Dining/Food/Drink 🍽️🍹 Restaurant recommendation for an enemy
Looking for restaurant recommendations for someone I absolutely despise. What’s a place that’s super popular and looks great on paper but is actually a massive disappointment?

Snow 🌨️ ❄️ ⛄ Buy Sidewalk De-Icer Now
Just saw this on LPT. Last winter with all the precipitation it was hard to find anything but the worst options for sidewalk salt. You can avoid that by buying now, before availability and prices get wacky.
But what kind?
Chloride salts are corrosive and will damage concrete as well as asphalt binders, and harm plants, lawns, and pets. Sodium chloride is the worst option you can use. Anything with chloride will have this effect, but sodium, aka "Rock Salt" is the worst one.
The safest options for you, pets, wildlife, and plants, not to mention preventing damage to walking and driving surfaces, are:
calcium magnesium acetate
urea (I bought a bucket of Safe Paw)
magnesium chloride (safest of the chloride salts if you can't find anything else)
sodium or potassium acetate (sometimes only available for commercial applications)
Source: chemist
Bonus tips:
Have Mass Save do a free Home Energy Assessment. They offer free air gap sealing and free or heavily-discounted insulation improvements. With fuel costs having risen even more, we need all the home heating efficiency we can get. They will visit you for free every 2 years, and tend to give out things like LED bulbs and fancy power strips. I had them come again last year, and the state had increased their recommendations on attic insulation, so even if you already had them do insulation a few years ago, you can get a further upgrade.
Seal driveway and sidewalk cracks now, including hairline cracks. Ice forming in cracks will widen them.
Clean your gutters and downspouts.
Watch for puddles on your property with the autumn rains. This is where ice will form in the winter.
Disconnect hoses from outdoor spigots and drain the pipes.
Trim branches overhanging walkways and driveways.

Traffic🚦⛔⚠️ 😠 🚙 🚗 How to get Dashcam Footage to victim?
I witnessed an accident and got the victim to safety, called 911, and gave my witness statement to the police. I just realized my dashcam was running, and it captures the accident and showing the other vehicle hitting them. I was not able to get the contact info for the victim, but they headed to the hospital. The car that hit them was owned by a large business. How can I get this footage to the victim? I could send to cops but I’m not sure if they would get the footage to the victim. I know what hospital the victim went to but no name.
EDIT: victim was pedestrian

Dining/Food/Drink 🍽️🍹 Globe reporter looking to chat with people who have "broken up" with Starbucks recently
Hi folks - I'm Alexa, a retail and restaurant reporter with the Boston Globe. I'm working on a story about Starbucks is vanishing from downtown Boston, and leaving behind empty storefronts where other PE-backed chains, like Blank Street, have moved in, while independents are bubbling up in other parts of the city. Are you a downtown office worker, student, or resident? Have you had to "break up" with Starbucks recently? I want to hear about why, where you're going instead, and what you think of the coffee landscape in downtown.
Please send me an email with any thoughts and your name at [alexa.gagosz@globe.com](mailto:alexa.gagosz@globe.com) or text me at 401-400-1595!
Thank you!

Event 📅 MIT Swapfest “Flea at MIT” Information
October 18th at MIT they have their last swapfest of the year. Cash only. You can get cheap electronics and radio equipment, I attached the flyer and some “haul” photos from this year posted online.
QUESTION: Does this event have any newer computers (from the last ~6 years?) I’m looking for Apple silicon computers, RLTSDR and similar dongles, modern consumer tech, modern networking gear, off lease business computers - stuff you can actually use. I just want to know what portion of the swap is retro stuff versus operable technology for everyday use.

I think I am special and made my own post Hey Boston, what's the most reliable way to the airport by 4AM?
I've had a great time in your city but am leaving thursday on a 6AM flight back home. It just occured to me that there might not be many ride shares during that time. I'd love to hear from someone who else whose had an early flight. Is rideshare reliable at 3:30AM, or is there a taxi service you'd recommend to preschedule?
I did search past posts, but posts were a few years old or not close to the early timeframe.
P.S y'all got some weird flair options..but is suits a sub for a wicked awesome city!

History 📚 Anyone remember the guys that played Wiffleball on Overland St. before Red Sox games?
Funny what you remember when you're drinking on dreary Tuesday night. This had to be 25 or 26 years ago now. Peak Red Sox. Going to games I remember seeing a group of friends always playing wiffleball in Overland St. just outside Fenway.
Don't see a lot of wiffleball being played anywhere anymore. Shame.
Anywho back to The Sauce.

Politics 🏛️ Is anyone else struggling to register to vote?
I tried to register in person a few weeks ago, but it’s not showing up on the voter registration lookup website: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/VoterRegistrationSearch/MyVoterRegStatus.aspx
As well as no mail or emails confirming
Is anyone else facing this issue?
