We're down 3-4 percent from $2700. Need 85 percent more to ATH.
Some perspective, but not sure if that's good news or bad news.

The drop in the eth ETFs is the worrying point here, specially 200M out when btc ETFs are up + all the people shorting

Solana holding up so much better against eth is even worse. I just hope Ray stays above 0.03 at this point or we will be back at July prices in no timeβ¦

Surely the US market will reverse the Asia hour price action in the positive direction too ... right? Right?

AVSA has a nice example of what owning your content can look like. He says an agent recovered years of posts from Flickr, Posterous, Mirror, Medium and the Internet Archive into Markdown files he owns. His X post.
The useful part to me is being able to leave without starting over. Once you have your work in ordinary files, you can publish somewhere else, keep an offline copy, or use a different tool. You donβt need the original platformβs permission anymore.
From a public-goods funding angle, Iβd like to see export and recovery tested more often. Can someone else rebuild the archive? Do the links, dates and authorship survive? What still depends on one company staying online? A successful export is a start with reliable provenance and availability as separate problems.
Has anyone here moved a substantial personal archive off a platform? What was hardest to preserve?

Really starting to look bearish unfortunately. It seems inevitable when we are sitting at a price for so long a break down in inevitable.

We were flat for two really long times previously before we bumped up both times to here.

Personally as someone who watches the ratio a lot. It looks like a retest of .03 is coming

What do we think to this idea? (reducing issuance)...

u/somedaysitsdark 6d ago
As much as I like participating in sync committees, I do agree, they could probably be obsoleted.

yes, because there's a valid argument for this case. but i don't think issuance should change, instead we should just burn that portion

u/haurog 6d ago
I think it depends what you mean with burning. If you think of doing it similar to how EIP-8363 has proposed it, then it probably isn't the best idea. Burning a portion of the rewards at the end of the epoch hurts not perfectly oiled validators the most. Or in other words it hurts validators the most who aren't running in data centers, i.e. home stakers. If you burn a reward a validator hasn't received, because they were offline or too late in submitting, the validator will not be able to make it back by being online for the same time afterwards, because rewards are getting burned. The only way I see to get around this is to add logic to only burn it if the validator has actually received a reward. Then, I honestly think it is best to just remove the whole logic about sync committees once they aren't needed anymore.
The whole argument above about the problem of burning rewards came from the analysis by Knoshua on EIP-8363 (https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/eip-8363-tapered-issuance-burn/29263/240). In my understanding their analysis kills many mechanism which aim to burn rewards instead of actually reducing the issuance directly. There might be a more elegant solution which include burning though without hurting home stakers.

You're right, I was too quick to comment

No problem, Knoshuas comment came 2-3 weeks after the EIP discussion started. Took myself some time to understand where the problem actually lies with the burning approach. Knoshuas comment for me was the strongest argument against EIP8363 in the current iteration. As far as I see, the burning approach needs to be changed such that home stakers do not bear an outsized portion of the issuance reduction.

Ah the sweet bliss of below 2700 during US hours. I was almost worried.

Where did that guy go that said a few weeks ago BTC would dump every time it touched 86k and thus prevent ETH from breaking out above 2700? I want to have a chat with him.

Glamsterdam went live on Sepolia today with the gas limit raised from about 60 million to 200 million. That is more than triple the capacity per block. The test was nearly diluted because validators on the older Prysm release would have kept producing 60 million blocks, so a fix went out last night. Nothing is scheduled for mainnet yet. Do you think a jump that big is safe, or should they go in smaller steps?
