DC: Formal Are any of these dresses considered "formal"?
Definitely not with the boots, belts or accessories shown here, but could any of these dresses be considered formal enough for a wedding?

I am going as a plus one to a wedding that is "formal spooky." I have 3 dress options, and none of them feel dressy enough. I would appreciate any advice. Edit to add: It is on Halloween.

Which dress would look best for a wedding? We’re apart of the immediate family so it had to be sage green. I’m unsure if the detailing on the second dress looks too white.

Purple or green?
I showed the bride the first dress, and she said it fit well with their vibe of “classy elegance.” Even though I have her approval, Im still feeling anxious that other guests might think I am crazy. Haha. So tell me, which one should i wear?? I think Im more comfortable in the purple dress because the green dress is quite revealing (i often dress pretty modestly.) but i think the green dress is more appropriate for a guest, right??
Fwiw:
- my husband is a groomsman and he (and all groomsmen, plus the groom) will be wearing a tuxedo.
- venue is at a winery in Northern California
- i already own both dresses 😅
EDITS:
- green dress is made of chiffon

EDIT- Per everyone's advice this is NOT formal and I will not be wearing it. Thank you all for your kind advice!
Wedding is in November in Dallas, Tx, entirely outside. Dress code is formal.
I'm trying to re-wear this dress I already own, but worry that it's not quite fancy enough. I'm short so it hits longer on me than it does on the model. However, the material is a stretchy knit which is a casual fabric to me. Since the wedding is outside, I can also bring a cream colored shawl which might elevate the look. Idk, what do ya'll think?

Hi all, I am looking at dresses for a wedding later this year. The couple has posted some guidance for colors. They recommend attendees avoid a dark blue-green color (1st pic) because the bridal party will be wearing it, but say that a few other colors (including a dark navy blue, 2nd pic) are welcomed.
I found this dress online (3rd pic) and really like it, but I’m wondering if the combination of the similarity between the colors and the cut/style of the dress I found could end up looking too similar to the bridal party.
I’ve asked friends/family and have gotten mixed advice on whether I should buy the dress or find a different one. So Reddit, would you wear this dress or pass for something more different?
Thanks!

What dc would this be appropriate for? It’s ankle length and the flowers are glittery. I am an older woman.

Wearing this dress for a wedding this weekend. It’s for black tie optional. I’m worried I’m going to be cold? (The back is open) Also is it fancy enough? I liked it when I tried it on but now I’m feeling insecure about it. Help!!

Is this black tie wedding appropriate? If so, what kind of shoes should I get? I was thinking a silver heel. And what kind of bag/clutch?!
I don’t get out often!
EDIT: it is a black tie optional event, I’m 5’ 2” so the gown is actually floor length and the slit isn’t as high as the photo.
I will look into other options!

Should I have the train removed before the wedding?

I’m attending a New Year’s Eve wedding for one of my last single sorority sisters, and I am SO excited! All of my sorority girls and their husbands will be there, many of whom I haven’t seen since my cancer diagnosis.
By NYE, I’ll officially be DONE with cancer treatment, and I want to look and feel absolutely fabulous! I’ll also be debuting my newly grown-in hair after chemo, so this night feels extra special. I’m ready for my comeback moment!
Here’s the dress code straight from the invitation:
“Black tie optional with New Year’s Eve sparkle encouraged. Glitz, glam, velvet, tuxedos, gowns, and polished cocktail looks all fit the night. Give us your best swanky styles as long as you can still shake and shimmy!”
I’m looking for something glamorous, flattering, and fun that makes me feel like a million bucks without upstaging the bride, of course!
One little wrinkle: Between cancer medications, steroids, and treatment, I’ve gained some weight and am currently wearing a size 14/16. I’m still getting used to dressing my new body, so I’d love suggestions for styles that are flattering, comfortable enough to dance in, and make me feel confident.
I’d love your recommendations! Any specific dresses, brands, websites, or styles I should check out? I’m open to sequins, velvet, sparkle, and all things NYE glam!
I’ve spent most of this year fighting cancer, and I’m so grateful to be here. Now I just want to put on a fabulous dress, celebrate my friend, dance with my girls, and feel like myself again.

Wore this as a bridesmaid in a formal wedding and loooved it. Bride had a beautiful green color palette for the girls and let us all pick our own styles!
Dress is Azazie Shaude Size 10. Great option for larger chests. Bonus points for pockets!

The volume of the skirt seems larger in person, also it's listed as a "ball gown." I'm worried this is too dramatic for a formal attire wedding. Dress code: "floor-length gown, an elegant cocktail dress, or an elegant midi dress." Wedding starts at like 4 PM.

November wedding, mid to late afternoon ceremony
Beach town (wedding and reception are not on the beach, but this is a town you go to for the beach)
Dress code- formal
I would like to wear this dress because I already own it, but it feels dark and heavy for an afternoon wedding in a beach down. But it does hit the formal mark.
Do I need to try again, or can I wear this? What day you all?

I don’t usually wear Indian outfits, but since it’s my sister’s engagement, I thought I’d give a lehenga a try! Need your help figuring out how to accessorise it. 🥹
Outfit details: *Brand: House of Indya *Price: Around $46 *Material: silk blend *Footwear: Most probably going with cream-coloured wedges.
What kind of jewellery would look good with this? Should I go for statement earrings, a necklace, or keep it minimal? Open to suggestions! 💗

Can someone link appropriate pics of what outwear would look like for formal and elevated cocktail dress code? I doubt I'll even pass the formal dress code, but it might be chilly so something to wear over a dress is suggested. Is this like a blazer or coat?
Wedding May outdoors in Colorado
*Also, if anyone has suggestions of where to shop for plus size dresses that'd be great

I really like wearing black dresses but now wondering if this is the right choice. I typically dont go with "loud/busy" dresses and prefer simple dresses where I can play with the accessories and makeup. For this one im planning golden accessories and clutch, black shoes, and magenta lips. Any thoughts?
It has pockets and really bring out my features.
Edit: Id be wearing this to both the church ceremony and reception - with a shawl given the weather.

Are any of these appropriate for a “casual cocktail” rehearsal dinner/welcome drinks? Bay Area at a restaurant on the water. For more context, my husband is the best man so we’ll both be at the rehearsal dinner and the welcome drinks. Groom told my husband to either wear a sport coat and slacks or his navy suit - he’ll be wearing his navy suit. I like the brown but worry about the length of the underskirt.

I’m wearing a burgundy dress to a black-tie wedding on Saturday but have no clue what to do for shoes and a purse. I own black heels, cream/white heels, and pearl-studded kitten heels. Also, all my jewelry is silver!! Also, if this is not black tie please don’t yell at me it’s the dress the mother of the groom told me to wear.

I rented a dress for a black tie wedding but I’m realizing that it is a little short on me (would make my shoes fully visible) - is that inappropriate for black tie?

I posted last week - I had the controversial cheetah print dress! I went shopping and am now ready with round 2.
Formal dress at the Cameron Estate Inn in Lancaster.
The black is a pantsuit.
Hubs likes the sparkly navy but I think it may be a tad too much?
I’m second guessing myself because I had no idea that formal meant floor length and I was the only woman in a short dress at our nephew’s wedding earlier this year. Retroactively MORTIFIED!
Assistance and input greatly appreciated

Going to a wedding in November. Have a pretty broad dress code. Looking online. What do you think is the best option.

Black Tie/Formal dress code how are these dresses? I’m thinking a black rose accessory and a choker with some gloves?

Have a wedding next weekend and everyone is invited to the rehearsal dinner/welcome party since it’s an out of town event for most people. The invitation says smart casual. Wtf does that mean. Can I just wear like black slacks and nice top? Or do I need to get another dress. I’m a grad student so I’m trying to use something I already have as opposed to having to buy another outfit. I’m assuming jeans are out and I don’t really have a skirt or anything.
They would be like black tailored pants and light green mock neck tank top kinda something I would wear to a big presentation in school lol.

On their wedding site they specify a formal/cocktail attire. For women they mention: Knee-length, midi, or tea-length dresses. Are either of these dresses appropriate?
