Discussion Someone using Chrome desktop screening

Someone wanted to work in my pc with the desktop chrome but I barely know him and he’s telling me to turn on the camera, he uses different names “Alvin, Joshua, etc for everything, he uses emails with different names and is weird but I don’t know, should I stop working with him or should I trust

Do you know this someone and what his/her intentions are. What do they want to do?

I don’t know him, he told me he would use my Pc to work in AI and he did the set up and everything but he is telling me to open my camera to join interviews acting like another person, I meet him here in Reddit

Is there some reason why you would want to let him? Like what's the incentive?

If I asked you to give me all your money, you'd say no. what made you not say no to this person?

I’m in need of money right now and I don’t have a job cuz I lost it and he offer me a share if he worked in my pc

That genuinely sounds like the aketchiest thing I've ever heard.

Can he not use his own computers the one he's using to remote into yours? He's either scamming you or scamming someone else and hiding his identity dropping you in any shit that might come from it.

He's going to commit crimes using your pc and you will be on the hook.

Don't give people you don't know, whose identity you can't verify, access to your computer.

I told him to show his face and he said he didn’t like it and a lot of things

It's a scam! You could get into trouble. Block him and remove anything that he's added to your computer.

You are being or will be scammed. Remove everything they installed, and run a virus scan.

Okay I will, I was looking at the screen while he use it but I would run a virus scan

Because you don't know exactly what he installed on your computer.

Stop working with him. This matches a known scheme: someone works from your PC through Chrome Remote Desktop so platforms see your verified identity and your home IP. They coach you through the ID check too, which would explain the camera. Whatever he does, it’s under your name. uninstall Chrome Remote Desktop (restarting isn’t enough). A shared session gives him your files and email, so change the passwords for anything you’re logged into on that PC. Anything he already copied, he keeps.

Okay thanks, I’ll change the passwords

Post this in r/scams

You are most likely being scammed. Your desperation for money since losing your job has people taking advantage of you.
