Stories Cat morning scare

So my cat was completely 100% fine last night. Even woke me at 2am and was energetic and running. This morning, as I'm leaving for uni, I see foaming near my bedroom door. I find him lying in the stairs. I go to him, he doesn't get up like he usually does. I gave him a slight nudge, he got up. his tail was like really low and not moving and he barely walked down the stairs and looked stiff. By then, I didn't register the foaming at the mouth. Then, near the front door, I see more foaming, but it's dry. I literally gasped and immediately was like. "You're gonna drop me off at uni and IMMEDIATELY take him to the vet!" And while I do think it would've been better to bring him with me and have them drop him off on the way, I was like.. lost and panicking.

Full physical exam, lab and chem panel later, he is COMPLETELY FINE.

they're keeping him for observation until 5pm when I finish uni and pick him up, but yeah, after a full evaluation, they tell me he's fine and actually, his kidneys are doing so, so much better than back in June when we had a lily incident.

Wow. In a few hours, I'll go to the clinic and talk and pick him up, but.. wow.

I was gonna say, probably got into something. My cat once licked some spicy mustard from dirty dishes before we got them in the dishwasher, and we didn’t know it until there were mustard pukes all over the house 😑 My partner thought the cat had a disease, but I found the clues of tongue marks on the uncleared dishes and solved the mystery before a trip to the emergency vet.

The thing is, this guy foamed at the mouth three separate times at three different places. Two were dry, one wasn't. And you know, when foaming and lethargy are there, you don't gamble.

So at the vet he wasn't even lethargic they told me he was grumpy but moving and everything. Physical exam was all ok and blood test was amazing that when I went to pick him up the vet literally showed me the paper and said "I am so happy with these results" so..

Yeah they told me to text them if it happens again and they'll give me instructions on what to do, but if there's new symptoms, I come by. If it's just the vomiting, they'll give me instructions.

He's now buried in his food plate. Like, head in the plate, eating like nothing ever happened.
