Meme DEPLOY THE BOY!
A bit wobbly, but it'll get that PSR under control shortly.

If the wind catches it, it's gonna move faster than the real thing

Which sucks because the best part of the Urbanmech is that you can't get a ticket for speeding in a school zone.
12
u/Malkryst Jul 29 '26
Then you get fined for going so slowly on the highway and causing a 3 mile tailback...
15
u/TheBdougs Jul 29 '26
That's why mine comes with hazard lights.

You need to get one of those orange triangles the Amish use on their buggies.

Now I'm imagining an UrbanMech painted in red-outlined orange triangle pattern camo for some reason...

u/Maximum_Boros Jul 30 '26
I double checked. Unlicensed e-scooters are allowed to go faster than the urbanmech in my state.

Is this actual size?
49
u/TheOtherOtherViper Clan Magical Liopleurodon Jul 29 '26
It's meant to be 1:1 scale, if that's what you mean.
(It's also further evidence that light mech pilots definitely sit in the center torso to some degree)
5
u/DePraelen Jul 30 '26
If so, it's honestly much bigger than I expected. Like, that cockpit is huge when you compare it to the building behind.
It looks like it's about 2.5 storeys tall once its full standing.

u/TheOtherOtherViper Clan Magical Liopleurodon Jul 30 '26
Urbanmechs are 9 meters tall if I remember correctly, making it a little over two stories tall. The building behind this urbie is two stories tall (maybe two and a half with those crenellations).

Where is this?!

GenCon in Indianapolis. Some stuff going on tonight, but the real kickoff is tomorrow AM. CGL is pretty well represented, as is a bank of operational Battletech Pods.

GenCon, that's the Indianapolis events center behind it. Pretty cool place, but GenCon is gonna need to find a new venue, because the center is WAY too small for the number of attendees, at least it was last time I managed to snag a ticket, back in '08.

Depending on the wind, only slightly slower then an actual Urbie

If they put that on their online store my bank account might be in trouble 😆
I want to fill it with helium and tether it to my house 🤣
Urbies gotta Urb!

Played a game with a force of 8 UrbanMechs defending a city plaza this evening, the little fellas won the day.
Urbie forever!

You could just go out back, there are probably a few trash cans in the alley next to the dumpsters /s ;)

What do you think one costs?
A big dino from here is about $5k. cuttingedgecreations.com/collections/custom?page=2
So, maybe $10k?

Potentially, depending on how precious Topps wants to be about the IP.

So I know a little bit about this. Seems the CGL powers thought they'd get BOTH an Urbie and a Marauder (or Timberwolf depending on which CGL'er you talk to). However, the company who made the Urbie would have been tied up on two Mechs for the entire year. Not a feasible thing. At the time of the discussion, there were talks of the other Mech being built.

u/Astartes41 Jul 30 '26
Well. I didn’t know I needed a new slot in my budget until now. Or does this still fall under the “nerd stuff” category?
1
u/Psygnal Jul 30 '26
The moment they do a life-size inflatable Timberwolf is the day I get a second mortgage to buy one.

u/prdarkfox Jul 30 '26
I'm definitely not complaining, but they're getting a ton of mileage out of the Inflatable UrbanMech. How many GenCons has this been? Three? Four?

The oldest pic I personally have is 3 years, so that's our minimum age.

GenCon in Indianapolis. Specifically, the East side of the ICC, a tiny plaza just north of the intersection of Georgia and South Capitol.

Trothkin, am I a bad Clanner for wanting an inflatable Timber Wolf/Mad Cat?
1
u/Vote_for_Knife_Party Clan Cocaine Bear Aug 06 '26
Neg, it is perfectly reasonable to want such a thing, which would be extremely cool. Though I have concerns of how well the Timber Wolf's somewhat noodley limbs would translate into inflatable form, to say nothing of the chicken legs (a Marauder would have the same problems).
1
u/Far_Side_8324 MechWarrior (Clan Nova Cat) Aug 09 '26
I would think that if the inflation tube ran to the CT, the legs shouldn't be too much of a problem. The boxy arms could be held up with guy wires attached to the side torsos if need be, I assume. Either a Mad Cat or a Marauder (presumably the Reseen design after the Unseen fiasco) would be awesome alongside the UrbanInflatable above, IMHO.
Ye gods, what if someone decided to do a 1:1 scale Atlas inflatable?
