Apple TV 4K 3rd gen with Homepods scenario

Hello wonderful people,
Reaching out for a bit of advice regarding an issue I have with the following setup:
One LG webOS TV (LG55C9PLA) with an Apple TV 4K 3rd gen connected to it via the arc HDMI port with audio output to a pair of 2nd generation large Homepods. Whenever I stream something from my local network using the VLC app from the Apple TV I get a delay in audio vs. the video. Sometimes to mitigate I restart everything but it's a hit or miss scenario.
Has anyone found a solution to such a situation?
It's funny that this started some time ago. I had this setup since these 2nd gen Homepods appeared and it worked great but for whatever reason this started happening.

Thank you very much for any hint 🙂

Have you tried the audio sync in the settings, uses your phone as a mic to sync up the audio

That setting uses the LG's speakers to calibrate not the Homepods.

I have a similar setup with an audio sync issue as well. I have Plex and VLC apps on an AppleTV 4k Gen 2.

I primarily play MP4 downloaded from YouTube ad free. However, the videos are downloaded in webm format which I convert to a MP4. The conversion process seems to create MP4 with fewer audio sync problems.

Also, I am convinced that my AppleTV 4k Gen 2 with an Ethernet connection is part of the problem. So I ordered an AppleTV 4k Gen 4 today.
