Build Upgrade How should I go about upgrading my PC?

These are my current specs

  • Case: Cooler Master Masterbox MB311L
  • Mobo: Gigabyte B450 Aorus M
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X
  • GPU: Sapphire Pulse 5700 XT
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 8 GB 3200 MHz
  • SSD: Samsung 500 GB
  • PSU: Gigabyte modular 750W 80+ Gold
  • 3 intakes: InWin Sirius Loop ASL120
  • 2 exhausts: NZXT Aer F120

I play on 1440p at 60-120 fps. Should I upgrade a piece at a time or just sell the whole PC and move to AM5? If latter, how much can I realistically get out of it here in Canada on places like Facebook marketplace?

What’s your goal?

I’d personally start by upgrading GPU. See how far that gets you, then decide.

I'd keep the platform and grab a new GPU first, 3600X still holds up decent at 1440p where the load shifts more to the graphics card anyway

you can probably get $500-600 CAD for the whole system if you find the right buyer but that feels like more hassle than it's worth, just sell the 5700 XT separately for maybe $200 and put that toward something newer

Alright I'll aim for a new GPU as you and u/Delicious-Wind4631 suggested. I want to get a 5800x3D but the price is very high ($500 before tax). 9060 XT is quite pricey so probably will try for a 6000 series GPU.

What's your upgrade budget? If it's over $2000, then buy a new GPU and upgrade platform. If not, then you will see the biggest performance increase by upgrading parts in this order: 1. GPU 2. CPU 3. RAM

At 1440p, the gpu is more important, but your cpu will start to hold some newer ones back.

You’re out $600 with RAM and motherboard moving to AM5 BEFORE buying a processor. That said your best bet is upgrading your GPU. Value wise buying brand new the 9700 is probably your best bet. With the rate GPU prices are increasing I would spend as much as you’re comfortable with rather than trying to get a good deal.

Get 9070 xt when it goes on sale for black friday, huge improvement, next would be 5800x3d if you’re staying am4. Ram not much difference, maybe SSD to 1-2tb? You’ll be set for the next 5 years
