Terminal Cost of a single terminal?

Hi - I'm working on my PhD in finance (remote, so no univ library access) and am going to add this to a grant proposal. Does anyone have a rough sense of the cost? I'm seeing numbers all over the place online. Thanks!

Terminal Leverage bloomberg

Hi, I’m seeking some advice.
How can one leverage a Bloomberg terminal to generate income or gain insights that are exclusively available through them (aside from certifications)?
If anyone could assist me, I would be very grateful.

Terminal Anyone using ASKB? How do you find it?

Anyone out there using the Bloobmerg AI tool ASKB? I have tried it, but I haven't found it to be any better than generic AI tools like the paid version of Claude. It is sometimes a bit better at some things, but it slow and it isn't able to build Excel spreadsheets. Claude can build excel spreadsheets using Bloomberg formulas.

Anyone found things that ASKB is very good at?

Terminal Bloomberg for extracting multiple company data at once (not a data request)

Hi. It’s for my research. I have only used this terminal once and it’s overwhelming. I couldn’t figure out how to extract multiple company data at a year range, at once. If you know of the Eikon Refinitiv (now LSEG) database, there is a screener system to manually pick variables, then with one click you can have all the data in your excel spreadsheet. Please, if anyone knows of any tutorial I'd be ever grateful.

Terminal More 'N/A Review' errors since this month on Public/Multi-User Bloomberg Terminal?

Hi everyone,

Since the beginning of this month, we've been seeing a significant increase in "N/A Review" errors when downloading Bloomberg data into Excel from our public/multi-user terminals.

The "N/A Review" error indicates that we've reached our data download limit. However, we haven't changed our usage patterns at all—same spreadsheets, same users, same workflows.

Has Bloomberg recently changed any usage limits or data download policies for public/multi-user terminals? Has anyone heard anything from Bloomberg support?

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

We're based in Germany, in case this is region-specific.

Thanks!

Terminal Fixed Income Execution

For four months I have been trying to enable fixed income execution directly through the terminal. Our account manager set up a call with the fixed income electronic trading specialist. They said additional paperwork was required. After multiple follow up emails/IB chats with no response, I reached out to our sales contact. He apologized, said some coverages had changed on the specialist and account manager side, and sent the paperwork. We signed the additional paperwork weeks ago and now again, no responses on next steps or enablement.

By far, the worst service I’ve seen from Bloomberg. I don’t even know what to do anymore.

Terminal Punished by Bloomberg because i'm in a relationship with a CS agent, and her coworker is jealous. Help?

Tried to post it with a throw-away account but it didn't work lol. This is a serious question btw.

So… I had the most fun help desk experience ever with a Bloomberg CS rep. She’s beautiful, funny, and easy-going.

It started with a regular call to the Help desk, we laughed a lot, then moved to Terminal IB messages for a few months. We even had some video calls. Usually work-adjacent but definitely flirty. We even met a few time to grab a coffee in the morning (we're working a few blocks away in NYC).

Here’s the twist: she’s got this male coworker who’s been trying (unsuccessfully) to get her to dinner. She told me he’s been persistent but awkward, and honestly, he gives off total inc*l vibes.

Well… apparently Inc\l Guy* went to HR claiming that my flirting with her made him uncomfortable and that a BB user/customer shouldn't have the right to date or flirt with a Bloomberg employee.

Bloomberg CS then forwarded me an email from Bloomberg HR saying:

  • We can’t flirt over the terminal anymore when he is working at the same time as her in their NYC office because it might upset Inc\l Guy*.
  • They’re blocking BOTH of us from messaging each other on Bloomberg IB for 1 month as a “punishment.”
  • I can still call the Help Desk… but they are blocking me (BB username and phone number) from being routed to her over the phone.

So now we’re both PUNISHED by BLOOMBERG? WTF? Not because either of us complained or felt uncomfortable, but because a jealous incel coworker decided our fun was too much for him to handle.

What should I do??! Currently serving my sentence but this isn't normal right? Like wtf??!

Terminal Let's talk AI Disruption and Opportunities - BB vs. S&P CapIQ vs. Factset vs. LSEG

Long-time buy-side guy and data nerd here who's used BB, S&P CapIQ and Factset pretty heavily. I've been following all the head-spinning AI updates and trying to figure out whether these players get disrupted, if so which players, or if they actually benefit from AI. The story in the market seems to be that their terminal values get cut down significantly because the end user will increasingly move to AI platforms as the main interface and they will lose seats (also with layoffs) and just become increasingly commoditized API pulls. They each have hedges to varying degrees such as BB's chat, S&P ratings, etc. but I'm mainly referring to their terminals/work stations.

My take is: they will actually be fine because their advantage is accurate, concorded, audited data and sticky user interfaces that can be improved over time with AI (I think this is already going on). I don't think AI interfaces will be the primary UIs for the buy side, sell side, and wealth management. There are too many embedded workflows and AI is a cool new tool that works better inside the original tools than trying to lift all the existing processes and put them into new AI platforms, especially where there is an arms race with the foundational model players and you probably don't want to hitch your wagon to the wrong horse. Where I do see more people using these Big 4 through API calls from AI platforms are the quant funds who have no real interest in the Big 4's interfaces.

Curious what everyone's thoughts are and what your experience has been so far. Has your firm been using more AI? are you doing more API calls for data needs through AI platforms instead of going to the terminals / work stations? What do you think about the relative positioning of the Big 4 today? Do you believe in the imminent collapse in seats? Do you think AI destroys the moats these guys had?

Terminal How could university student or a university get access to Bloomberg Terminal?

My SUNY (State) University does not have access to Bloomberg Terminal nor a course/class covering this but it’s a requirement for most finance internships (Job Descriptions on LinkedIn).

I am not sure if I can convince my university to dish out $22,000 per year to maintain Bloomberg terminal access.

So my question is that as a university student does Bloomberg Terminal offer a discounted/free access to learn or could the university qualify to receive free/discounted access for its students?

Any help would be great!

Is there any payable service to increase API-RealTime Usage Limits for individual users? Say you approach a hard cap usage level at x and want to double this number.

Terminal Data extraction and billing

Hello,

I extracted 40 ESG indices for 1100 different companies from a Bloomberg terminal at work using BDP in the Excel add-in. I need this data for a data analysis for my final year project.

I wanted to ask my manager if using this data was permitted for the analysis in my project (I haven't done anything yet). My manager then informed me that Bloomberg billing depends on the volume imported and the fields used. I wasn't aware of this at all, since we regularly extract small amounts of data from the terminal and no one had warned me about this.

He told me to wait for the next invoice to see the impact. Could the invoice be significant? Could I be held liable in this case? (I work for a large company in France). I'm quite worried, to be honest.

Thanks in advance

Terminal Anyone here using BQuant Enterprise? Looking for real feedback

Hey folks,

My team has been using BQuant Desktop for research, and we were recently pitched BQuant Enterprise by Bloomberg reps. Before going further, I wanted to get honest feedback from people who’ve actually used Enterprise in practice.

Specifically curious about:

• How the compute compares to Desktop (limits, performance, heavy Python workloads)

• Whether data/time-out limits are meaningfully better

• How mature scheduling / automation really is (daily jobs, retries, logs, etc.)

• What kinds of workflows people actually run in Enterprise vs Desktop

• Whether the cost feels justified compared to other internal or external setups

Would love to hear real-world experiences — good or bad. Thanks!

Terminal ASKB Bloomberg Ai

Hi,

has anyone here already tried the beta of ASKB, Bloomberg’s AI? I’m currently thinking about prompts that would make research work easier. Does anyone have any suitable ideas—or even ready-made prompts?

Thanks!

Terminal How to pass a FLDS query

Hello,

I am working with bloomberg rest api.

I am looking for specific fields on a setp of tickers, here are some of these:

"EURUSD ECB Curncy"
"EURCLP BFIX Curncy"
"EUR1W Curncy||1|FWD_CURVE_QUOTE_FORMAT|POINTS|"
"EURCAD3W Curncy||1|FWD_CURVE_QUOTE_FORMAT|POINTS|"
"CHSWPF  Curncy"
"JYSO7 Curncy"
"ESTRON Index"
"EUR012M Index"

I would like to fetch the list of avaiable fields for each of these securities. I am a newbie using bloomberg but i understood it is the FLDS command from the terminal. I can't use a terminal i just have access to the rest api.

For now, i have fetched all avaiable fields, there are 90K+ different and i am trying to guess the field names i am looking for. Would be great if anyone know how to pass a FLDS command using REST API.
