For those curious how the gold reticle looks outside
It’s tricky getting the camera to focus in right spot so had my dad hold the pistol after I helped him out with some stuff 😂 anyways here’s some different backgrounds. The gold is fucking CRISP.
Edit: this is a Holosun HS503r. I showed the reticle yesterday indoors, and someone asked what it looked like outdoors. Figured I’d show some daylight pics

Really? I got a green dot because my buddy’s red dot makes me see 3 dots (also astigmatism), but the green dot fades unit the background unless I have it up so high it star shines 😬🌟

My eyes see red dots as green dots and a red 4 moa dot looks the size of a 2moa dot 🤷🏻♂️ Gold looks mint, though - and mint as in 👌, not the colour

Holosun HS503r multi-reticle. No astigmatism. For me, I’ve always preferred green, but red still looks awesome too. But I do love the gold now, so I really don’t know if I like it over green. But it’s tied for sure. We’ll see Saturday when I go out rounds through it

Thanks man sold pics. I have an astigmatism and tried Holosun green and it was twice as bad as the red. Red was not perfect but clearly better for my eyes

Well, to my knowledge they created gold for that exact purpose, so id for sure try a cheap gold ARO from Amazon just to see. Most people with astigmatism say the gold does wonders, but I know everybody’s eyes are different

Yeah thats what I have heard. I am skeptical but definitely want to try one. It won’t cure my astigmatism but if it’s a good improvement then that’s a win.

Surprised that isn't the standard honestly.
Wonder how it looks under NVGs. Or from a enemy perspective. The advantage of red is that it doesn't mess with your natural night vision.

Sadly I don’t own NVGs, not yet at least, but from what I’ve read, it really depends on which gold emitter it’s coming from. Some apparently block certain light wavelengths and make it difficult. But this model does have two NV modes; in pitch black I can still see the tiniest hair of reticle in one of those modes, whereas red completely disappears. That might effect how it works for NVGs

Looks like it gets a little washed out against white but it looks very nice to use. I wonder how the NV performance is

Against a bright white backdrop with sun against it, it can get washed out, but one or two clicks up from whatever brightness you were on makes it visible again.
I’ll say this, this optic gets so bright on max that it hurts my eyes. I’ve never seen a red or green dot that can get nearly as bright as gold, and I’m guessing that’s why.

The proportion of the reticle in the glass reminds me of good old COD MW1 marines mission (where you stick your eye IN the Eotech yet still get a huge circle dot)

I have astigmatism and I'm so happy to see gold dot sights here. Way too few pics of gold/green. If I may make a suggestion: it'd help a lot if you had pics on sunny days (it looks overcast there), and aiming on a flat white background to be able to see if disappears.

Looks really good! I haven't had the chance to see a gold but I've heard more than a few people saying it looks great. Does it go low enough to work with nods?

I unfortunately don’t have nods to test it out, but it does have two night vision brightnesses. Only thing is that in the brighter NV mode, if the room is pitch black, I can ever so slightly make out a trace of the reticle. That might be too bright for NVG but the lower setting is completely invisible.
I have read mixed things, some people say the AEMS gold is one of the first optics they’ve used that excels under nods, and some say gold can be a struggle. I think it depends on which gold emitter you’re using

It was on eBay new in box for $230 and got an offer for $217. This model has been discontinued for a while, but I wanted it and enough I figured I’d try out the gold. No regrets at all!

Yeah somebody else asked how’s it wash out against bright white backgrounds. It does well for all of the above since the max brightness of this optic is fucking bright as the sun, but I think next week I’ll make another post with some difficult backgrounds and show how it does

A guy at a pistol match let me shoot his 507comp with the gold reticle, it's honestly very weird but it stands out and doesn't blend into anything..... unless you're shooting at a sandy beach

I know this is 100% sacrilege, but I’ve never owned a Trijicon, eotech, Aimpoint, etc nor even hsot most of those brands, so I can’t speak for if they’re better. But I’ve never had a single issue with any Holosun. And the reticle have always been crystal clear, with no parallax. Could just be good luck too. I do want to buy an Aimpoint Duty MRS and compare it to holosuns Circle-dot though
