My grandfather lost a shotgun in a lake duck hunting one year.

They had an open reward with a local dive club, if found. It was the clubs "holy grail".

15 years later the lake was low for dam maintenance and he got the that call. They found his shotgun.

Got it professionally cleaned and passivated. Would never fire it but it does function check.

Sitting in my safe right now.

That’s a really cool story attached to that little piece of your family history.

What model of shotgun is it? That sounds awesome

Browning A5.

My uncle bought him another one he used until he passed so it's neat to have both. Still shoot the replacement.

This would be a fun find at a local museum "this shotgun sat under X lake for X years, owned by X family"

Ok. That’s at least twice now this dude has lost a leg. At some point, you need to be an adult and keep track of your things.

u/imakesawdust 2d ago

I was going to say...how many people can say they lost the same leg twice?

46

u/Quick-Bad 2d ago

Don't ask me, I'm stumped.

u/FrankSonata 1d ago

Wirt from Diablo lost his leg three times somehow...

11

u/caaper 1d ago

Totally. The dude hasn't got a leg to stand on.

3

u/JustHere4the5 1d ago

Well, he still has the one…

u/Responsible-Bend-595 1d ago

seems like some people just have the worst luck, you ever lose anything important?

I grew up in a small town with a lake. Back in the 90s a friend of my dad's friend lost his prosthetic leg waterskiing. The fire department dive team came out and found it for him, used it as a training exercise.

Was it at Legg Lake, California?

Lost by a woman named Irene. She now goes by Ilene.

u/usinjin 2d ago

Ilene Dover and her brother Ben

This is either a cry for help or the beginning of a side quest.

Something similar happened at a river me and my husband were floating with some friends this summer! My husband hit something with his foot and low and behold, pulled out a prosthetic leg! We were thankfully able to return it to the owner; apparently he had only had it for a few weeks and was testing its limitations 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m glad it was him though, I’m sure if I had grabbed a shoe with something attached to it in the water I would have had a heart attack

20

u/csonnich 1d ago

I would have screamed, dropped it, and called the cops.

5

u/NoRelation3158 2d ago

Yeah, I'd be right there heart attacking with you, my friend 😂 but I commend you guys for finding the owner and returning it to him, and it makes for a great party story 🙃 thanks for sharing!

I like how they specified non-magnetic so people interested in helping wouldn't waste their time trying to magnet fish for it.

18

u/Electronic_Elk8293 2d ago

That sucks, prosthetics are so damn expensive. Not to mention now you're down a leg.

12

u/RentalGore 2d ago

Rocket still asking for that leg eh?

I had a tweaker ask me one time if I knew anyone who would want to buy a right prosthetic leg because he had or could acquire several of them. Different styles even. I demured and got the hell out of there. I had questions, but I didn't need the answers that badly

19

u/MartyMacGyver 2d ago

Expensive! Those things cost an arm and a.....

Oh.

Oh dear.

3

u/Quick-Bad 2d ago

Yeah, I bet they're wishing they could kick themselves now.

8

u/rigidlynuanced1 1d ago

Give back the records to Janice

2

u/TempurmentalSam 1d ago

I understand this sentence all too well 😎

4

u/Ok_Replacement4702 2d ago

Needed ASAP for ass kicking contest

5

u/FadedVictor 1d ago

I love the thought of someone catching another leg while magnet fishing and realizing it's not the same leg.

4

u/Abiding_Dude_WV 1d ago

Yeah no luck...every leg I've collected there has been magnetic.

5

u/Puzzleheaded-Zone-55 1d ago

Left or right? I don't want to give you someone else's by mistake.

11

u/Vusstar 2d ago

Thats a shoddy censoring job op.

10

u/AKStafford 2d ago

It’s late. I’m tired. I tried.

4

u/RoastPork2017 2d ago

Her name was Eileen

5

u/Scarlet-Witch 2d ago

Ayo southern Az represent. Hope they find their leg!

2

u/Skrappyross 1d ago

My first thought was 'what lakes are there in 520?'

1

u/TopDesert_ace 11h ago

I know of Parker Canyon Lake or Patagonia Lake. Of course 520 covers a huge area so there's probably more lakes that I'm not aware of. Source: I live pretty close to both lakes.

u/scottylm 2d ago

Can anyone lend a hand is how they should have concluded this message

2

u/withbellson 2d ago

This sounds like a job for those YouTubers who find stuff at the bottom of bodies of water. And sometimes bodies.

2

u/VadersLostLegs 2d ago

The post I've been looking for.

2

u/Ok_Dog_4059 2d ago

You would have a vague idea where right? You don't exactly lose your leg and not notice for a while like it was your car keys.

2

u/Machiavelli1480 2d ago

Was rocket the raccoon swimming that day?

2

u/BooBeeAttack 2d ago

Be happy.

The mermaid in the lake is halfway there to their dream of walking on land.

2

u/Sunny-Damn 1d ago

Do you have the phone number? I have a couple of rather nice prosthetics, both right and left legs, that could use a home. They would have to be refitted but it’s better than no leg!

1

u/BertaRocks 1d ago

I have questions. Those aren’t cheap.

2

u/thatotherguybry42 1d ago

Be on the lookout for a 3 legged man with a 2 legged woman

1

u/MagicOrpheus310 2d ago

Must have been an angry break up...

1

u/kiloo520 2d ago

I found a leg in a lake on Stella rd.

1

u/knowone1313 2d ago

Its gonna be water legged.

1

u/thecolorfulcpt 2d ago

Wow cool. Never lost a leg before. Hope you find it

1

u/gojiro0 2d ago

It's definitely magical

1

u/Skunklvrs 2d ago

I've fallen and I can't get up.

1

u/UnicornTitties 2d ago

Bet he wish he had sprung for the magnets right about now.

1

u/Merlin-1234 2d ago

If he doesn’t get it soon he won’t have a leg to stand on.

1

u/x3XC4L1B3Rx 2d ago

"How'd you lose your leg?"
"It just fell off when I was swimming."

1

u/Cenere_psd 1d ago

"home five yards from his leg" just like that Alt J song

1

u/linkerjpatrick 1d ago

Starlord stole it because he listened to the raccoon

1

u/strutmac 1d ago

Just when I think I’ve seen it all.

1

u/RogueTick 1d ago

He definitely needs a leg up that’s for sure

1

u/SurnameFormer 1d ago

To quote Tumblr as I often do: "OOPS IS INSUFFICIENT"

1

u/doggierescue2021 1d ago

I have two prosthetic legs, belonged to my dad. One has his Sunday shoe on, the other has his everyday shoe.

1

u/ferriematthew 1d ago

Emi Ibarazaki: "...RIN! Did you take my leg?!"

1

u/Whombrillow 2d ago

Good use of words. Sorry to hear a leg was lost/stollen. I get it though, if you said it was titanium they’d likely not return it. Or more would be stolen.

1

u/DRAW-GEARS 2d ago

Why would you censor the number?! What if the leg was actually found by someone reading this post?

4

u/tHrOwAwAyjsalefkj 2d ago

Because people might prank call the person

0

u/DRAW-GEARS 2d ago

Obviously that's a risk, but don't they take that risk when they post their number in the first place? Is there another sub where someone can repost a request like this with contact information? Seems like a flaw in the platform if not.

4

u/tHrOwAwAyjsalefkj 2d ago

There are a lot more people on the internet than there will be walking past this sign though.
