UK Refunded £2.43 for a £5.89 burger that didn’t arrive??

Ordered a McPlant meal with chips and Sprite (best McDonalds meal btw) for £7.69. The chips and Sprite came but the burger did not. Contacted Uber and (after nearly an hour of waiting as I write) have been refunded… £2.43??? The McPlant on its own is £5.89. Very confused.

UK Driver tried to scam me into cancelling, then delivered a "decoy bag" of random snacks to steal my money. Uber is now protecting the thief and refusing my refund

I am absolutely fuming. I just experienced the most blatant fraud on UberEats, and the company is literally siding with the scammer.

The Setup:

I ordered some essentials from Sainsbury's. Minutes later, the driver starts blowing up my phone. He claims ”someone else took the order” and tells me: cancel the application. (See the screenshot he’s literally telling me to break the rules so he gets paid for doing nothing).

The Fake-Out:

I refused to cancel. I contacted Uber Support while he was en route. The agent told me, '”just accept the bag and we will fix it later.“HUGE MISTAKE. The driver rolls up, hands me a tiny bag, and speeds off.

The Reveal:

Instead of my £12.50 order, I open the bag to find… Chocolate and Stroopwafels. Cheap snacks. He used a 'decoy bag' to satisfy the GPS and marked it as delivered so he could keep my actual items for himself.

The Insult:

Despite having PROOFS of him telling me to cancel and PHOTOS of the wrong items, Uber Support is telling me I don't qualify for a refund. They are essentially telling me to pay for the privilege of being robbed.

I’ve used Deliveroo for years and never seen anything this shady. UberEats has become a playground for scammers. I’m done. I’m reporting this to my bank as fraud and never looking back.

Has anyone else dealt with this “Decoy Bag“ scam? How does Uber get away with this?!

Had an issue with an order that added a ton of fees because of out of stock items. The agent couldn't cancel it for me, which isn't their fault... but the way they just kept repeating the message when it made no sense anymore... are there actually any real customer support people or...?

UK Delivery drivers keep calling me to come outside instead of knocking

Whenever I order takeout to a relative’s house, delivery drivers almost always call and ask me to come outside to the end of the drive to collect it, instead of knocking at the front door.

What confuses me is that they’ll often already be out of the car or off their bike, so it’s not like they’re avoiding getting out. The house is easy to access, clearly sign-posted, numbered correctly on Google Maps, and works fine on sat nav.

The delivery note always says “PLEASE KNOCK AT FRONT DOOR THANK YOU”, but they still call nearly every time. This doesn’t happen when I order to my own home.

The house is in the nicest part of a somewhat rough town, could that be why? I’ve tried finding other people online with the same issue but I don’t really see any posts online about it.

UK I wish UberEATS forced drivers to use the map and instructions on their app, its getting frustrating.

My house is in an awkward spot, and map apps (despite considerable effort) still point to the streets behind me.

I have set photos, entrances, and instructions on the app to where it leads straight to my property

I would say 1 in 4 follows or reads the instructions (most that do compliment the clarity as maps were confusing)

Pulling my blooming hair out!

I’m not sure if anyone’s experienced this before, I ordered breakfast due to being overloaded with morning tasks, took ages to arrive my driver handed me the bag and said ‘I’ve got something else for you wait there’ then proceeds to hand me this book ‘I see what you order…you a very lovely looking young lady, you eating too much calories and junk, pork also bad for you, read this book it change your life’ I must say I found it hilarious but has anyone else ever received any ‘gifts’ from their uber drivers ? 😂😂😂

UK UberEats is dead

So I recently had 2 very bad orders where the food was completely cold, stale and old meat was used, I asked for a refund for those specific items but didn't get any refund

I've rarely ever needed to request refunds and used to order from ubereats 3 times+ a week

Now because of whatever new policy is implemented there is no protection for customers to get refunds no matter how bad the food is

I purchased uber one for the year but won't be renewing and won't be using Ubereats again

UK Why are refunds refused for deliveries that haven't been received? And do drop-off instructions get ignored regularly? (UK)

I made an order via the McDonalds app which uses Uber Eats to handle the delivery in my area. I always add delivery instructions as sometimes sat-nav or maps will take drivers to the wrong street. I also always tip the drivers when paying for the order.

I followed the courier on the map to see he had gone to the wrong street. Eventually he must have realised and come to the correct place. Delivery instructions stated that they need to park at the front of our building and then follow the path around for a few seconds until they reach our numbered door.

However after reaching the car park they just sat for a moment, marked it as delivered then left. I went around to the car park to see if it had been left anyway but hadn't. There was no photo taken either to confirm it had been left anywhere.

Managed to get onto a live chat with customer support who claimed that the driver attempted to contact me several times (they did no such thing) and that all the correct delivery protocols had been followed so they would not issue me a refund. I was understandably annoyed and asked how they could justify not bothering to read the delivery instructions, not delivering me my food and then not paying me back for it and they just repeated the same thing and then ended the chat. Eventually I got through again and kicked up more of a stink about how I had even tipped the courier and that they had no grounds at all to refuse a refund considering they hadn't provided me with what I paid for.

They have now issued a refund from McDonalds, including the tip. But it's left me wondering why couriers would ignore the drop off instructions and why Uber thinks they are justified in refusing refunds in these situations?

Genuine question here, not having a go at all couriers.

Tl;dr - Courier ignored delivery instructions, marked my order as delivered despite not delivering it, lied about trying to contact me and then Uber refused to refund me over it.

UK Anyone else having this problem?

Having the same problem with the drivers in almost every order. The drivers keep picking up the order then on the map they drive but not towards my house, then they stop in the same place for ages. For example right now as I'm writing this we have an order from Greggs it was meant to be delivered at 2.15 it's currently 2.58 and the driver has the food but has been parked on the opposite side of town for the entire time. Bare in mind he had to drive the opposite way, away from my house. This happens almost every time I order to the point that recently I've just been collecting instead of using drivers. I can't find an option to report the driver, people say they stack orders and even if that's the case why should I have to eat clap cold food and wait an extra hour when I paid priority too, it's ridiculous. Uber is a scam and the drivers are rude and entitled. Like why is it okay that I've wasted nearly £40 on cold food

UK how long do i have to wait for my order to self cancel?

ive ordered food at 5:45 and it’s currently 6:44, it says it’s gonna arrive from 6:53-7:07 but that just keeps going up. it keeps getting delivery drivers and then cancels them. if i wanna cancel the order i get charged the full amount with no refunds. how long do i have to wait until it cancels itself and i get a refund because by now my food would be freezing cold.

edit: we don’t typically tip in england, and if we do it’s usually given as an option after the delivery has been completed.

UK a certain driver wont bring to door

i live alone in a block of flats/apartments, sometimes i get a delivery and sometimes its a certain driver (since i live in a small town, it’s usually the same rotation of a handful of drivers here). this one driver used to insist drivers “aren’t allowed to deliver to the doors” in flats, now he’s back tracking and saying only old and disabled people.

id like to clarify i do have a few hidden disabilities and my spine is also in poor condition, i didn’t have time to argue this point with him just now because he dumped the food in my hand and left. whatever i say to this man every time he has an argument. ive never ever had this trouble with any other driver except this guy, everyone else is fine bringing the food to me and on occasion id give a generous tip/good review.

i was told next time i have to be waiting in the lobby for him.

is there some way i can combat this? could i report him to uber? i have a camera outside my front door if he tries to argue against it.

UK Uber Eats refunded one order in a bundle but refuses to refund the other. What are my options?

I ordered groceries on Uber Eats for £35.32. While checking out, Uber offered me a bundled order with free delivery, so I added an Asda order for £10.24.
Both orders were accepted, shopped, collected and assigned to the same driver. They both showed as being on the way, and I could see the driver on the map.
The driver never arrived at my address.
Afterwards, the £10.24 Asda order was cancelled by Uber Eats Support, and I received a refund for that order.
However, the £35.32 order was marked as delivered, even though I never received it. I’ve contacted Uber Eats multiple times and they’ve refused to refund me, despite me explaining that both orders were part of the same bundled delivery with the same driver.
The only evidence I have now is screenshots of the notifications showing:
Both orders being shopped and collected.
The same courier delivering them.
One order being cancelled by Uber Eats.
A later notification asking me to rate the delivery.

Is there a way of calling because that was the last of my money and I don’t know what I will do if I can’t get a refund. I ordered food to last us a few days and now I’m feeling like I’m going to go insane

UK Ordered food, received someone else’s order from 6 hours ago. How does this happen?

Decided to order takeaway at 9pm. Ordered Dave’s Hot Chicken. It arrived at 9:45, I take the bag to my house, only to realise that it’s someone else’s order, and according to the receipt on the bag, it was an order from 3pm. wtf? How does a 6-hour old bag of chicken end up getting sent to me?

UK Why is Pizza Hut allowed to do this?

Was looking at ordering Pizza Hut and thought I’d select the deal for one

1 pizza
1 side
1 bottle drink

For a reason able price

Get to the pizza selection. Every single pizza other than plain cheese was an extra £1-2. Fair enough

Get to sides. Every side other than chips was an extra £1-2 each. Wtf

Gets to drink. EVERY SINGLE DRINK WAS AN EXTRA £3. Thats not a deal. That’s just the cost of the drink

How are they allowed to advertise deals for a price and then even if you select the cheapest options there isn’t a combination for that price

UK How the hell do you complain to this awful company

Made an order with a 30% off offer, totally at £18.64 including offer, checked and double checked. Placed the order and then they charged me full price and confirmed the order without the offer, £26.51.

Tried to cancle the order because that was more than I can afford... cancellation fee of £23 give or take.

Contact support... they cant help until the order arrives, but they said they would refund the difference if I get back in touch.

Waited for the order to arrive, get back in contact, and get imidiately "transfered to the special team so they can help" which is them telling me, I didnt apply an offer and explaining how to apply an offer....

I explain, the basket had the offer on and then when I placed the order, it charged full price... get wall of text response explaining in greater detail how to apply an offer or that it would be applied automatically.

I explain that it DID APPLY AUTOMATICALLY but charged me different from what was stated when placing the order.

I get told the offer wasnt available for the restaurant in my area.

I go back onto the app and can see, the offer is still being offered at the restaurant in my area.

I absolutely wouldn't be suprised if this was done intentionally.

Also I dont think the customer journey to complain follows uk regulations, but thats above my paygrade.

Just another example of why people shouldnt use this service, I only do because im disabled, and looks like i won't be any more after disputing this charge.

UK Why do delivery drivers always end up in the wrong location?

This happens every time I place an order, the drivers end up much further down on an adjacent street. I have my location pin in the right place and the address is correct and I have a description of my building.

Evertime I get a phone call saying that they are outside but they are actually quite far way, they all seem really pissed off to, but I don’t think it’s me because all my information is correct. Do drivers just not look at the location pins?

UK Will KFC deliver to a university accommodation?

I am in the uk and was looking at the uber eats page for KFC and got a pop up saying that if I was ordering to a school they would cancel without refund. I wanted to know if they classed university accommodations as a school or school area and would refuse my order before I purchased.

UK No time to change address

My partner just placed an order, pressed confirm. Then immediately realised the address was wrong. Tried to cancel the order via chat bit within a minute and they have charged the full order amount as a fee for cancellation.

This all happened within a minute of placing the order. I dont think there was even a notification that the restaurant had accepted the order.

Partner then placed another order with correct address.

Is this right? Is she likely to get refunded for the first order?

UK I wonder what ICO thinks

Ordered some groceries off the app today and included was x2 multipacks of redbull. I did get a warning ID would be required for a redbull purchase.

Retailer cancelled the redbull, but everything else was picked fine.

During delivery, the Driver was unable to complete the delivery without ID, eventhough there was no need for it as there was no redbull in the order.

There's no complaint option for something like this when clicking help on the order. What's the general opinion? Is this permissible?

I'll be writing to ICO once Uber get back to me. Thanks for reading 👍🏻

UK A new restaurant is using the same address as a pre-existing restaurant in my local area. What do you think is going on?

When scrolling through UberEats this evening, I saw a new place that looked interesting. When I checked the address, I searched on maps and saw a completely different and recognisable restaurant. I imagined if I named it, people would know the chain. I don’t really like what to do. I feel kind of morally obligated to let at least someone know. The newly opened place is coincidentally serving the same things as the one actually at the address.

Is this the restaurant themselves doing it? Or is it more likely to be someone somewhere else pulling a scam? (would probably be possible tbf, as you could probably get away with something store bought and mixed up a home to make the food)

I can’t seem to find any way to report the place on the app.

And sadly I think there will probably be some people out there who fall for whatever it is 😬

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated, thanks✌️

Edit: it seems TIL about ghost kitchens 😅 thanks Reddit!

UK I recieved salt covered mini donuts... got a £1 refund.

The donuts were £6. This is absurd, the customer service for this app has genuinely become so awful I'm considering deleting it over this. I have a desensitisation to the taste of salt so it took me a donut and a half to notice. They were COVERED in salt, like a dangerous amount piled on. I feel incredibly sick, obviously, and if I hadn't noticed as soon as I did it could've been much more serious.

Their automated customer service bot has no option for wrong ingredients used or food wrongly prepared, but I managed to submit a somewhat accurate claim simply to get a refund for the item that is inedible and completely wrong.

Out of £6, they gave me a gracious £1 refund. I tried to push back on it but have recieved no response, is there any way for me to get my money back? I wasn't even asking for a full order refund.
