Edit: I meant 22 pounds which are 10kg

I started a fasting regimen on the 23rd of September, respectively 19 days ago. I was at 103kg and today morning I reached 93. My goal is to reach 75kg so probably still more than 19 days to go. My regimen is 3 days of water fasting and one day of refeeding before I start the next cycle. In the refeeding day I eat light and healthy. Salad, Broth, Avocados, Eggs. I have a very sedentary lifestyle due to my job, however I bought a smartwatch and try to do at least 7k steps a day. I bought keto electrolytes and stevia for overcoming temptations during the 3 day non-eating window.

I am too shy to post pictures, but I feel already much better in my skin, several pieces of cloth fit me again, which increased my warderobe options 😂

Well that's all there is to it, just wanted to post as I finally finally found one fasting routine I can stick to. I used to start strong but midway I always broke. Hope this helps anyone.

You can ask me any question.

Question Dry mouth and weird heartbeats around the 24h mark that goes away afterwards?

Sometimes when I fast I get abnormally dry mouth with bad breath even with proper water intake and also anxiety-type heartbeats, but it goes away eventually and I start feeling relaxed and a bit euphoric for the rest of that 3-4 day fast.

Question Weekly 3 day fast with additional 24-36 hour fast?

Has anyone tried what my title is suggesting? Starting January 1st, I have been following a fasting schedule of 36 hour fast every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My starting weight was 220 lbs, I am a 5’6 female. I currently estimate I am 175 lbs but ever since entering the 170s my body has been in limbo and I could be 178 lbs, 171 lbs, and 175 lbs all in the same month for months now. It has been frustrating because I am still far from my goal weight.

Tried out my first 72 hour fast and it was so much easier than I expected, but I don’t want to give up my fasting schedule. I was thinking of doing a weekly 72 hour fast (Monday-Wednesday) and a 36 hour fast every Friday. I would like to hear the health risks and benefits others have experienced and if I am in way over my head.

My stats (weigh ins are every Thursday at the same time in the morning):

January: 220 > 212 > 208 > 206 > 204 lbs

February: 202 > 200 > 198 > 196

March: 197 > 195 > 194 > 193

April: 192 lbs > 191 > 190 > 189 > 188

May: 187 > 186 > 184 > 183

June: 182 > 182 > 182 > 180

July: 179 > 178 > 175.9 > 176 > 177

August: 175 > 172 > 173 > 172

September: 178 > 171 lbs (after two day fast) > 173.2 > 171.8

October: 178 > 170.2 (after two day fast)

Question 83 hours in and still hungry??

So this is my first fast in a few months, but 83 hours into this one and my tummy is STILL grumbling at me. Usually after the first 24-48 Im immune to the hunger.

Should I just break the fast because it seems like my body wants something (but then doesn't it always want something?) Or is this somewhat normal (just not for me)?

I feel fine otherwise. But the food cravings and hunger is super duper weird at this point.

Thoughts?

Check-in Round 4 of rolling fasts done!

I need to keep my refeed windows long otherwise its impossible for me to get enough calories in.

Refeed plan for today is to keep it keto mainly carnivore.

Other than hunger pangs at night my fasting days are easy (minus all the boredom from the free time that not eating frees up!!) Slow and steady wins the race!

Discussion Fasting at 41

Any women fasting in early 40’s? I’m thinking of doing a 72 hour water fast every week to drop some weight. I’ve done this before but for some reason dreading it this time. Just curious what other women my age do and what was the weight loss results and how did your skin look? I’m reading about longer fasts and I’d be tempted to go more extreme for autophagy but I think I would struggle as I’m the one who prepares all the family meals and food for my kids. Interested in your experiences. Thank you!

Question Can't get legs cramps to stop?

Today is the morning of day 5 of a water fast. All day yesterday my legs were aching, so after some googling I realized that although I was taking electrolytes, I wasn't taking enough of them. Yesterday evening I made sure I took the remaining recommended daily amounts. After a couple hours I didn't feel like I was getting better so I ate a couple hard boiled eggs to prepare to break my fast this morning. Last night was awful. I got up at 2am and chugged 2 tsp of Magnesium Calm. That took the edge off enough to sleep a little bit. But when I woke up this morning the cramps are back. My thigh muscle seizes with every step. I've taken 2 more tsp of Magnesium Calm and almost finished 1 liter of my homemade electrolyte. I'm worried about overdoing the electrolytes, but literally cannot function.

I can't tell you exactly how much I got yesterday, but I know it was over 1000 mg of potassium. Maybe I'm a little low on salt, but everyone says potassium and magnesium are the culprits for leg cramping. Help!

Discussion Props to you all for improving yourselves!

I wanted to congratulate all of you who are fasting to better yourselves! This isn't always easy and many people wouldn't dare take this seemingly extreme route to improve themselves; so, I commend those that are fasting for self-betterment.

How has this journey positively affected you?

Question Getting Sick After Short Fasts?

Hi! This is my first post on r/fasting, but I was really hoping you guys could give me some advice. I've previously fasted a few times somewhere between 24-48 hours. Usually, this would end with me vomiting and/or struggling to walk. If anyone has any ideas as to why this may be, I'd really appreciate it! I'd love to continue fasting without such extreme side effects. Thanks :)

Question Fasting and Oura ring

Questions for people that fast and use and oura ring. Does your shows major signs of strain at any point of your fast or after? I woke up today expecting to start a week fast but my Oura ring showed major signs of strain and I’ve had slightly swollen feet for three days now. I’ve been eating since Wednesday. I don’t know if I should start a fast today. I feel fine just my ring telling me something is up.

Question Anyone else find that these levels are too low for them?

Post image
35 Upvotes

I was incredibly low energy by the end of day 3 for my water fast- I could feel the blood rush down from my head when I got up slowly. i also felt like I could've fainted at least 3x doing that. I took an LMNT on top of this recommended dosage and all of my energy came back, lightheadedness disappeared along

I'm currently at 214 lbs and am a 5'11 woman. I must mention that I've already experienced lightheadedness as a result of POTS prior to water fasting- to which the remedy is more sodium and water intake (for POTS).

I was reading some of the earlier forums and it seems that the numbers were initially too high for some people, but yeah, I found that they're too low for me. I just don't want to go too high.

Do yall take your psych meds while fasting? I tried to not take them for a 3 day fast…. No bueno. I work in a high stress job, I was hangry, and I didn’t take my meds… eeeeverything made me cry. But I’m also supposed to take them with food… soo what do I do?
