I made some visuals to go along with my remix collab using a combination of Live Mosher (blur slowest), Photism, and abusing DaVinci Resolve's green screen tools
Here is the relevant code for anyone using FFglitch:
// dd_blurSlowest.js
// apply 20-frame average to the slowest moving mv's
var SOME_PERCENTAGE = 0.10; // only the slowest % of mv's in each frame get glitched
// global variable holding forward motion vectors from previous frames
let prev_fwd_mvs = [ ];
let total_sum;
// change this value to use a smaller or greater number of frmes to average
var tail_length = 20;
export function setup(args)
{
args.features = [ "mv" ];
// Pass "-sp <value>" in the command line, where <value> is an
// integer from 0 to 100.
if ( "params" in args )
SOME_PERCENTAGE = (100 - args.params) / 100;
}
export function glitch_frame(frame)
{
// bail out if we have no forward motion vectors
const fwd_mvs = frame.mv?.forward;
if ( !fwd_mvs )
return;
// set motion vector overflow behaviour in ffedit to "truncate"
frame.mv.overflow = "truncate";
const largest = fwd_mvs.largest_sq();
const threshold = Math.floor(SOME_PERCENTAGE * largest[2]);
const mask = fwd_mvs.compare_lt(threshold);
// update variable holding forward motion vectors from previous
// frames. note that we perform a deep copy of the clean motion
// vector values before modifying them.
const deep_copy = fwd_mvs.dup();
// push to the end of array
prev_fwd_mvs.push(deep_copy);
// initialize total_sum to a [0,0] MV2DArray.
if ( !total_sum )
total_sum = new MV2DArray(fwd_mvs.width, fwd_mvs.height);
// update total_sum by removing the motion vector values from the
// oldest frame and adding the values from the current frame.
if ( prev_fwd_mvs.length > tail_length )
{
total_sum.sub(prev_fwd_mvs[0]);
prev_fwd_mvs = prev_fwd_mvs.slice(1);
}
total_sum.add(deep_copy);
// set new values for current frame to (total_sum / tail_length)
if ( prev_fwd_mvs.length == tail_length )
{
fwd_mvs.assign(total_sum, mask);
fwd_mvs.div(MV(tail_length, tail_length), mask);
}
}

Can we get a ban on all apps for sale? This isn't a forum to advertise AI slop apps and it's getting really annoying.
If you have a piece of software to share, great, share it. If you have one to sell, go market it elsewhere.

I've been building Bitmosh to experiment with datamoshing on my phone. This is a short result from it: the colours and shapes of one clip carrying into the next.
You can import clips or shoot with the camera, play with flow, repeat sections, and control how new colours come through. There's also an alignment guide when shooting to match shapes between takes.
I'm looking for people who enjoy this kind of thing to try it and tell me what feels good, what's confusing, and what controls are missing. It's currently free to test on Android 10+, with no ads or in-app sign-in. Processing stays on the phone.
To try it:
Use the same Google account for both. The group is how Google Play grants access to the closed test. Staying opted in for at least 14 days would also help me complete the testing stage.
Feedback here or in the group is welcome. I'd love to see what you make with it.

I know this isn't really datamosh, but I figured you'd be into it anyway.
you drop a photo in, push sliders, stack effects in whatever order you want. it can read the image as an audio track and run DSP on it, chew raw bytes, sort pixels, or shove the whole stack through a broken JPEG or PNG decoder. all real data manipulation, nothing painted on top.
it's free right now, pay what you want if you feel like it.

windows only for now.

I've been obsessed with datamoshing for a while, but never seen it used in a short narrative film before. Let me know what you think!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi guys, Im building a crazy camera app and I have a sort of dev blog/experiment dump going on over here on instagram.
These effects were all processed live in the camera software. Its already insane what it can do.
If you are interested in keeping up with the development I would love to have you, it helps me understand if this project actually has legs or not.
Cheers!

The data moshing comes in at around the 40 second mark. Visuals were achieved through a combination of OBS, DaVinci Resolve, Visual Lab Pro, Photism, and Signal Culture's Interstream + Input Amplifier + Syphon Recorder
I think Interstream has a lot of potential for moshing/combining all kinds of different music visualizers when combined with their Input Amplifier. Once you get the hang of it, it's really fun to use. They have a ton of other software too, which I might check out in the future. I definitely want to explore this concept further and post more videos like this.
I actually had to do a little hack/workaround with Interstream in order to get my custom spinning logo to continue to animate while moshing in-between my Ableton Live OBS capture and Photism by programming on auto-clicker for 30 clicks per second over the "Fluid Mosh" button connected to the OBS capture input being sent by Input Amplifier, with Full Blend and Bloom enabled for both inputs. The auto-clicker might have been too fast though, because the software started to glitch out near the end trying to keep up with all of the clicks.
Please let me know if you have a better way to achieve the same or similar effect. I'm still very new to data moshing so I'm sure there's still a ton of software/techniques/best practices I have yet to learn about.

I've been experimenting with datamoshing and wanted to push it as far away from the usual glitch aesthetic as possible.
The sound is also completely original — I made it specifically around the visual distortion.
