Leaving a baby unattended for even 30 seconds in a bathtub is the drowning hazard, not the seat.

Literally 80% of baby products recalled could have been avoided if the baby wasn't left unattended.

I know that unsafe and recalled products have existed for as long as consumer protection has been a thing, but I feel like this Temu-ization of the market we’ve seen in the last 20 years has really amplified the risk.

I basically stopped buying anything on Amazon that’s not a recognizable brand. I have no idea what those products are made with, if they’re regulated at all. The worst are the kitchen and baby supplies.

Amazon has hundreds and hundreds of listings for baby sleep positioning pillows and every single one of them is illegal. For awhile I went through and reported them but nothing ever changed. You can sell pillows for babies but you can’t advertise them as a sleep aid and show them surrounding a sleeping babies head in a crib with music notes floating around them.
The baby products on Amazon are the Wild West. Who knows what’s in them and on them, who knows if they comply with any safety standards at all.
They also sell potentially deadly knockoff sports equipment that does not pass any minimum standards for impact/strength.
I wish it wasn’t clear why they’re allowed to get away with it.

Should we not be watching our babies in the bathtub?

Ding ding ding! Pretty impossible to drown if you’re right there and paying attention.

While I understand the sentiment, and it is never acceptable to leave a baby unattended in a bathtub, this is not at all why “most” baby products get recalled.

It's that fast to sell that hurts safety and quality that eventually backfires, smh

> No injuries or deaths have been reported thus far in connection with the recall.
That’s a relief at least. Goes without saying but parents should never leave the baby unattended in the bath!

What’s so funny about it? You’re making light of the deaths of children and the severely mentally disturbed mother. I fail to see the humor.

Deceptive photo when it’s not even the specific seat that’s recalled
