Look at this bastard Megathread: Bastard Suggestions Part 2
To make the bastard suggestions easier for Robert to peruse, please put them here.
Please try to include more than just a name. Give Robert something to focus his research on and why they are a unique or interesting bastard. If there are book titles or other resources you would suggest, please include those as well.
If someone else has already suggested the same bastard you wanted to suggest, you do not need to suggest them again. Repetitive answers will be politely removed. If someone was suggested in a previous thread, you do not need to suggest them again.
If you have posted suggestions as their own individual thread in the past, feel free to repost here if you would like Robert to read them. We will be directing future bastard suggestion posts here as well. Happy suggesting!

Weekly Discussion Thread - October 06, 2026 Spoiler
Criticism of Sophie will not be tolerated and may result in a permanent ban. Yes, forever.
Obviously you can criticize Robert. It's what brings us together.
https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323/
Criticism of guests is against policy and will be removed at Robert's request. Also because they are guests and we should make them feel welcome, because we are at least 40% not assholes.
CZM hosts will be treated the same as Robert in terms of criticism, but critical comments will be removed if they break the don't be mean rule. Except Robert. Criticism of Robert can be mean if it is funny.
Host criticism outside of this discussion post will likely be removed. You all nuked that eel horse.
Guests and hosts are normal people who read these comments. Please consider how it would feel if the comment was about you.
Be nice to each other. You can argue all you want but you can't fight.
Fascists and Tankies and their defenders will be permanently banned, because obviously.

Discussion Culture wars, just in time.
Is it me or does anyone else see the outrage about a misogynistic throw away Shane Gillis joke conveniently timed? The midterms are close, a lot of people voted red because they were sick of the cancel culture and suddenly I'm seeing a big push against the most popular comic in America. Perfect time to engage that crowd.

General discussion Melbourne Florida police were called to look for missing teen. Instead they break a different kids arm
In June 2026, police were called by a mother to look for her 16 year old son. Her son had runaway and she wanted him detained under the bakers act. Unfortunately the officer who responded was William Markle of the Melbourne Florida PD. He had previously been reprimanded for aggressive behavior when charging a man sleeping in his car at a gym parking lot with trespassing. Or the time he showed up at his exes apartment banging on her door.
While searching for the missing teen, Officer William drove his car next to Cohen(Judah?) Everage, a neighbor and friend of the missing teen helping look for him. William got out the car and ran towards him yelling ‘I’ll fucking tase you’ before tackling him. 3 other officers pinned Cohen with him and broke his arm while he was yelling “I’m not him, I’m not him, I know his mom”. Cohens parents are now suing the department. Willliam Markle resigned from the force after the bodycam footage released.

Anti-Bastard Could the Signal CEO be a possible Non-bastard CEO? Maybe the opposite of Alex Karp?
Just stumbled across this interview with the CEO of Signal because the BBC was essentially whining that she refused to really answer their "rapid fire hot take" questions at the end of this interview. She kind of seemed to give the journalist a break and backhandedly blamed the dumb questions on the enshittification of big media and social media. So I decided to look up the whole thing, and based on the interview I kinda like her a lot.
https://youtu.be/Y7lEm-sq64Q
I'm going to look up some more interviews, but can she actually be a really great and thoughtful CEO who realizes her "peers" are a bunch of clowns and idiots? Is there anything problematic about Signal or her that I dont know about? I always liked Signal, but never really read up on them as a company much and always had the pessimistic attitude that they couldnt really be that great.

I don’t know where else to ask Francoism is on the rise in Spain and you could help Catalans buy their community center.
Hello Everyone,
The club that I do BJJ/Kickboxing and learn Catalan is crowdfunding along with a dozen other clubs to buy the Ateneu where they host their community outreach activities.
What is an Ateneu? It is a grass-roots run community civic center that offers a multi purpose space for people to find community through clubs, workshops, and live entertainment. All of these programs are free, run purely by volunteers and open to anyone to join.
When I arrived in Catalonia, a coworker recommended that we visit the Ateneu to meet with Catalans for a language exchange. This is a mutually beneficial practice for Catalans to personally meet with immigrants and preserve a culture and history.
Already the Ateneu hosted a ska punk show and raised 1/45th of their targeted goal. The Ateneu needs 38,000€ to secure a mortgage, but they are looking to raise 75,000€ which will go towards paying off the mortgage early.
Today they have officially began their campaign, so if anyone is interested in sending a donation, I will provide a link along with more information on where you get follow updates.

Politics A punk band named Gottlieb has released a 10-hour "Hannoi Hannah"-style audio track to be used at protests.
I'm not sure if crossposting is allowed, but I wanted to share this here; a punk band named Gottlieb released a 10-hour track to be played at protests (volume alert). I heard about it in /r/folkpunk, but it was crossposted from the Trumpvirus subreddit (again, volume alert).
It's basically 10 hours of someone calmly saying things meant to take a psychological toll on ICE, police, etc., and presumably reinforce support for protests/protestors at the same time. I think it's a really incredible thing, even though I know it will be polarizing (I'm not sure this thread won't be removed, but I'm posting on the off-chance it won't be).
Lines from the video in the linked post include, "Why are you serving the interests of billionaires who are in the Epstein files? Whose side are you on? Are they on your side? Are you on your side?" and "Do you think these billionaires, politicians, and bureaucrats give a shit about you? And yet you are being forced to continue escalating this conflict in person in the most heavily-armed country in the history of the world. Each of you is outnumbered one thousand to one. You are facing the most heavily-armed population in human history. Your leaders want you to die to further their own agenda -- against your own interests, against your own intelligence, against your own morals." Full disclose, there are also lines about them abusing their loved ones and ending their own lives at higher rates; there are likely many more such lines in the full track; hence my mention of it maybe being polarizing, though I'm not sure how the way this subreddit would receive it would different from other subs.
I took the title of this thread from another, since I wasn't sure I could crosspost it; but I've heard about Hanoi Hannah (Wikipedia link) before. She ran a radio show in English to demoralize US troops in Vietnam; if you've heard of Tokyo/Tokio Rose (Wikipedia link), who operated during WWII, they did similar things. There are many other similar efforts linked in the "See Also" section. I think Robert has mentioned them on the show?
Despite being aware of those two radio programs and their significance, I never really stopped to zoom out and look at all the ways of resisting that we don't normally jump to. The fact that someone could just throw this on a CD (can confirm it will fit!) and play it in public for hours makes me think that I need to revisit the many, many different ways of resisting. There have been so many efforts that have been lost to time or poor record-keeping or geography, and I think they should be remembered.
So many people fight back in ways that aren't what other people would traditionally think of when imagining what "fighting back" means. For example, I do vaguely remember that story about the Ukranian grandma handing some Russian soldiers sunflower seeds for their pockets, so if they died the seeds would grow into sunflowers (I was never sure if that was apocryphal). I do remember the impact it had -- it likely made some question themselves, and likely galvanized others. Gottlieb's 10-hour track seems like it would have a similar impact if it escapes containment the way that story did, and I wonder what other examples there might be.
It seems like it would be something that would fit well in a BtB episode, and I think this community would be one who could share more info on similar/related things. I'd really love recommendations on what to look into, and if anyone has any recommendations for BtB or adjacent pods that touch on this general idea and on the various ways in which resistance forms and is sustained. I have several episodes downloaded from It Could Happen Here, including all the Darien Gap episodes, and I just listened to and love the "You Already Know How to Organize" (Dec. 13, 2024) episode the other day. I've got the Myanmar "Printing the Revolution" episodes queued up right now, and I'd love to hear what else people recommend.

I don’t know where else to ask Havent listened in over a year, any standout eps?
I stopped listening around late June/early July last year (mental health/homelessness). Looking to get back into BtB/ICHH/Cool Zone stuff. Ideally I'd like to catch up with everything, but its a huge backlog(ICHH daily alone would take ages). What episodes would you recommend?
