Political Question Are federal agents raiding Ilhan Omar and example of political persecution ? Why is the government specifically targeting and double guessing her paper work after 20 years?

Why are Americans letting this happen? It feels like the country is falling apart.

If a large enough group of people gathered and started burning things or doing anything but peaceful protesting regarding this administration it would look a lot more like Tiananmen Square than a revolution. This would almost undoubtedly result in martial law, suspension of elections, and a default into dictatorship similar to what we see in Russia if they ever allowed elections again. The mask has been going down for a while now, people are seeing what’s truly involved and the real reason we haven’t responded as a nation is because a noticeable % of our country is happy about it while an even more depressing amount are ambivalent because the black and brown people are being persecuted but also their gas and groceries are more expensive. This November will be the breakwater for if this thing is gonna go absolutely off the rails to get built back from the ashes or if we can wrest power away from these lunatics destroying out country for their own financial gain.

People keep parroting that he will suspemd elections. He doesn't have any constitutional capacity to do that for any reason. Elections are the duty of the state.

The Trump administration doesn't Need a provacation for any of that. People should indeed defend themselves from tyrannical overreach. The alternative is abetting it.

The idea of Trump retaining complete control of the military in a coup is nonsensical.

And if it looked like tianamen square Americans have something the Chinese don’t. The means to conduct violence effectively.

Yeah, that’s honestly my biggest fear at the moment is that it will end up becoming a violent conflict. It wouldn’t be against historical precedent but I feel that living it and reading it about it are worlds apart and I honestly don’t think it would be something that goes well for the majority of the population. The militarization of most modern police forces has been long standing and as many guns as the public has it would still lead to massive casualties if a true civil war broke out.

Yes, it would be a horrifyingly devastating thing, and I hope to whatever god(s) exist that it doesn’t come to that.

But if it does the dirty civilian channel on YT is a good place to start getting ready. Rebels in Myanmar are already using their videos for training.

Unfortunate we’d likely be on the other side of them.

We need violence

Nonviolence as the imperative has failed the people

I disagree that it’s what we need but I do agree it does seem to be about the only option left if we can’t regain control of the government come November. I don’t think we have had a civil war in a first world country in my lifetime much less a superpower, I don’t think anyone wins if this comes down to something on that scale. I don’t believe there will be any putting the country back together once people have to start killing fellow Americans.

We need a generational shift.

They're kidnapping, torturing, and killing your fellow man from your town in gulags.

There is already no coming back from this

How do we beckon a generational shift?
