I've never had such a long yet completely pointless conversation with customer support. I wonder if that AI, a human, or whatever it was, read a single word of what I wroteđ¤
The AI with the typical star icon replied immediately and asked me to wait. I received this response 16 hours later, and I'm left wondering why I had to wait so long for another AI to answer. Even more suspiciously, the profile icon changed from the AI star to another generic one. So it seems to me that they are trying to make an AI response look like it came from a human and that's the main thing that annoys me here.
I think people complicate things by trying to over explain. With all customer service, the more you say the more can be used to deny your claim. This would be such an easy refund had you chosen "wrong item."
You ordered a Coke and you clearly weren't given a Coke. End of story.
"But this Coke had less carbonation that I usually like, and sometimes I like a little less if I'm having a big meal, but not today. And there wasn't enough ice which is usually not a problem because they usually put in too much ice. Not that I don't like ice. I do. But I find too much ice can water down the drink. And I didn't like the amount of syrup. I think they should have used more syrup and less water."
Genuinely, a $2 drink is not worth going through this, not because itâs not your right but because they make it as difficult as possible every time and Iâd rather ago about my day unbothered opposed to being ragebaited by ai support and incompetent humans for hours on end
I just donât use the services that provide horrible customer service once I experience it. But if Iâm in this situation, you better believe that I am making them spend as much time and money as I possibly can if they arenât going to satisfy my complaint. Whether thatâs an agentâs (real human person) time, processing power, AI tokens, making the outsourced contractor reconsider their contract etc. This companies resources will be tied up with me out of principle and I will hopefully cost them more than what it would to just initially fix the problem. Vote with your wallet, or make them lose money. Itâs the only way they learn.
Just donât use uber- thatâs what I ended up doing. I deleted the apps and said fuck you after our driver was at our house with our food, but instead of drop it off drove 3 miles (in LA which takes forever) to find cheap gas, then came back to deliver the cold food and they did nothing. Fuck uber, boycott them. They also charge more than DoorDash and set base prices on menu items higher sometimes.
I agree, thereâs a reason uber runs 20 million promotions deals and sales every month, a calculated scheme to keep people hooked because nothing else about the app is doing that. All delivery apps are going to be stiffy about their refunds but uber just does it in a way that makes it feel scummy. I mean look at this, PEAK rage bait, sitting here acting dumb when them and their coworkers obviously already know, just running laps around you until you get tired of them and give up. Good riddance
I used to drive for them, and can safely say that they treat both customers and drivers with contempt and have gone out of their way to state that they ARE NOT a service company. I would rather starve than work for them and I wouldnt encourage even my worst enemy to use them. They are toxic and psychopathic.
There are humans involved sometimes. They have scripted responses, but every now and then, a genuine answer comes through. Of course, to get there, you have to run the gauntlet of AI and auto-response.
It's AI and it's doing exactly what it was programmed to do. It's making you get so frustrated that you give up and UberEats gets to keep your money. I'm seriously waiting for the class action lawsuit to happen.
I mean, they are right. Uber eats contract is to deliver the items from the store, which they did. If the drink was not up to quality, itâs not Ubers fault. Chase it up with McDonaldâs, who are actually the ones at fault
And Maccaâs tells you that because you paid Uber, you have to go through them for a refund. Which is actually true because Uber has chosen to take on financial responsibility for the order by processing the payments. What should happen is that every time they refund because of an incorrect order or order quality issue(outside of temperature issues), they should recover that money from the restaurant/store. That way theyâre actually incentivising them to send out the correct orders.
I get what youâre saying, but in this specific context, both McDonaldâs and Uber fulfilled their contractual agreements. Maccas made the drink, uber delivered it, OP just didnât like it. Iâm saying get in contact with McDonaldâs to see if there is anything they can do out of goodwill, not a refund, since legally they have no reason to.
Uber Eats always refunds me with little push back, the most they do is make it difficult to return to a help chat or even initiate it but personally Iâve only been denied a refund for orders that were days old I forgot about

Youre making it too complicated, just say you didnt receive your ordered drink.
