RJ Mitte (Walt Jr) has passed 😥

Wow, I was shocked to hear this. They are saying it was suicide. So sad. He was only 34 years old. RIP, Flynn ❤️

Depression wears you down. You want to escape it. And you do, by having a good night out with friends or playing a game that gets you there. You might have even had one of the best times in what feels like forever. But you know, this reprieve from the burden of depression will also end. The reprieve always ends. The darkness is going to grab you like it always does. The darkness is relentless. No matter how many times you get away, depression gets you again. And again. And again. You're tired. You don't want depression to control your life. So you won't. You can get away, for good, and end the back and forth. You will bask in the recent memory of your friends, your laughs, and your smiles. That is what you think, right to the very end.

A very accurate description of a terrible, terrible disease.

The most accurate analogy I've ever read was this one that compares it to shoveling snow.

It's something I wish everybody could read, and gain even an ounce of perspective.

Hyperbole and a Half has several excellent blogs about her experiences with severe depression. They are raw, beautiful, heartbreaking and hilarious.

Suicide is not a disease bro. It’s a mental problem.

Giving the BOTD:

Did you mean Suicide, or Depression in your claim?

Why do you think mental problems are not diseases?

Where do you draw the line? Rheumatoid arthritis? Leukemia? Seizure? Migraine? Dementia? Bipolar disorder?

Migraine isn’t a disease, bipolar is usually 50/50. I believe most people overdo it by being dramatic.

it’s weird that they’re talking about depression and you act like they called suicide a disease. reading isn’t your strong suit

This is my experience with it, it always come back but I have to force myself to think about the moments that make life worth it and then I remember that depression will also pass like the beautiful moments.

I have had two attempts in my life, and each time there was a mixed feeling when I failed. Shame, guilt of hurting my loved ones, failure, but finally a second chance to just continue.

Rest in peace Junior ❤️

Well said. You captured that relentless cycle and the exhaustion of it all so accurately.
