Dear WWE, please give LA Knight the effing big one!
I've been watching wrestling since the 80s, when I was but a pup. That man would be over in any era. Stop milking Roman dry and stir it up a little. Made me stop watching MITB. I will get back to it, because there are other wrestlers that I like. But the way it's going, they'll all probably be buried by Joe Anoa'i for years to come.

u/Knight_Machiavelli 1h ago
Seriously why? Why do people care about LA Knight? There is nothing remotely interesting about him.

6
u/GamofiBurnerAcc 2h ago
Tbh the Roman Reigns arc has gone way too long. It’s tiring, boring, predictable and shameful for the WWE to allow someone to retain a title so easily with so many talents and bigger personalities than him. Roman just smolders like he just ate some bad tacos and is trying his to hide that his stomach hurts.

u/SauceBoss42 4h ago
If they can put the belt on Jey because he’s popular there’s no reason they can’t put it on Knight

u/jjohnson1979 5h ago
Hot take: LA Knight has a ceiling in WWE. He’s popular because he’s good on the mic, but in the ring he is ok at best. His MITB match was great because of Roman. He’s not gonna have a long title reign should he ever get one. Y’all need to come to peace with that!
1
u/SpiralOutLL 55m ago
Roman was awful in MITB a always. He pulled off a total of THREE different moves (all sloppy as always) and the powerbomb botch was on him
2
13
u/EasyMathematician656 6h ago
I believe LA Knight himself said that he doesn’t have to ever win a belt on the main roster for his time in WWE to be a success. I agree with him.
10
u/OzMandius2056 5h ago
I mean that's true because he's the people's Champion. But come on man, he can somehow STILL be a main event player
4
u/EasyMathematician656 4h ago
I kind of see it as a Jey situation. I would keep him in the conversation. But I don’t want what happened to Jey, happen to LA Knight.
5
u/Gbro08 🫡 "Let's Go Cena" person 4h ago
Jey Uso's reign was solid and gave him needed credibility for future segments. LA Knight would probably be even better.
0
u/EasyMathematician656 2h ago
I disagree, I see Jey’s reign as a complete failure. He was champion for like a month, then eventually went back to “The Usos”. That is a sad fall from grace.

this "safe stars" era is going to kill wwe. the product is much more enjoyable when you think anyone could win. Smackdown running circles on raw RN
1
u/Philosophallic 5h ago
Hard facts. People loved the attitude era and even to an extent ruthless aggression early on due to the unpredictability. At this point they plan storylines far too far out and as a result miss so many opportunities for lightning in a bottle moments.

Are you perhaps talking about that sloppy rock bottom clone RR pulled during MITB?

I like LA Knight, but I kinda look at him like he gets the belt, and then what? I think he is suited to the role of the chaser, that little edge he has from the chip on his shoulder of never being the guy gives his character some bite.
I do think he gets a World title run before his time with the company comes to an end, but I don’t think he was ever going to dethrone Roman. I actually think he’d have a much better chance on SD. It’s very clear since Mania what the plan has been for Roman. They’re going to give him another year of being a dominate force, whilst building Oba up as the same. Then at Mania you have the showdown with Oba winning the belt and being solidified as the guy.
2
u/GooLaiGaming 7h ago
Then what? Then we get to see the champ regularly feud with the rest of the roster and not hold the title hostage til mania for the eventual oba femi title win. Give him the belt, let him defend a few times. he loses to the next main event guy and just have the title active for a bit of time. Look at smackdown's title scene. Its crowded and its fun because we know anyone of the contenders can beat sami zayn. Then we see roman reigns. Its not even his in-ring ability or that the character is super strong. It's just "no way roman loses outside wrestlemania or the other major PPVs" and that invalidates the whole storyline.
-5
u/MrShelby1234 8h ago
He's not the man to take the title off of the one true megastar in the company. Oba Femi is that man. Roman is simply on another level to everyone right now

u/MagmaDragoonX47 9h ago
Can't do it because he forgot to shake someone's hand backstage one time so he gotta pay his dues for at least 5 more years.
4
u/NotAnotherDM 9h ago
Look I get he's over because of the catchphrase but...What else does he bring to the game?
There is a gulf in-between where LA Knight sits on the card and what a main-eventer should have, sometimes people have it and sometimes people don't. I'd be happy to be proved wrong but we're coming up on 5 years on the main roster and I honestly couldn't tell you (other than the MITB match because it was the weekend) a memorable LA Knight match, especially one-on-one.
1
u/GooLaiGaming 7h ago
Did Jey Uso bring anything other than YEET? Did Damian Priest elevate himself with his title run? Those guys had theirs but why does someone like LA Knight can't have his? LA is always in the main event scene but never wins. If we know he never wins then why would we tune in on his next main event feud? Even a single world title run would make his next matches legit. Let's say he wins and keeps the title for a month or two with 1 or 2 successful title defenses then loses the belt again to Roman. The next time he is back on the main event, it wont be "for sure LA loses because he always lose". He would be a former champ and "could win it back again" even if he never wins again.
-1
u/Hank_Scorpio3060 9h ago
If you have been watching since the 80s, you know that everyone does not have to win the top title

It's wrestling 101.
Roman keeps beating faces.
Oba keeps beating heels.
Roman vs. Oba at Mania.
People say, "can't Roman just drop it and win it back before Mania." But then people will complain anyway. It would become, "why can't LA/Penta/etc. have a proper reign" like they did with Drew earlier this year.
So I understand what theyre doing.

u/twoddalmighty 10h ago
As bad as Triple H's booking is a lot of the time, he is 100% right in not putting the title on Knight. He is a poor attitude era LARPer who's always got a botch in him (in ring, and in promos). I honestly can't fathom why there's seemingly so many who are clamouring for him to win. He's awful. It says a lot that his one time being given the big one was during one of the worst periods of tna/impact/gfw.
-1
u/SamaWitDaFanta_ CERO 👌 MIEDO👇 10h ago
Pipe down everyone botches and to say he isn’t a good promo is disingenuous
4
u/twoddalmighty 10h ago
I never once said he isn't a good promo. I just said he is prone to the odd botch while cutting them, which is fact. He can cut a great Rock/Austin knockoff style promo (complete with cheap catchphrases) like the best of them.
And yeah, everyone botches sometimes. In general the guys you trust as your top guy don't do it multiple times in most of their matches, however.
-3
u/Seven19td 10h ago
He’s an Attitude Era tribute act and not a very good one at that. I’m glad he will no longer be clogging up space in the main event scene.

You mean a charismatic character who is great on the mic and in the ring? We don't like that now?
5
u/Significant_Bear_190 10h ago
👏🏼 So glad my opinion is shared. It's like being compared to the greats is a bad thing now. They ALL copied someone to a degree.
4
u/twoddalmighty 10h ago
LA Knight? Great in the ring? He's a botchfest.
1
u/AmongFriends 10h ago
The man has wrestled roughly 300 matches since 2023, when his big run started. Yeah, he's gonna have some botches. It happens to everyone.
For context, Roman Reigns has had 30 matches in the same timeframe.
1
u/twoddalmighty 10h ago
So with all those extra reps that Knight has got in, you'd think he should've been able to work on his craft and cut out the botches?
Yes, everyone botches now and again. Knight botches almost every match, sometimes multiple times.
0
u/AmongFriends 10h ago
Knight botches almost every match, sometimes multiple times
This is a gross exaggeration. You can't just say "he botches every match because of my vibes."
If you think so, prove it. In 300 matches since 2023, he botches like 200 of them? Is that what you're saying?
How many Knight matches have you seen? How many of those had botches? What were they? Against who?
1
u/Prestigious_Fella_21 11h ago
And? Who said you had to be original to be entertaining? Yall seem to like the Samoan nWo storyline just fine
3
u/Odd_Suggestion_2306 11h ago
So just because I don't like LA means I like Roman? Also it would help if LA was actually entertaining then maybe him being a rip-off could be forgiven.
I don't get why the internet wrestling fan is sucking him off so bad. It's Daniel Bryan all over again there's a clear reason he wasn't in the main event picture and WWE was right in the end he couldn't carry the company.

Knight should have got the title over Sami
0
u/Reptheft 9h ago
At this point they should just have LA beat Sami for the title, it doesn't have to be one or the other.
2
u/GooLaiGaming 7h ago
Then it clearly shows that RAW sucks whenever Roman is champ because we know he is scripted to win it all til wrestlemania. heck depends on the opponent he fights at mania or his current movie tie-in they might still have him win.
2
u/Reptheft 6h ago
Agreed, SD's title scene is way better because we genuinely don't know when the belt's changing hands or who can win.

u/GooLaiGaming 6h ago
I gotta admit though when he countered the spear with a BFT gave me a bit of hope. They just had to ruin it by cucking the fans again

u/Scottish-Goober-22 11h ago
Yes man. Seeing LA carry the feud with his mic skills and Roman’s part time schedule, really makes me want to see him win. Just seeing him go 0-3 just sucks. Romans been at the top since 2013. Even though LA is going to turn 44 it would be nice to see him on top for a little while. Also pushing some of the young talent like Oba and Royce.

2
u/docchrizly 11h ago
I'm not sure who is the more oily (oilier?) one.
0
u/AmongFriends 11h ago
Roman is 100% more oily than Knight. The man is glistening when he walks to the ring
4
10
u/MrTerrificPants 12h ago
He's fun in doses, but I'm not convinced he can carry the show. He botches too often and his promos don't always hit the mark.
I prefer him as a high mid-card fan favorite who can hit some high moments here and there, but is not saddled with anything heavier than that.
2
u/AmongFriends 11h ago
HHH, is that you? I didn't know you posted on Reddit?! Sup, man? /s
All kidding aside, Knight has proven for more than 3+ years that he has the tools to win a title. Or at the very least has the tools to at least be given a shot at carrying a title. And, again, at the very least, it's a new angle to tell stories with a champion LA Knight
Instead, Roman retains and we are back to where we were about a few months ago. WWE creative are cowards
0
u/Ok-Actuary-8417 11h ago
And how does Roman carry a show when he isn't on TV every week? I'm not a LA thumper but dude deserves a chance, even the homeless Sami Zayn got a chance.
4
u/Seven19td 10h ago
Roman doesn’t carry the show because he’s not on every week. LA Knight can’t carry the show even though he’s on every week because he’s not that good.
It’s never going to happen with Knight. People need to move on to the acceptance phase of grief

1
u/AmongFriends 6h ago
While you have generational stars waiting in the wings?
My man, generational stars are still waiting in the wings whether LA Knight wins a title or not. There hasn't been a mens World Champion who was born in the 1990s or younger. LA Knight winning a title in his 40s isn't taking up anyone's position
My god, Roman's gonna hold on to the title until Mania anyways. In what world are these generational stars being robbed of a world title?

2
u/PPBalloons 1h ago
They did, because they whined their way into Cody winning, derailing a 4 year year long storyline which always had the obvious conclusion of Rock v. Roman. If WrestleMania is on the line, WWE has shown they’ll pivot, they won’t pivot just because people like screaming “Yeah!”
5
u/AmongFriends 11h ago
Of course not, but that's less to do with Knight and more to do with WWE Booking because "You gotta make Roman look really strong"
5
u/OystersCockafeller 11h ago
LA winning should be a believable idea. A match is kinda pointless if there aren't any stakes.
I think it's a bad side effect of having creative run by an ex-wrestler. You can see way too much of the inside baseball stuff bleeding into the show. Debates about who "earned" the title or who's "good enough" to carry it. A lot of times, it feels less like you're watching a wrestling match, and more like you're watching to see what creative thinks about the talent.
Storylines should be written primarily for drama. It's one thing to work a specific wrestler into the story as champion. It's something else entirely to work the story around what a given wrestler 'deserves'.
3
u/Significant_Bear_190 11h ago
Well said. I don't know why I'm ever surprised. As soon as Michael Cole mentioned Roman's movie, I should have just got ready for the inevitable. I'm just too hopeful, I guess.
-3
u/CreativeAdeptness477 12h ago
Circumstances outside WWE's direct control made it a slight possibility. They have the Saudi show, maybe Roman doesn't want to trek out to a war zone, strap up Knight for a couple of months and send him out because he's desperate enough to do anything at this point, keep Roman safe at home and put the belt back on him at the Rumble ready for WM against Oba. If anything happens to Knight, whoopsiedoodles but WWE/TKO can cope a lot better than if anything happens to Roman. That was all a legit possibility, you know they've considered the cold logistics of it.
Houthi activity heats up too much though, the Saudi show might well be cancelled, whether or not Roman goes or not is no longer an issue, no need to strap up Knight. Instead of a main event where Knight's win closes the show it's moved to the opener and Roman can head out home early and Knight can sulk in a corner again.2
u/sindr0m 11h ago
That sounds horrible "let's put the belt on someone we don't care about so if anything bad happens, Roman gets protected while this other guy FUCKING DIES".
I don't think anyone should be put in the position of having to travel there period, not Roman, not Knight, not even the job guys.
1
u/CreativeAdeptness477 11h ago
It IS horrible, yes. I also don't think anyone in WWE should be travelling out to Saudi at all, or doing any business with them for that matter. I'm not in charge of that though. I do believe that the people who ARE in charge of that have considered the above though. They kinda have to, shitty as it is. I'd love for them to cut ties with the Saudis, but they're more focussed on pure money- exactly the type of mindset who would weigh up lives like that. Blame them, not me 🤷
