I’ve watched SG1 and SGA many times…. MANY times. However, I’m just realizing, the ship they found was Janus’s second time traveling ship that he was told not to make.

puts on tinfoil hat

Which means at the time of them being there an Ancient, Janus of course, was watching them.

passes out tin foil hats

Which also means, they were two tictacs away from meeting one. But of course tempering with time and blah blah blah…. Carter could explain it.

On my zillionth rewatch, just noticed this
And its fun foreshadowing knowing they landed in the pacific

Was scrolling through Prime and for some reason it was replacing titles of movies in my list with the Spanish title as it sometimes does and I noticed that Stargate was called “The Door of Time” in Spanish. Why does it have an entire other name? Just something added during translation? I’d imagine that a proper noun (especially in Spanish) would just translate 1:1 from English, plus it seems weird that “Door of Time” would be the title seeing as how time travel has nothing to do with Stargate (until the later series, movies, etc at least). Genuinely curious about what may have caused the translation to call it this

Always wondered how everyone else felt.

I personally feel the best and brightest ascended every generation, so the ones left just 10k years ago were far inferior to the peak.

Im going to start posting parts of my massive concept art archive, everything from the OG movie, through SGU.
If there's an episode you want to see art from let me know as I will be posting them randomly based on what people want to see

Found while scrolling today

Every time a 9-chevron connection was established (once at the beginning when Rush dials the Destiny from Icarus, once when the Lucian Alliance dials Destiny, and once when Telford manages to dial Earth from Destiny and go through back to Earth before the connection becomes unstable), it is shown that radio signals can't traverse a 9-chevron wormhole like they can a 7- and an 8-chevron one.

Therefore, if the Lucian Alliance attack didn't come and Icarus dialed Destiny while no one was in a rush to escape and they sent a MALP through, all that would've happened is that the MALP itself would have arrived on Destiny, but it would've been incapable of sending radio signals back to Icarus, and on Icarus, it would've been assumed that the destination is blocked by an Iris-like barrier which made the MALP be destroyed on arrival, therefore it is impossible to travel to that destination.

He would have changed the angle, buying more time on the ship where he would have ultimately realized that the Stargate Buffer is a stasis pod essentially. He would have written a program to do a loop where he had to fake dial earth but it looped around and stored him in an incoming worm hole. He would have written another program that when the others awakened from stasis the gate would automatically dial releasing him from the buffer. He would have also written a digital bury so no incoming wormhole with few exceptions he would have told earth how to get passed his block so if they could dial in he’d appear with the new team.

”A fool’s paradise is a wise man’s hell.”

First time i've watched it since the late 2000s must have been well over 15 years. Gonna be a long post with my thoughts don't expect anyone to read it but just wanted to give me view! It's just my mad ramblings!

The rewatch many years later was pretty good, and it really holds up and aged well, it helps most episodes were adapted to widescreen.

Season 2 to 8 were peak seasons in my view, S1 took some time to warm into and season 9 and 10 really felt off.

I actually forgot how many different civilisations you met as you watch through and I find it disappointing we see them ones and never again especially on the civs that were of similar advancement to Earth or at least within 50 years of tech before or after.

It would have been nice to see more trading, more development of relationships between those groups but the same thing happened every time.

1 - Meet new race

2 - Visit new a 2nd time

3 - New race has a problem and is wiped out

The same thing happened each time, such as with the Tollen.

I would have loved to see something of an alliance being formed, welcoming new members too it etc but it just never happened, the only races that stayed alive were the Tok'ra or the Asgard everyone else just died off and you never heard from them again.

Re-watching I forgot how many Goa'uld there were the first 5 seasons they were a menace and Anubis up until season 8 really had a nature about him that you felt while watching the show, my favourite has to be Ba'al he really stands out as one of the best characters in the season and stoor out every episode he was in.

The replicators were in far fewer episodes than I remembered, I really thought of them as this menace but on the re-watch they are hardly in the show, it really shows how much of a threat that they were that I had that memory for all these years.

Coming into season 9 and 10 though I have so many mixed feelings, season 9 I struggled with the first half, it just didn't feel right and it wasn't until the 2nd half and season 10 that I started to enjoy it again i can't say what it was but just was off. I feel like it was almost a new show and everything from the previous 8 seasons were abandoned, the Tok'ra forgotten, Asgard hardly mentioned it just felt disconnected from the previous 8 seasons.

I personally like the new Daniel in S9 and S10, I felt as a character him and Vala really played of each other well but the biggest issue with S10 is the Ori, they just suck as a villain and I really struggled to enjoy them it also made me like the Ancients a lot less, the Camelot story line with Merlin was just rubbish.

It just didn't work in my imagination and I know not many people will agree, but it didn't feel like it fit into the lore of the world. The Goa'uld created the Ancient Egyptian lore as a way of control, the Asgard created their lore around protecting planets they seemed to have strong reasons, reasons that were elaborated on over 8 seasons, the Ancients just felt like it was shoved on at the end, they were spoken about for years through out the seasons, and never at any people was it established that UK Myth and Legend was the Ancients doing (if it was I missed it) It felts shoehorned on at the end for the sake of it.

Overall I did enjoy the rewatch I disliked the final episode, I hate what they done to the Asgard they were great and deserved better, it was just dumped on as in the last episode, "here's everything gonna kill ourselves k thnx bye" in my head cannon I like to think the Asgard have stored a repository somewhere with all their collective consciences for someone to revive them when the time comes, we know there exists forms of their old bodies, and they still exist in Pegasus but they didn't deserve to go out the way they did.

Thinking about the show as a whole, like I said before, I wish we saw more of Earth trying to form more alliances with other similarly advanced civilisations but unfortunately every episode just had to have a villain and we never heard from them again, would like to have had more survive.

I also like how the Goa'uld ended but wished we saw more post System Lords, the Goa'uld being self aware of themselves not being Gods was entertaining, Ba'al, (can't remember his name but Ba'als Scientist) it would have been fun to see how they ended up, with hosts knowing they are not gods, and symbiotes taking on the personality of their hosts they could have mellowed out, can picture one just sitting on a sofa binge watching dramas on TV, after 8 seasons of them being a threat to everything their end seemed rather abrupt and they just vanished.

The other area we missed out on was the Lucian Alliance, we could have had more Space Delta Force with SG1 fighting them there were so many avenues that were opened up but only touched upon.

Either way this is long enough and few will read to the end, it's now time for me to re-watch Atlantis, which i always preferred 15 years ago so will see how it holds up!

Cool episode. They did it well. I couldn't tell if replicator Carter was betraying Carter or Fifth. Turns out she was betraying both. Cool twist.

Funny moment where O'neill is talking to replicator Carter:

O'Neill: Alright, you got our attention. Who are you?

Replicator Carter: My name is Samantha Carter.

O'Neill: Alright. We've got a little conflict with that statement. We've already got one here.

Replicator Carter: There are two of us.

O'Neill: If only.

Carter gives O'Neill a look and he clears his throat. 😂

Teal'c trying to pull replicator Carter out of the Stargate reminds me of that episode from an earlier season where Teal'c is trying to pull O'neill out of the force of the black hole force that's pulling O'neill towards the Stargate. Something like that.

When Destiny exits FTL in "Air" after Rush tells it that they need a CO2 scrubber, they are in range of 4 stargates. 1 leads to the Desert Planet, but there are 3 others locked out of dialing.

On the Desert Planet, Franklin manages to find a way to bypass the lockout and dial one of the locked planets and sends a Kino through. He says there is ample vegetation there and it is habitable. Curtis and Palmer go through the gate to this planet without a Kino remote.

Later, Eli dials this planet and tries to radio them, but they don't answer.

Unlike the people who ended up on the Obelisk Planet from "Faith", Curtis and Palmer are never heard from again. What do you think happened to them? Maybe an alien T. rex burst out from the bushes after they arrived and ate them? Or they heard the radio but decided to ignore it and pull an Adam and Eve? Maybe they are still there, living as hunter-gatherers with 10 children.
