The Ashbender has been incredible this postseason.

Love Ashby--the pen's absolute workhorse, but let's not forget Abner Uribae!

The suspension was worth it for this gif

I'm continuously amazed by the quality of relief pitching around the league. So many teams have multiple guys who would have been considered elite closers ten years ago. That, to me, is the biggest culprit in the sport's offensive decline. The velocity and break those relievers can generate is unreal.

I think I saw in game 1 our average fastball speed was 99.7 lmao. Highest in a postseason ever. Obviously part of that is Miz but Uribe/Ashby/Megill can all hit triple digits

Ashbender is a perfect nickname

u/a1oner_bvcksn6 Milwaukee Brewers 4h ago

It is, but by the same token, it envokes all the times the 'airbender' choked so I'm gonna be iffy about it until we can actually pull it off

I like the vulture alot from the regular season too

To do this against the Dodgers' lineup is extra sweet

u/xyzzy321 St. Louis Cardinals 4h ago

Cardinals legends May and Romero

this is EXACTLY how we thought the best-case scenario to be

27

u/fishdude89 Milwaukee Brewers 3h ago

well I think the best-case scenario for May was actually when he pitched 7 no-hit innings against the Brewers earlier this year as a starter

Immovable object has turned presumed unstoppable force (Dodgers) into dog toy getting thrown around

u/stormchaser2014 Milwaukee Brewers 4h ago

This is actually shocking that that's never been done before.

What a game. For real.

No perfect extra inning game spread around with 1 hot or 1 walk?

It’s so dumb that we still ban tweets that everyone has just resorted to posting mediocre graphics that is still taken from Twitter anyway

30

u/neosmndrew Cleveland Guardians 4h ago

I mean, why is this graphic worse than some tweet that communicates the exact same thing?

-22

u/MattO2000 New York Yankees • Baseball Savant 4h ago

Because it often times takes away credit from the reporter and is much more clickbaity

18

u/neosmndrew Cleveland Guardians 4h ago

It says the reporter's name both in the post and in the graphic?

And isn't the whole point of twitter to be as clickbait-y in as few characters as possible?

-12

u/MattO2000 New York Yankees • Baseball Savant 4h ago

No because it can link to an article or other site? Or use more than a few words?

Please tell me how it’s better than instead of a screenshot of a tweet we need to rely on someone to turn it into a mediocre graphic to convey less information

9

u/neosmndrew Cleveland Guardians 4h ago

It's better than given twitter more traffic. Sorry that a principled stand incredibly minorly inconveniences you. Have a nice day!

-1

u/MattO2000 New York Yankees • Baseball Savant 4h ago

All I’m asking for is to allow screenshots which is the exact same amount of traffic lol

u/dan_144 Atlanta Braves 1h ago

I really have no dog in this fight, but last week the post about MLB's proposed schedule changes for 2029 onward was a Bluesky link to a Twitter screenshot with no link to the actual MLB press release lmao. Made it extra funny when people were accused of not reading the details in the comments.

This isn't a Jomboy post where he just steals content and stats from other people. This graphic actually credits the report.

I get that it's just reddit/the internet but goddamn is this a painful jumble of words to read. I almost had a stroke trying to piece this together

It's a handy trick that if you struggle with sentence structure that you can write small piecemeal phrases that present the message that you want to convey that can then be linked together using the word "that" that it ends up somewhat making sense anyway.

the twitter ban is the softest shit ever can’t believe we’re still doing this.

u/OnlyForBaseball Pittsburgh Pirates • Sickos 4h ago

I’ve never had a twitter. The fact that it’s unusable to even view stuff without an account is a perfectly fine reason to keep it banned

15

u/neosmndrew Cleveland Guardians 4h ago

People getting upset because they may have to get their sports news and highlights GASP 5 seconds later is so wild to me.

-8

u/MattO2000 New York Yankees • Baseball Savant 4h ago

You realize there’s a lot of baseball stuff that’s only posted to Twitter that can’t be shared here

I don’t even have twitter but the fact that you can’t even take a screenshot and post it is idiotic just the worst kind of virtue signaling

7

u/OnlyForBaseball Pittsburgh Pirates • Sickos 4h ago

“The worst kind of virtue signaling” feels like a stretch

4

u/MattO2000 New York Yankees • Baseball Savant 4h ago

But it is lol like they don’t even allow screenshots, which solves the issue of both not wanting traffic and any login issues

6

u/OnlyForBaseball Pittsburgh Pirates • Sickos 3h ago

An obscure rule on a baseball subreddit shouldn’t be an example of “the worst” of anything in your life

0

u/MattO2000 New York Yankees • Baseball Savant 3h ago

The worst kind not the worst example of it

3

u/OnlyForBaseball Pittsburgh Pirates • Sickos 3h ago

Oh excuse me

2

u/TelltaleHead Milwaukee Brewers 4h ago

Virtue signaling is also good actually.

2

u/OnlyForBaseball Pittsburgh Pirates • Sickos 3h ago

Can’t be throwing him into the deep end with a concept like that

5

u/neosmndrew Cleveland Guardians 4h ago

I mean, we can acknowledge that the twitter ban wasn't just capricious, there was a valid reason(s) for it. And just about every major baseball reporter that I follow has multiple avenues of communicating their reporting.

2

u/MattO2000 New York Yankees • Baseball Savant 4h ago

Ok, where is this posted then?

I get there were reasons but ultimately the boycott didn’t work and plenty of stuff is only posted there

2

u/klahnwi Milwaukee Brewers 3h ago

It's also posted on the Brewers official bluesky.

1

u/MattO2000 New York Yankees • Baseball Savant 3h ago

Idk what I’m missing but I search “Brewers bluesky” and the page is an account that hasn’t posted anything since spring training 2025

Edit: Although now that I look closer. I don't think it's official. Either way though, it's posted there.

-4

u/Marble___ Milwaukee Brewers 4h ago

it had zero effect dude, a completely pointless grandstand. The amount of bs shit posted on BlueSky just to get reddit clicks is genuinely insane, see the NFL subreddit.

8

u/klahnwi Milwaukee Brewers 3h ago

I'm with you. I used to have a twitter. I don't even care about the politics of it all. Twitter sucks all on it's own. There are far better alternatives. And the more we push back against enshittification, the better.

Bullpen is being dominant like the Astros 2022 bullpen! But even better.

Yeah but Don Larsen threw 8 perfect innings in relief of himself in the 1956 World Series.
