RJ Mitte (Walt Jr) has passed 😄

Wow, I was shocked to hear this. They are saying it was suicide. So sad. He was only 34 years old. RIP, Flynn ā¤ļø

When we watched BB live our youngest was a toddler and had just been diagnosed with CP, it was a scary time. It sounds so silly, but this was the only space where a character was presented as a human first, and, oh, also, he has CP, anyways. Any other show they make shit like that the defining arc for the character, as well as for the parents, and it’s the worst thing ever. I’ve never seen things presented that way; and I’m very grateful that Mitte did such an amazing job at portraying the character he did, it meant a lot to us at a time that we were struggling and lost. We saw that it could also be totally fine in the future, this didn’t have to define our kid, her name could come first, not her disability. She is 14 now, and we are in a space now where CP isn’t scary at all anymore. RJ Mitte was a wonderful advocate that will continue to have impact for a long time for many.

Thank you, my heart needed this tonight. You're a pretty great parent. Kiddo is lucky to have you.

I loved that too. He was a great actor, and the writers allowed him to showcase that.

Ā I met a major vice president in a very large organization with cerebral palsy. I won’t identify him because I represented his organization in a lawsuit. I worked very closely with him, and was blown away at how talented he was.Ā

The guy single-handedly opened my eyes to so many things.Ā

Not really, the show was written with him having cp on purpose. He didn’t just happen to have cp. if him having cp didn’t matter to the story, the writers wouldn’t have given him cp šŸ™„

No. I get that. The point I was making was this was an actor with cerebral palsy, playing a character with cerebral palsy. He was written without that being the only part of who he was. His character had more nuance than you usually see with characters who are disabled.

Can we please not abbreviate cerebral palsy with cp

•

It’s a very well known abbreviation in disabled and medical communities, you’re the pervert here mate.

It’s the same with child cornography, so stop saying cp. it’s gross

You can’t even type out the word ā€œpornographyā€, so you don’t seem mature enough to have this conversation.

For real, I don’t really know what they want me to start writing on my kid’s school forms now, or on her medical forms.

There’s a couple reasons they’re calling it CSAM now.
