Discussion MONEY IN THE BANK THOUGHTS

Can we all agree that Money in the Bank was a complete failure from a storytelling perspective? This isn’t me bashing the show but I felt as though it completely undelivered with the bad booking but it was a great show from a wrestling standpoint

Roman and Knight was nearly my match of the year but why the same old booking ? At this point LA Knight may as well leave. This was my favourite match he’s ever been in and now the build basically meant nothing so here we are as Roman in God mode till WrestleMania yet again

Why did Tiffany win again? Can someone tell me? Expect to advance her story with Chelsea. Which is nearly identical to her story with Nia Jax in 2024??
Let’s be real : she did not need the briefcase so we are essentially back in 2024 all over again

Oba and Reed was the best match for me from a storytelling standpoint and at least moved SOMETHING foreword on this show. Now Oba can feud with Bron for another 6 months

Liv won again? What do I even say at this point? How is this PPV even relevant. At least it was not predictable but now we are back to the same old again

Then we head towards Penta and Roman AGAIN even though we know how this plays out. Penta should cash in on El Grande in AAA or it’s a waste of time dealing with Roman

I really enjoy money in the bank but the booking made me so agitated and annoyed, maybe I’ll look back on it in 2 years and like it more? Maybe

Oh boy... I couldn't agree more. This turned absolutely dogpoop from the point of storytelling.

Knight almost beat Roman with the bloodline intervention and now, like 2 years later, he loses clean. The moral of the story here is: Roman somehow became even more powerful and LA is simply "not good enough". Not good enough to beat cody, not good enough to beat Roman, not good enough to beat Oba (who beat Brock Benchmark err Lesnar).

LA Knight became food for Romans story, who really didnt need it.

"Why did Tiffany win again?"

This one I can understand but only if she turns heel on chelsey - which I don't think is going to happen. Last time the briefcase turned her face though, so I do have hopes. Prefer her as a heel anyway.

She still really didn't need it - she has a rather organic angle with chelsea - either she swims with CG or turns on her / until CG misstreats her. Briefcase would only do something if she'd cash in on Liv, steal her title before CJ and then wrestle chelsea there. Probably not gonna happen.

Oba and Reed was an entertaining match with a terrible ending. First: Oba destroys Breaker with DQ. OK. Fine.
Then Oba destroys the entirety of the vision, like 2 times in a row. UGH.
Now the "Monster Heel" Reed faced Oba, had intervention going and hit Oba clean with brass knuckles. He took a beating from the Monster heel with brass and lives? ... no. Not only that. He didnt just "survive", he got up and won.

The vision is: officially buried. You can't take any of them serious anymore. A proxxy 3v1 with a clean foreign object hit from a monster heel AND HE STILL WINS?!?!?!. That is just flat out -dumb-.

The vision is done and what we got in return? Oba is the same monster face he was before. So, we already know Oba will win any match from here on and will win Romans title if he stays healthy long enough. If they don't do exactly that it's gonna be even more dumb. If Oba loses a single match now it will hurt his character.

The men's lader match was complete arse the moment Jevon decided to turn off his brain. The setup to the ladder-ambulance spot was just complete gaga and it made him look like a complete moron. He had the time to setup a normal ladder, climb it up and win but instead, he chose to knock all other ladders out, bring in a vastly oversized and completely unstable "Big ladder", plant that as far away from the title as possible, then climb that one up and when he finally noticed that he didnt put it up in a useful way, decides to just sit up there and wait for someone to toss the ladder to the side and him with it.

I am sorry but I can't suspend the disbelief for that. It's just too damn much.

Penta winning also establishes nothing. He already faced the MainCharacter already and lost clean. What is he gonna do with the case? Go after Sami? Who will either lose vs Penta (which will do nothing for penta) or cheat his way out (which he needs to do on his own Arc anyway). There is no benefit there except for Sami (but he needs to get a W by cheating).

So, I really don't know what the heck that was. It did nothing to contribute to any meaningful storytelling yet, with a big question mark if that will happen in the future.

In return, you buried a fan favorite face (LA knight), an entire heel faction (the vision) and almost got tiffy injuried in the process because despite 30 years of experience with ladder matches, nobody in the company managed to pass an 8th grade physics test on the concept of "momentum".

Terrible PLE.

I'm still dumbfounded that for 4 years in a row the MITB winner is 40 years old, like... it gets to a point...

The booking was really bad. It’s the same people over and over for years now. They totally wasted an opportunity to create a star in Roxanne and Oba is getting to the point where he is going to have nobody credible enough to face him.

The men’s ladder match was terrible. Some of the ladders took years to set up and so it took me out of the fight with how unbelievable it was.

KO was laying down for ages acting beat up then someone climbed the ladder and he shot up to his feet and grabbed it like it was nothing

Yes exactly!! And then Je’von taking forever with his set up 🥴

I was extremely disappointed. So sick of Liv. She’ll be cackling for the near future now. LA Knight is never going to hold the belt I’m afraid

worst ppv of the year

Knight losing was clear from the get go

Liv winning is okay

Penta winning was shit

Tiffy winning was shit

Oba is shit and his portrayal is shit

overall.. shit

I wouldn't say Oba is shit but he fs is overrated. Idk what the iwc sees in him. Also they are making him as durable as Fiend for no reason

Genuinely why are you watching if you clearly hate what’s happening?

2

u/SynStark- 1d ago

i hated the outcomes not the product

It really doesn’t come across that way when you are hating on Oba and Pena winning who are fan favourites.

It isn’t the worst PLE of the year. There’s 100% worse.

2

u/SynStark- 1d ago

being fan favorites mostly by kids and teens doesn't mean everyone should like them as well. Penta is great but he is not main event material yet especially over guys like Bron and KO and yes Oba is meh and the way they make him unbeatable by anything is getting absolutely ridiculous so just as people are allowed to 'love' them I and other people are allowed to 'hate' them.

It sounds like you have some level of hatred towards Roman Reigns and it leads to whatever bs this post is

Not hating Roman is bs

u/MrShelby1234 1d ago

Nothing to hate tbh. He's a master of his craft. Best in the game

2

u/MonoplyWorld9164 1d ago

La knight may as well leave because he’s a main event guy who’s had multiple title shots but doesn’t have the scripted championship alright buddy mark

1

u/MonoplyWorld9164 1d ago

Failure from a storyline perspective wtf even is that??? Cause things didn’t go how you like?

7

u/Texasteabag29 1d ago

Every result advanced the story. The issue is you don't agree with it

2

u/Malt129 I prayed for this and it happened 🛐 1d ago

They all either didnt do that at all or did it in a minimal way

Complaining about the booking being the same old thing while making a post that just repeats all the other posts of the last few days, is... Ironic.

They had an opportunity to move everyone's story forwards in interesting ways with Roman v Knight. The 946 interfere and Knight wins -

Knight is champion, but not all his own doing. It plays on his mind. They've been playing around the edges of this type of story on Smackdown with Drew and Sami. Does Knight hold on to what he's got or take big risks trying to prove himself?

Roman wants it back but has a major 946 problem. The trouble is the bloodline hasn't been able to take care of it. Jacob is agitating against the Captains. Solo doesn't want to be there. Roman has to unite them and take out the 946 before getting back to the belt.

Instead there's just, well, nothing. Where does anyone involved go from here?

For me, it suffers the same problem as all the other "match" PPVs. Give it a couple of years and everything that can be done, has been done.

Throw a ladder at someone? Check.

Tipped off a ladder onto a table/ambulance (lol)/another ladder/other people? Check.

Someone goes through a ladder? Check

Two people slowly fall off a ladder onto a different ladder placed in a way no one would ever put a ladder? Check.

The LA Knight and Roman match was great though, much better than I thought it would be.
