Would the Chinese government use Solana?
Would the American government use BNB or similar?
Would they both (and all other governments) use Ethereum?
If you're playing the long game, these are extremely relevant questions.

u/HBAR_10_DOLLARS 21d ago
Would they both (and all other governments) use Ethereum?
No, because their transactions can and will be frontrun and re-ordered by anonymous MEV pools.
7
u/Tricky_Troll Public Goods are Good π± 21d ago
Not all transaction types can be frontrun. I doubt the US or Chinese governments would be using Uniswap much.

My book is about 90% written. I'm hoping to have it ready for publication by the end of the year. In addition to editing on the last chapter I'm trying to get various teams from Depin/DeAI to write postwords for the various technical chapters for something like co-marketing purposes.
I haven't been writing as much on my blog or reddit because my time has been eaten up by that. If it goes well I might also write a book on governance.
3
u/CatsnotpillsCoaching 21d ago
Not sure if it fits the bill but I know the founder of Auki (https://www.auki.com/) quite well, they're doing a Depin for AI navigation. He's a very outspoken guy, so I am sure he'll be happy to contribute if you want. They've been at it for ages, well before the AI hype wave.

Cool team but there isn't really a close topic for what they do in my book. Thank you for the offer though.

The current ETH price is garbage. BNB is trading 14% above its 2021 ATH. ETH needs to be at $5.5k to match that. BTC is 25% above its 2021 ATH. ETH needs to trade at $6k to match that.
ETH needs to basically do a 2x right now just to catch up to BNB. It's miles behind and I hope the cursed third cycle and scam manipulation BS by dirtbags is behind us. Otherwise we are in the wrong asset.

u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 21d ago
ray going down is bullish for btc and eth.
once btc has new ath, then ray can go up. .
wishing for ray to go up now is wishing for crypto to make new local lows
7
u/Numerous_Ruin_4947 21d ago
That is what we thought during Ethereumβs cursed third cycle - yet ETH just kept bleeding against BTC. Bitcoin still trades for more than 31 ETH, compared with roughly 8β20 ETH during previous cycles. ETH has the smaller market cap and appears severely undervalued relative to BTC, so I see no fundamental reason Bitcoin should continue to run harder from here.
Ethereumβs marketing and mindshare problem still needs to be addressed. Virtually everyone has heard of Bitcoin, but people cannot buy ETH if they have never even heard of Ethereum. βEthereumβ needs to become as familiar a name as Bitcoin - or even the dollar. That is how you achieve mass adoption.
ETH also needs to appreciate faster than BTC from here. Otherwise, we are holding the wrong asset: a slower, more volatile horse. Nobody wants that combination.
ETHβs price action since the ETF launches has looked extraordinarily manipulated. Sommi posted an excellent video yesterday identifying what he considers the manipulation zone. If ETH eventually rebounds to a much stronger ratio against BTC, the abnormality of this period should become even more obvious on the long-term chart.
ETHβs price action over the past few years has looked deeply unnatural. In hindsight, it was a traderβs dream - if you had somehow recognized in advance what was about to happen.
9
u/tokyo_guy375 21d ago
It would be a sign of crypto maturing imo.
1
u/Numerous_Ruin_4947 21d ago
Are you saying ETH bleeding against BTC is a sign of it maturing? Perhaps I am misunderstanding. It's extremely undervalued, and if it continues to bleed its the opposite sign of maturation.

Looks like Lido is consolidating the curated validator set into 0x02 credentials finally. We can expect a considerable decrease in amounts of validators in mainnet ahead of Glamsterdam. Very good for Network health!

I don't follow. Decreased amount of validators is good for Ethereum blockchain. Less network gossip, better performance.

The SEC's tokenised stock exemption from last week is getting credited for a chunk of this rally, but worth remembering it's a temporary 5-year order, not actual law, it came out two days after the Clarity Act died in the Senate, so the SEC's basically doing on its own what Congress couldn't agree on. Feels like everyone's watching the ETH price move without really digging into what got approved.
Stock tokens have to give holders the same voting and dividend rights as real shares, and issuers get a 30-day window to opt out entirely, so this isn't some free-for-all tokenisation land grab. Given how much of the RWA stuff already builds on Ethereum, this seems like a bigger long-term deal for the ecosystem than for the price chart, but I could see it going either way. Anyone think this actually holds up past the 5 years, or is it getting walked back the second the political winds shift?
17
u/mini_miner1 21d ago
5 years is an eternity in crypto. If a ton of capital gets onboarded, there'll be too much interest to allow things to revert.

the NAS is also ripping, and OIL dropping. I don't see any news that would indicate that makes sense. The market in general has seemed more and more divorced from reality recently.
5
u/oxyeth 21d ago
China has extremely large oil reserves and stopped buying. Presumably to keep their trading partners from going bankrupt. They also seem to have stopped honouring the petrodollar. I think this is why the oil price hasnβt exploded. The world order is changing..
1
u/majorpickle01 The soil of $5000+ must be watered with the blood of ETH<$4000 20d ago
The China stuff is true but I was under the impression they recently started buying again.
But yeah china has an insane amount of oil reserves. Makes sense if they ever plan to take Taiwan
2
u/Tricky_Troll Public Goods are Good π± 21d ago
Yep, that's my understanding of the oil situation. China has enormous reserves, almost certainlky underground which the OSINT community didn't know about. They dropped their imports by like 50% overnight shortly into the crisis.
4
u/offthewall1066 21d ago
I think the market is actually encouraged by the Fed being willing to act on price stability. Yes, a raise is βbadβ but a large amount of uncertainty was reduced with the action and tail risks that the fed was bought by the president. Market hates uncertainty.
5
u/majorpickle01 The soil of $5000+ must be watered with the blood of ETH<$4000 21d ago
Yeah I do think raising rates was the correct decision for signalling responsibility, beared out by the usual "fed dip" and then a complete recovery the day after.
I just don't understand how we are in a situation where Oil is basically not flowing, US oil reserves including SPR are reaching critical levels, the situation in the middle east is escalating, bond rates are rocketing, inflation is elevated, and we are still in a relatively bouyant stock market.
I mean the houthi's blew up several pumping stations and damaged the pipeline that pumps oil to the bab al mandab to get around the hormuz blockade and the market goes up. Oil is under $100 a barrel I believe both Brent and Texas.
It just feels to me like there has to be some correction to market fundamentals. But many a fool has believed that and missed the rally. I'm usually a "fuck it money in we ball think in 30 years guy", but even I've stopped at this point.
3
u/offthewall1066 21d ago
Honestly no idea either. I think the market must just be pricing in some sort of conflict resolution that does not feel possible right now. For prices to make sense this shock needs to be time-bound and over in the next 3(?) 6(?) months? Or perhaps Venezuela and other sources are enough to keep the economy above catastrophe levels.
3
u/majorpickle01 The soil of $5000+ must be watered with the blood of ETH<$4000 21d ago
Yeah I think some sort of resolution maybe. But ultimate even if it was resolved now, it'll take a long time to rebuild a lot of the destroyed infra, the insurance will still be sky high, and the SPR needs to be refilled...
But my most successful motto as a trader is "I know shit about fuck". I stick to what I know and we'll see haha
5
u/Elendron 21d ago
Speculation of the Middle East meeting outcome at UNGA tomorrow might be what's causing OIL to sell off some.
Completely agree on your last sentence man. Can't help but feel like some major global crisis is looming. Gotta make hay while the sun shines though...

A world in which the UN achieves anything, especially obstensibly against the United States wishes, is a world I hope to one day see lmao.
I work for a trading company, been an incredible year so far. But I'm largely sat in cash on the investment side rn re stocks. Overheated AI market, a million red blaring klaxons, and no one seems to care.
If I'm wrong, meh, I miss a year. If I'm right I'm going to be the smuggest man on the planet.
3
u/Elendron 21d ago
Haha yeah. I actually work on UN stuff sometimes. US is calling a vote on almost everything, so that they can vote against whatever it is, as a big F U to multilateralism. Thankfully most UN countries are still...normal... so positive things get voted through, though it's all just commitments/ goals on paper which in reality always under achieve.
Awesome on your job! Do you have ETH/ crypto positions rn? Just stocks you're staying clear of?
1
u/majorpickle01 The soil of $5000+ must be watered with the blood of ETH<$4000 21d ago
Yeah I've been a committed ETH bagholder for a very long time haha. As for stocks not particularly, most of my stock investments are just ETF exposure atm. My last two plays really were Nvidia and Micro, post FTX crash and pre Bitcoin ETF respectively.
I do most of my trading trading as I say usually 2m timeframes spreadbetting on index markets, usually US30 NAS, sometimes GER, less frequently gold. Feels a lot safer to have nothing left on the table at the end of the day.
Haha re the US. So petty. The UN is a good idea in theory but the reality of it is the US just does whatever the fuck it wants
1
u/Elendron 21d ago
Nice, thanks for sharing. I've never invested in stocks, but have been considering just shoving a huge pile of cash in an index fund recently.
2
u/majorpickle01 The soil of $5000+ must be watered with the blood of ETH<$4000 21d ago
historically, the average best performance comes from lumping it all in instead of trying to time the market, then averaging in as you can. doesn't realy matter if the S&P shits the bed 20-30% then 10 years later it's 500% up or whatever.
By the same token, that's only true because it has been. you could easily have bought at the tech peak or been a JPN investor at the peak and it's taken an insane time to ROI that.
Ultimatley it's a risk and timeline consideration.
8
u/CoCleric 21d ago
Hypothetically, how do you go long on ETH? Iv never done it before so im not exactly sure how to do it. My basic understanding would be to borrow against ETH on AAVE and just buy more ETH with the USDC generated? I want to test out something small like borrow against 1 ETH and donβt get liquidated unless it falls under $1k.
1
u/vvpan 21d ago
I don't know much about it except I have some small low leverage positions in lighter. But I wanted to point out that all strategies fall into two categories - ones that produce a taxable event and ones that don't depending on whether you want to use existing ETH or cash. So some answers below might be technically incorrect because it sounds like you already have ETH.
3
u/LogrisTheBard 21d ago
Lots of ways. Perps allow simpler steps of deposit collateral, choose leverage amount. Neat Defi primitives such as Alchemix create a different market price on leverage without the liquidation risks.
1
u/majorpickle01 The soil of $5000+ must be watered with the blood of ETH<$4000 21d ago
You don't have to go that complex. You could just use a trading platform and use your ETH to get margin to take a leveraged ETH position. I used to use GMX io a lot. They allow up to 50x IRRC, but such a leverage multiple is borderline suicide in crypto IMO. A most I dabble with 2 or 3x
3
u/jenya_ 21d ago
used to use GMX io a lot
GMX is expensive for leverage. They have a complicated pool system where funding rates may raise almost exponentialy for a short time. Ligther is cheaper (funding rates).
Here what the AI says:
Your observation is accurate: GMX leverage can become highly expensive due to its unique pool-based architecture, which relies on multi-layered fees that scale dramatically during periods of high market imbalance.
2
u/majorpickle01 The soil of $5000+ must be watered with the blood of ETH<$4000 21d ago
Yes it definitely is expensive, but depending where you live (I'm UK), you can't trade leveraged crypto synthetics without being a professional investor, and binance is banned. So decentralized platforms are a bit better. I've only ever dabbled with leverage on crypto, I'm more a forex and index leverage guy tbh.
My point about not being complex is more the user interface for GMX is very easy to use, compared to say nested lending of tokens through a decentrazlied lending protocol
edit: I'm not quite sure it's pool based leveraged trading structure is unique though, there's plenty out there that do something similar.
2
u/jenya_ 21d ago
I guess Lighter is less decentralized. GMX uses automated market-maker, while Lighter connects to the external market-makers via high frequency trading.
In Ligther when you open a position, the market-makers automatically open the other side of the position, with no cost to retail (so far), so its always balanced.
3
u/majorpickle01 The soil of $5000+ must be watered with the blood of ETH<$4000 21d ago
Fair, I have heard a lot of good things about lighter!
I just haven't really done any leveraged crypto trading since ETH was over 4k
4
u/jenya_ 21d ago edited 21d ago
to borrow against ETH on AAVE and just buy more ETH with the USDC
This is long term option, in which the 1% gain per year on ETH mostly compensates the 3.6% loss per year on the borrowed USDC. The only problem is that AAVE may go down, together with your deposit.
The perp leverated long on Lighter is a short-term option, because it will cost you up to 12% per year in funding rates, which are taken continually from your margin.
12
u/Reasonable_Ad5611 21d ago
go to lighter and buy a perp leveraged long. but technically, just holding ETH means you are long ETH

It's absolutely not about that. I've been using Nitter since before Elon took over. For a brief period I used Yotter in 2018/19 before Nitter. Acessing these platforms via a proxy like Invidious for YouTube is actually a great way of preventing echo-chambers because if you're accessing it anonymously, it can't target you with propaganda sent your way by whoever owns the platform, left or right, auth or lib. There are almost no algorithms dictating what info I get. Even most of my Reddit browsing is done on Redlib, though most subs on Reddit are hugely biased, so I'm not sure it makes much of a difference here at least. YouTube and X though are good to get without the algorithms.
Also, I hope you don't think that X isn't a censored echo chamber, because censorship on X actually went up after Elon took over.

I literally use Invidious, FreeTube, Redlib, Teddit and once upon a time Yotter, all in addition to Nitter (back in the Jack Dorsey days) and now XCancel. Some EEZ (Ethereum Economic Zone) news. Last Friday they managed to get their first COW swap transaction through that got initiated on L2, but used liquidity on an L1. As far as I see this test ran on their own L2 devnet involving their L1 Chiado testnet. Until now, the tests I have played around with have been very custom made for this specific application. To me, this COW swap transaction sounds like there is progress being done integrating EEZ in already existing applications. But there isn't too much information about it, so I might overinterpret it.
They also shared on the EEZ channel that their plan is to have a public testnet launch at Devcon in Mumbai in November. That is in 6-7 weeks. It is called a testnet, but it will run on Ethereum. That sounds pretty exciting. When they first mentioned their rollout a few months ago, they mentioned that it will be done step by step. First there will only be a limited set of calls be possible between L1<->L2, so do not expect a full fledged EEZ implementation by November, but progress is definitely being made. I guess onboarding all the apps and L2s will also take time. Will be interesting to see how different applications use it. I would guess the first L2 who will be using EEZ to a large degree will be gnosischain, as this was their biggest point of migrating to an Ethereum L2.

Has anyone used smart accounts in production? I'm testing it out because I want ai agents to sign transactions on behalf of an EOA but the gas prices are extraordinarily high in testing. It costs 10000000x more than sending the same transaction through an EOA. It's really frustrating that when you find a new technology the cost is too high to use practically.
Is this just Sepolia? And I shouldn't be worried on mainnet? I am using eth-infinitism/account-abstraction. as my test EntryPoint. Is it just a poorly optimised entrypoint? I'm gunna need to deploy to mainnet to see if running ai agents is even viable as it'll just kill profits by using gas.
Does anyone run smart accounts (ERC4337) and have the same issue?
8
u/edmundedgar reality.eth 21d ago
It costs 10000000x more than sending the same transaction through an EOA.
That definitely doesn't sound right.
Some kind of wei vs gwei or gwei vs ETH mix-up? If you don't mind pointing us at a tx you already sent someone can probably tell you whether you're overpaying somehow. (If you don't want to do that for privacy reasons then fair enough.)
4
u/Odd_Crow4795 21d ago
6
u/edmundedgar reality.eth 21d ago
That doesn't look particularly expensive? You're paying 1 gwei per gas which is reasonable, gas used in that last tx is 37,696 which is less than twice as much as the cheapest possible tx and the highest one there is 220,236 which is about 10x that.
3
u/Odd_Crow4795 21d ago
Iβm investigating whether the gas can be optimised in my erc4337 implementation. I tried optimising the entry point and it came out to around 1900 wei in savings which isnβt a lot in comparison
5
u/Odd_Crow4795 22d ago
I mean cmon, I can't even afford to test in testnet because every drip is token gated and google's drip has just been address restricted to 1 per day, minor inconvenience might I add, and only gives out 0.05 per drip. With gas at 0.0005 I'm hitting the limit in 100 transactions and that's just 1 bot
5
u/edmundedgar reality.eth 21d ago
If you're firing off loads of transactions while you build stuff you might be better to try it on a local node instead of a public testnet. Ask your agent to set up Anvil for you.
