Why is it that black cats seem to join your family in 3s?

347

u/Poethegardencrow 14h ago

Omg

54

u/kittytime44 13h ago

Three little voids in one household? That’s a whole shadow council 🖤😂

18

u/CatDadof2 13h ago

I love orange cats, including mine, but the right one could totally be an orange cat. 🤣

4

u/xSTSxZerglingOne 8h ago edited 6h ago

The black pigment is very, very, very dark orange. Black cats that spend significant time in the sun get bleached slightly orange.

As is visible in the comment at top level.

I only have one, I'd like this problem to happen to me

minimum number to be considered a "coven"

11

u/Revolutionary_Let63 4h ago

CDS didn’t get the memo in my case

7

u/alittlegnat 4h ago

3 here !

5

u/carrieberry 13h ago

OMG - I currently have 2!

6

u/Tree_Weasel 13h ago

I had one. And then the cat distribution system said, “No, that will not do.” And sent me a mother and her kitten.

5

u/carrieberry 13h ago

I'll patiently await delivery of my 3rd!

If you find the right spot it’s easier than you think to call a meeting of the void council

16

u/BigShoddy777 11h ago

The void council has assembled. The chipmunks are clearly on the agenda today

146

u/thrill0g 14h ago

21

u/Exact-Enthusiasm-803 13h ago

You interrupted something

118

u/marycat07 14h ago

Trying to photograph them all in a line is my life’s mission! One day I hope to capture a shot like yours.

(Please excuse the couch as the cover was being washed.)

15

u/SlateRustrod 14h ago

yeah, they never stay in one spot for more than 5 seconds

7

u/SierraPapaWhiskey 12h ago

That front one’s face! I could never say no to that face.

I'm going to need you to send me some cat seeds for next spring

14

u/let_there_be_cat 9h ago

Remember to plant your cat seeds in the shade for the black cats. Too much sun and they come out orange!

7

u/SlateRustrod 11h ago

too cute

Non cat owners: why do you people take so many pictures of your cats?

Us: see above

6

u/QueenRotidder 13h ago

right! I unfortunately just lost my youngest of 3 out of the blue and I am so glad I took so many pics of him!

What I'm learning from this post is that I need two more voids

13

u/SlateRustrod 11h ago

At least two

16

u/gogoflowerrangers 6h ago

6

u/SlateRustrod 6h ago

That's a great wood burner. I miss having those. Right where I would expect to find those voids!

another cat sub? Sign me up!

22

u/Lycrist_Kat 13h ago

3

u/venus_mars 11h ago

this made me laugh out loud so yeah, pretty accurate 😸

3

u/thousandsofbirds 7h ago

Me: how many cat subs is too many cat subs to join? Also me: don't care, join them allllllllllllll

5

u/KittyCubed 12h ago

Ooh, one I haven’t actually joined yet.

10

u/vassnya 13h ago

My hoard

4

u/SlateRustrod 12h ago

That's wild, because this is the mom of the two in the back:

And that might be one of ours on the left... but this was taken a week or so before we took them home and momma had 5 black kittens in that litter... so not sure.

And yes, ours can be very talkative

11

u/Low-Competition-4515 10h ago edited 9h ago

Just got the update yesterday 👌

8

u/mrcameltoad 15h ago

Two have settled on how they’ll kill you. The third looks a little concerned about the plan.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/Least-Explanation390 11h ago

You organized them by tail length. Well done.

6

u/theookers 10h ago

Just get them at breakfast :)

6

u/Chivalry4Me 15h ago

Perfection.

7

u/Faunacallieclover 15h ago

Purrrfection..🤭

6

u/jennybleue98 15h ago

Wow…🖤🖤🖤

6

u/Background_Edge_346 14h ago

I love their tails being in sync too, shortest to longest. I had a manx and it typically looked just as confused 😆 is yours aware that they should be plotting with the other two?

6

u/Weird_Fiches 14h ago

I just love black cats. But I have to ask - do you know which one is which in that photo? 😹

12

u/SlateRustrod 14h ago

It gets harder, but yes - it's in the eyes. The two sibs in the back have more brown in the eyes; the older one up front has green eyes. And of the sibs, one is chunkier than the other.

But they're all standard issue black barn cats.

3

u/lovestobitch- 14h ago

Can’t imagine three beauties. My two were hard to tell the difference except one had a bent tail or who knows how messed up their names would be.

7

u/Capital-Buy1491 11h ago

This deserves to be in a calander or magazine

7

u/TheRealMrExcitement 10h ago

Adorable! We have a little bob-tailed noir as well!

3

u/SlateRustrod 10h ago

she has a full tail, she just apparently left it upstairs this morning :)

No, now you have to ad a fourth void.

12

u/SlateRustrod 7h ago

We have a void dog

4

OK.... a fifth.

6

u/eisakeisak 5h ago

That would make a FABULOUS poster. Full wall size. I has a vision

6

u/dontipitova9 14h ago

One's like, "what are you guys looking at?"

5

u/andre5913 14h ago edited 13h ago

There is something deeply captivating and hypnotic about this photo. I thought it was a painting for a moment. The 2 direct stares and the one off towards the distance...

5

u/isuxblaxdix 13h ago

5

u/jar_girl82 13h ago

Prime Time TV for these two.

3 Ninjas protecting your property, you are blessed !

6

u/SlateRustrod 13h ago

Fitting, because I'm vegging out to bad ninja movies on pluto tv right now. Currently watching the Scott Adkins classic, Ninja (2009)!

→ More replies (3)

3

u/Yaasss_Queef 12h ago

3 Ninjas was filmed at my school and neighborhood. It was a fun experience, the school closed for a few days for filming, and my class was hired to be background actors. I’m the nerdy Asian girl in the basketball scene!

4

u/sarazbeth 12h ago

I love when they line up!

4

u/SoManyThrowAwaysEven 12h ago

"Whoa, deja vu."

4

u/smackaroonial90 12h ago

Looks like a failed Animorph transformation with only the tail getting longer 🤣

5

u/SlateRustrod 12h ago

lol, yup! Not sure where she left her tail... she does have a regular sized one somewhere

4

u/thespianomaly 11h ago

3

Don’t let that keep you from trying, tho …

3

u/Unusual_Cattle_2198 14h ago

They look, to me, very similar. How do you tell them apart?

2

u/SlateRustrod 14h ago

It's getting harder. One is 3 years older than the other two, who are sibs. Older one has very green eyes. The other two have more brown in the eyes. And of those two, one is a bit chunkier. But from a distance, it's getting very hard to tell!

3

u/SnooApples4176 14h ago

Best thing I have seen today! Black cats for the win! ❤️

3

u/umbral_sparrow 13h ago

This is so gorgeous OP! I would have this framed and placed in my house 💜 Much love and health and happiness for you and your void babies! I hope one day I can have 2 more join my little void but he has to deal with my mothers annoying orange (he’s a goof, but my void just wants a cat with a consistent braincell 🤣)

3

u/FoxMeadow7 13h ago

Album name ideas?

3

u/Quietstorm00 13h ago

How do you tell them apart?

4

u/SlateRustrod 13h ago

The eyes and weight! Doesn't look it here, but the middle one is actually quite a bit heavier than the other two
