Wedding Cakes My first official wedding cake
Just wanted to share big milestone in my cake decorating journey. I have done other wedding cakes before but this is my first official one, cake tasting, delivery and all! Delivering this thing was actually so terrifying! I had a lot of fun doing it and it was a wonderful learning process. Hopefully I get to do many more!

Wow beautiful job. How long did the buttercream decorations take?
2
u/MayBbwCandleBaker Aug 12 '26
Thank you 🙏🏻 just the piping it's self probably less than 3 hours maybe 2. I know all in doing everything took me around 6 hours. The bottom tier of course took the longest. I took a few breaks cause I was going crosseyed.

u/Legitimate_Ad2815 Aug 12 '26
Wow that’s good timing, you have a blessed talent. 🙏🏼

My first cake decorating job was all about production so I know how to knock stuff out pretty quick! Thank you so much for the compliments I appreciate it so much 🙏🏻🫶🏻❤️

Absolutely incredible. This type of piping is my favourite to look and do. Stressful but rewarding. Congratulations, you'll have no trouble getting more business :)

2
u/MayBbwCandleBaker Aug 12 '26
Thank you so much 🫶🏻 I did deliver it! I had so much anxiety! The traffic HATED me I started laughing half way through the drive it was great!

WOW! This is absolutely amazing! I cannot believe this is your first wedding cake. It looks like you’ve been doing this for decades! How many hours did you put in and how much did you charge?
Doing the cake tasting must have been so fun! How many options in cake flavours and icing were there for them to try? What flavours of cakes were these layers did they choose and is there different icing flavours under the white, or did you just use vanilla buttercream cream?
This cake is absolutely sensational, OP! Are you working in a bakery, out of a commercial kitchen, or are you working from home? I would be truly thrilled if my cake showed up like this! It’s like a lambeth cake but in all one colour. The piping you have done here is incredible!
I would freak out transporting this cake! I think I’d max out at 20km/hour with my hazards on!
Thank you again for sharing your wonderful work with us, OP! I look forward for seeing your work as the orders flood in now! 💗

I think all in I put in maybe 6 hours of work. I work in a bakery, maybe some day I'll open my own business but for right now I enjoy what I do. I have an incredible team I work with. The cake was a classic vanilla cake filled with bavarian cream with American vanilla buttercream. Definitely drove about 20 under the speed limit and yes I did have my hazards on. I was hysterically laughing cause I was so nervous. There was a lot of pissed off drivers behind me BUT that cake made it!!! Thank you for your kind words and compliments it means the world to me 🫶🏻

You need to get one of those diamond signs on the back window that usually say “Baby on Board,” to say, “Extremely Large and Expensive Wedding Cake on Board.”
Then drive however slow you want! You should get one of those old 80s police car lights that they always pulled out and added it on to the roofs when they needed to do some illegal driving and get there! Have those wired into both sides of your driver and passenger side and Bob’s your Uncle!
Problem solved!
Also, still OBSESSED WITH THIS CAKE! 💗

🤣😂🤣 love it! You're too funny! I bet you're a hoot!!!!

u/PolyesterPantsuit Aug 16 '26
Thats very kind, thank you! People laugh at me a lot so I don’t know if I’m doing that right?
My family often tells me to put my single brain cell to use, so I get on Reddit! I can be annoying, throw out some terrible jokes (and I can’t see anyone roll their eyes at me on here like my husband does and I’m certain every Redditor does too), pretend I know a lot of shit about stupid shit, and work on my jokes so I can be a licensed wedding and bar mitzvah entertainer, (again, my husband told me I needed a license to do that, so I think that’s probably a lie, but I do use too many swears for young people). Maybe I should hit up funerals (at least I know one person can’t be laughing in advance so I wouldn’t take it personally).
Mostly I try and spread as much love, joy, and kindness as I can, in all the subreddits I’m in, subreddits I don’t know I’m in, (or haven’t been kicked out of…I don’t think that’s happened yet…).
Besides, if I can tell someone that is out there on [r/foodporn](r/foodporn) that their pot of instant ramen, made with a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup, an Earl Grey Tea bag and canned salmon, amongst 300 empty 2 liter bottles of Mountain Dew, because they are trying out recipes to add to their repertoire, that their dinner looks super fucking good but maybe help them a bit, I’m going to do it, because being nice and sharing kindness with strangers is fucking free! (I know, too many F bombs right?! My husband didn’t even have to tell my brain cell that!)
That, is my favourite part about life (and the interwebs including Reddit). Saying nice things to people you love and mean it, saying nice things to strangers because it will mean something to them, and say something nice to yourself, because we are all awesome in our own ways! Like I said, kindness is free, and I try and use it use it as much as I can until they try to tariff it! 🫢
Lastly, my husband is currently out with visiting family and it’s too smoky for me outside, and I just put chocolate chips in my Shreddies, and he will never fucking know! 😂
* throws fist in the air like Judd Nelson in the final scene of the Breakfast Club and I briefly hold my raised fist until I can get Simple Minds' "Don't You (Forget About Me)" to play in my iPhone

Very beautiful. I think the piping at the bottom is so heavy that you lose some of the details, but that is the only critique. Great work!

Gorgeous!
Did you do the swags directly onto the cake or did you apply them after they "dried"? I just did some for the first time, on my niece's princess cake, and it hadn't occurred to me to pipe them flat and then apply them.
