SUPPORT | SOLVED What are Efiboot next entries in GRUB menu?
hello everyone, recently some new grub entries spawned in my grub menu after a mkconfig. They are called something like efiboot next on something. how can i disable them and keep: 1. Arch Linux 2. Advanced options for arch linux 3. os-prober like windows boot manager 4. UEFi firmware settings.
Also, i tried editing the loglevel to hide the [ OK ] messages but didn't manage to. Does anybody have these problems and can help me? Thank you for the support.

Efiboot next is when you've a multi boot system and you want to reboot from e.g. windows into linux or vice verse. It literally is the entry that says "what boots next". And it is getting cleared right after. So it doesn't persist.
Also for efi systems you don't really need GRUB anymore. Systemd-boot with it being registered in your firmware is good enough. I think the boot-next entry in Grub was a bit different it was what is ordered after it in the boot chain in bios.

oh that makes a lot of sense now, was wondering why those kept showing up after dual booting. systemd-boot is way cleaner but man some folks just stick with grub out of habit, it's like the vim of bootloaders

No reference to this, so I suggest reading it first. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GRUB, or say you had. Which part confused you?
As may not know, /boot/grub/grub.conf is read to create the displayed menu.
Your post is light on details too.
Hope you get your answer and good day.

The same thing happened to me recently after an update. You can remove the entries, something like:
sudo chmod -x /etc/grub.d/30_uefi-firmware /etc/grub.d/31_efi_bootnext
and then:
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Maybe ask claude for some help.

This is a short-term, temporary fix and will get overwritten by future grub updates. The better/correct way would be to add the following line in /etc/default/grub
GRUB_DISABLE_BOOTNEXT=true
Then rebuild grub with:
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

I think you mean nextboot. If so open the /etc/default/grub and add
To the config file and then run
