Anxious Corgi Got his Mouth On a Stranger Today

Heartbroken as I am writing this. I know Corgis, coming from a working dog/herding dog line, can be a little ... alert? anxious?

My corg has always been very alert in the sense that, if he sees or hears something he perceives as a threat, he will absolutely let you know vocally. Usually , at most, he will growl and bark while doing his little hops. We have worked with a trainer for the last 3 years on this and he's shown improvement.

Today while we were waiting on the street for the bus, one he's taken many times, he saw something he didn't like and just bit somebody walking by. I already had his leash shortened because I knew he can get sensitive to the noises but the person walked right past us with their long jacket. My friend was with us and confirmed he did wrap his his open mouth on the jacket/leg. Luckily for us, he didn't mark up the person through their jeans and the person didn't make a huge deal out of it past the shock. I don't know how much pressure was actually applied but I can't assume it was anything but a bite. I apologized profusely (my friend helped too) to the individual. He's never bitten anyone before.

My corgi had just spent all day with me at work in my office where he is beloved and , yes he will let out a bark when he hears a noise, but also will walk to my door wagging his nub for pets.

I'm just at a lost of words and feeling like a failure as a corgi parent. I can't bring him to work anymore, I don't trust him. And that makes me very sad too. My friend suggested I keep bringing him in but with a muzzle for when we have to take public transit but I just feel like I can't risk it. I'm even scared of taking him to the dog park now because what I thought was his "corgi sass and attitude" when he tells dogs off...makes me very nervous.

Please does anyone have any advice? I reached out to his trainer too and am awaiting his response.

Help! My corgi suddenly started barking in his crate for hours at night and idk how to fix it!

I have a 4.5 year old corgi named Ollie who recently has been horrible in his crate. We have not changed anything about his crate - location is the same, same night time routine, etc. There have been no changes to his routine or our routine during the day either.

He has been barking an hour or more when we put him in his crate at night, and consistently barking that long in the morning and sometimes throughout the night as well. We make sure he has a potty break before bed and he has not been barking more during the day; ONLY in his crate.

This is very unusual considering the fact he’s slept in his crate every night of his life, and the only time he’s ever barked at night was when he had to use the restroom, and even that was rare. We have not been letting him out at night, and we wait until he settles in the morning to let him out, because we do not want to reinforce this behavior. However, he does not seem to be stopping and it’s starting to interfere with our sleep.

What do we do?! The other day we walked him 3.5 miles and made sure he had plenty of mental stimulation and while the barking was slightly better, it still lasted ~30 mins before he settled down.

My husband and I are really at a loss for what could be causing it, he’s acting completely normal during the day and there have been no changes to his routine, crate, exercise, stimulation, or anything else. Please help!

He’s also been to the vet and there’s nothing wrong with him, all his vitals were fine and he’s not showing signs of arthritis or any other joint issues. He’s not having GI issues either so we are truly at a loss.

Dew claw removal surgery?

Post image

Ferguson has broken his dew claw three times in less than three years, so my vet is recommending permanent removal surgery. Anyone else been through this?? What was your experience?
(Not seeking medical advice btw, just your experiences!)

It's Honey, she's the one who laid in my dirt pile. And who made most of the debris!

Clover the Corgi isn’t phased by our Halloween decor.

Cosmo on the other hand likes to bark out the window when one of the decorations is moving in the wind 🤣😭

Just wanted to share these shots of our girls, Pixie (Red Tri-Colour at six months of age) and Rosie (Blue Merle at eighteen months old) at a recent show we attended. So happy with how they’re both coming along! Pixie won 4/4 Minor in Group and Rosie won 2/4 Junior in Group!
