Mourning/Loss My cat, Sooty died today
So distinguishable from other black cats.
I’m so sad and I miss him already and I know I will miss him even more in the future.
I remember when it was a dark night I sometimes pull the curtain back to see some beady eyes poking out from the darkness. I look closer and I see that cute little face of his. He always waited outside patiently for me and his face lit up every time he saw me.
When I walk home often from college he’s sometimes hanging about the street and when he sees me he trots over to me for strokes and cuddles.
When he’s not he is waiting for me in the house for me to get home.
He loved sleeping underneath my bed with all the spare pillows and blankets. All tucked up and snug. Looking so cute.
He was always so polite, listening to key words, not as good as most dogs but I can’t blame them they’re cats. He never jumped on food services like tables. He never jumped on beds unless you signaled him to. He waited patiently for food and he really showed how excited he was to see me, especially when i had food. He wouldn’t ever scratch or bite. But sometimes he used to make biscuits so he couldn’t help sometimes pressing his claws in to my trousers when he was happy and purring.
His brother tigger is all alone now. I gave him some tuna as a sort of apology for his loss. I don’t think he knows yet. Tuna was always sooty’s favourite.

What a fantastic cat Sooty was. I can tell from your words that the grief is deep but please remember all those incredible times that the two of you shared. They don't go away, they stay forever in your heart. Honor those as you honor the grief. Luckily you still have his brother there and the two you can console one another. When the time is right you may consider getting another one to help heal your heart and give Tigger a companion.
We all mourn his loss together. 💔

I am so sorry for your loss. However sooty lives on through you & all they have touched.
I know it’s not the way we want it to be. However you gave them a wonderful life full of love & happiness.
They are still making bread, you’ll feel them when needed.
Stay strong & be happy that’s what they would want.

I'm sorry for your loss. Being a pet parent is one of the most rewarding things in life. And at times the most heartbreaking. Bless you and Sooty❤️

Aww! I’m so sorry for your loss. And for Tigger’s loss too.
Sooty looked like a sweet baby and I’m sure you gave him an amazing life 😢, it’s so hard when we have to let them go.
Love up on Tigger and you two take it easy for a while. Spend extra time together and extra tuna always helps.

I’m sorry for your loss friend. It sucks so much. One of our cats passed away early at 9 or 10 years old last Wednesday night. It truly feels like losing close family member.
I also have another cat that I feel super bad for. Their relationship was complicated, they were “freindemies”. But every now n then your could tell they loved each other. Sometimes we would catch them napping next to one another, or looking out the window next to each other. They LOVED to have fight club at night. If either cat entered the others room then that was an act of war. The hallway was the ambush zone, and the living room was the general battleground. During the day tho was mostly peace time unless some unforgivable act was committed.
Our apartment vibe has been so off, and it’s been so quiet, specially at night.
I feel so bad for my other cat. He has no one to wrestle with at night, or keep him company when we are gone or at work. I’ve caught him several times in the last few days looking for our other cat :/.

My condolences, I’m sorry for your loss. I still tear up thinking about my tuxedo that passed over a year ago. I wanted to ask if by any chance your Sooty was named after the soot sprites from Studio Ghibli?

Sorry for the loss of your friend. Give yourself time to grieve and when the time is right find some kitty who needs you as Sooty would want.
